If I buy really nice butter

I can't stop eating it. I could live off really nice bread and butter. I am going to have to buy some not very nice butter so I am less tempted! I think it's my favourite thing to eat.

Anyone else adore good butter!

I only eat real salted Irish butter. Cannot look at anything else. This is the sole reason I could never be vegan.

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 17/11/2021 14:11

In fact, I'm licking some melted Isigny Ste Mère Unpasteurised off my lips right now, while trying to forgive DP for contaminating the rest of the block with a Marmitey (and hence slightly gluteny) knife.

It absolutely freezes your hands doing the squish under water.

Our favourite is the Lidl butter with sea salt crystals. They stopped making it a couple of years ago and we worked our way round the alternatives but I was really excited to see it back again!

Yanbu in any way. Lurpak is 🤮 but not as 🤮 as margarine.

Wildrobin · 17/11/2021 14:58

I love Lurcak. My newest simple lunch is a potato, Lurpak butter and a handful of fresh coriander on top.

@JingsMahBucket

Try the Seriously Low Carb company. Best low carb rolls around. They also do bread.

bloodywhitecat · 17/11/2021 15:42

@Zampa

The Aldi Specially Selected butter is the bestest. Big lumps of salt. It's won Great Taste awards.
This. And if I can't get this one the Lidl version is good too.
@MrsClatterbuck Abernethy butter isn't Irish. It's from Northern Ireland.
I never said it was

SouthernFashionista · 17/11/2021 21:24

The best ever is an Irish one that my SIL brings me. It’s called Glenstal I think. It is divine.

Curlygirl06 · 17/11/2021 22:10

When I do the weekly food shop, after I've unpacked it I get a slice of fresh bread bought that day, cover it in butter and eat it. The butter has to be at least an inch thick though!

TowerOfGiraffes · 18/11/2021 01:25

I blitz butter with different salts, herbs and garlic then store it in ice cube trays in the freezer to make garlic bread or to put on top of steaks.

TowerOfGiraffes · 18/11/2021 01:51

Tarragon, parsley, smoked salt and garlic is probably my favourite way to blend butter.

TowerOfGiraffes · 18/11/2021 01:53

Also half-baked baguettes are a good thing to keep in for snacks. They last for aaaaages then you can warm them up until crisp and cover in whatever butters are in the freezer, all melty. Yum.

Our local “big” supermarket is a Waitrose and I don’t shop there. We have a smallish Tesco but the only sell own brand butter so I’m stuck with that but I upgraded from lurpak (although I suppose it’s technically cheaper). I prefer proper salted butter to spread. But I agree that salt crystals are amazing.

Nat6999 · 18/11/2021 02:42

I can't find any bread I like at the moment, we used to have a local bakery & their bread was amazing but the owner retired & closed down. I can't get any bread to match it, everything tastes too sweet, I like bread with a hint of saltiness, I've always loved bread & I miss it.

You can do it yourself! Just drop salt rocks/ crystals and butter into your blender and pulse it so they don't get totally disintegrated.

Make some? Home-baked bread is the best and you can adjust the seasoning to taste.

Oh helllllll yes! Corn on the cob should be soaked in melted butter and salt. 😋

I cannot be trusted with a loaf of bread, a toaster and salted butter.
Absolutely no willpower

This could be a game changer! A whole new world of flavoured butter!
