If I buy really nice butter

I can't stop eating it. I could live off really nice bread and butter. I am going to have to buy some not very nice butter so I am less tempted! I think it's my favourite thing to eat.

Anyone else adore good butter!

@TerrifiedandWorried

Unsalted butter is a sad substitute. Real butter is amazing.
We have known to scrunch some salt over buttered bread if a restaurant is so posh it only offers unsalted butter on the table.
Redshoeblueshoe · 16/11/2021 22:16

Tractor why don't you just cut off a small chunk and put it in the fridge ? It keeps for ages.
Does anyone else put it on Jamaican ginger cake ? My DH thinks it's strange. I love it. I love the Aldi and Lidl West country butters. Extra salty

Blubbergalore I’m glad you share my Wyke Farms butter joy. I only discovered it because the Co op butter had run out mid lockdown. It was genuinely the highlight of my day/week and I nearly sent them an email just to say how happy their butter had made me but I got distracted with the simultaneous work and homeschool nonsense

My last post makes no sense. I mean put a small amount in the butter dish and the rest in the fridge

fluoropostit · 16/11/2021 22:19

Going to investigate this Lidl butter tomorrow.

But stupidly, president unsalted on French bread with jam on .

Sadly I am now diagnosed coeliac but perhaps I could just out jam ON SLICES OF BUTTER

boatyardblues · 16/11/2021 22:19

@Iwonder08

My 2 yo eats god French butter by itself.. Not even bothered with bread
Sounds like our cat.
wohmum · 16/11/2021 22:21

Oh god yes - it’s my absolute downfall!
M&S soft spreadable butter is delicious on crusty bread or toast but it needs to be kept in the fridge . My OH leaves it out to soften it … it’s just not as delicious!

Bonbon21 · 16/11/2021 22:23

I have only recently discovered Lidls west country butter with cornish sea salt...omg!!
Have ditched the Lurpak after 40 years!!!

LizzieSiddal · 16/11/2021 22:23

I’m with you all.

My name is Lizzie and I’m a bread/crackers/toast and butter addict. Sad

I worry myself sometimes but recently had my cholesterol tested at the GPs and it was absolutely fine! There is hope!

covilha · 16/11/2021 22:25

Totally agree OP- and it’s got to be thick enough to leave a teeth imprint after each bite- bliss

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 16/11/2021 22:26

Salted President or Aldi with the salty crystals. Mmmmm.

UnaOfStormhold · 16/11/2021 22:29

I can see I am out of step with many here but I just don't get on with salt crystals in butter - it messes up the texture and some bites you get a huge hit of salt. I did make my own once, and while it's magical to see it taking shape I found it impossible to get even salt distribution which was a bit of a letdown. Lurpak slightly salted is lovely and so much easier, I often slice off a small corner of a new pack for a nibble.

lisaandalan · 16/11/2021 22:31

Yes me, lashings of anchor x

ThisIsTrifficult · 16/11/2021 22:38

If I leave the butter out, DD would be at it with a spoon! No bread middleman needed!

DirtyDancing · 16/11/2021 22:44

Oh god I've just had to have some fresh bagels with lashing of President Salted butter after reading all these replies. It's my supermarket go to. My new local cheese shop does an amazing slightly salted, rolled English butter all wrapped in lovey paper. I would share a photo.. but I ate it all yesterday!

Just to add a grind of pink salt can lift even the most basic of butters to a whole new level. I buy my pink salt (randomly) from TK max!

@Newbabynewhouse

Yep! one of my particular faves is salted lurpak...on warm tiger bread mmm or even on lightly toasted fruit loaf mmmmm!!!!!! Xxx
Omfg I’m going to have to get back up out of bed and get some of that now 😳😂
DirtyDancing · 16/11/2021 22:49

@Leah2005

Have you ever made your own? It's like magic.
Okay.. you need to fill in the blanks. This could revolutionise my Christmas. How does one make one's own butter. Shock

I love this butter from M&S or Ocado as a treat on toast or bread.

If I buy really nice butter
BeaucoupFish · 16/11/2021 22:52

@MrsMouse03
That’s made by Rodda the clotted cream people so that’s a pedigree for sure

I would love to try some but I have never seen that in my store

DirtyDancing · 16/11/2021 22:53

Tbh I have been known to put the jam directly on butter. I like marmite on butter too. No carbs just on the butter. Anything with butter really.. butter on butter...

@GemmaRuby

Delamere Goat Butter… so good. It has a delicious slightly goaty taste, so people who don’t like goat’s cheese (heathens) might not like it.
But it'll taste of goat...? ( Aka toe jam)
ISpyCobraKai · 16/11/2021 22:56

For everyday use, I buy whichever spreadable butter is on offer, but treat butter I like a decent unsalted on nice thick granary toast.

Yes to Jamaica ginger cake! I could eat a whole loaf slathered in butter.
Clymene · 16/11/2021 22:58

Waitrose French butter with sea salt crystals.
