Hotel/cottage with sea or lake view

My sister is undergoing cancer treatment. She will have a gap between cycles hopefully late November when she will be well enough for a trip. She wants to spend a couple of days away with me.

She will be tired so plan is to sit, relax and just chat. She really wants to sit and look at the sea or a lake or a river, so a room with big windows with that type of view would be perfect.

I want it to be luxurious as this is likely to be some of our last memories together.

Does anyone know of somewhere in the Lakes/Yorkshire/Scotland/North Wales?

Thank you

In the Lakes, Low Wood Bay and Lodore Falls hotel both have sea views and spas.

Thank you, these all look great. Just sorting which have availability.

This is much more hopeful now, my searches were getting me nowhere.

My absolute haven is the Marine Hotel in North Berwick which might fit the bill. I hope you and your sister have a lovely break xx

HippyDays · 15/11/2021 21:59

Thank you again.

Lots are quite booked up - I’m surprised for November but I guess it is quite short notice. Good for the places that they are busy though, so that’s good.

Stayed here in October. Opposite the beach, fab view from comfy chair in living room and from bedroom.

These are luxury lodges overlooking a lake. I've had two lovely family breaks here.

Armathawite Hall in the north Lakes has a gorgeous view of a lake and the fells. It is expensive though but beautifully decorated for Christmas. Defo feels luxurious.

EwwSprouts · 15/11/2021 22:17

Right by the beach on the quieter north bay. escape2thesands.com/

Old Course in St Andrews. Luxurious and on the most fantastic beach. ❤️ to you and your sister xx

wevemadeitagain · 15/11/2021 22:44

Cameron House, some of the rooms and the pool overlook Loch Lomond

Trixiefirecracker · 15/11/2021 22:46

@AttaGirrrrl they are nowhere near the sea. 😂

Trixiefirecracker · 15/11/2021 22:48

Northumberland would be lovely. Beaches are fantastic. Or Skye, we stayed in an amazing cottage there but could be too far to drive for a short stay?

Peaseblossum22 · 15/11/2021 22:54

Hambleton Hall overlooks Rutland Water. Not cheap but very relaxing and the food is lovely although you may struggle to get a room in November.

The Gallivant in Camber Sands is meant to be lovely, right in the beach and very holistic and peaceful. Could be perfect

What about Watergate Bay in Devon. Have never stayed at the hotel but we had a house opposite this summer and the sea views were lovely.

@AttaGirrrrl they are nowhere near the sea
This made me smile. But they are definitely on the shortlist for lakes Smile

Skye I think would be ok as no ferry to negotiate if we just had to leave. She is ok so far in the car, she just sleeps, then could rest when there. Do you have a particular recommendation? We went there as children so that would be quite a nice thought.

Thanks all, I am carefully going through each and every one.

Storrs Hall in the lakes is lovely. A really chilled, luxury hotel slightly off the main tourist trap. It has a gorgeous boat house on the lake you can hire, with a terrace on the lake and jacuzzi.

Sarcobaleno · 15/11/2021 23:03

Airds Hotel in Port Appin is lovely with beautiful views.

If you're interested in self catering in Northumberland I'd recommend Coastal Retreats, there are some gorgeous places.

MaryStuart · 15/11/2021 23:08

I’ll PM you op

Er, no. I know. Reread the OP Hmm

AttaGirrrrl · 15/11/2021 23:32

Oooh @Honeyroar - Storrs Hall is a good shout. It also has a good range of different types of accommodation, and AMAZING cream teas.

SorryPardonWhat · 15/11/2021 23:37

Clifton Arms Lytham - beautiful views of the sea and a windmill. Who doesn't love a windmill.

HippyDays · 15/11/2021 23:42

@AttaGirrrrl I think it was just that in your message you wrote they have sea views instead of lake. I knew what you meant Smile. They were also great suggestions that are definitely on the list. Thank you.
