We've just finished dinner and while clearing away the rubble I've noticed the best before end date on this.
🤣
It tasted delicious so I'm not worried.
But it amused me

I was thinking the 2017 date was a bit long but then realised that was the packing date. It's only 20 months past. It's fine.

Every time I realise I've used something drastically out of date, I think to myself I need to organise myself better with a FIFO system. But I never do and I live to tell the tale.

Really, wasn't everything best before March 2020?

🤣
thanks.

I've made meringues many times from eggwhites that were frozen for even longer (the longest was 6.5 or 8.5 years) and all was fine.

you are quite right - though I remember Chernobyl and it was definitely better before that

what's a FIFO date?

don't make me Google. I did that today with something else & ended up reading about Ötzi the iceman and ended up running late!

I poisoned us with frozen tuna once. Didn't hit till the next day so you're not out of the woods yet.

Praying for you Daffodil

There needs to be some sort of award for this. Won the internet never mind the thread!
GreenLunchBox · 15/11/2021 21:29

On a serious note, OP, I think things are only ok in the freezer for up to six months. I hope you'll be ok!

But it says best before After that date it's quality that suffers rather than it being dangerous

Wow, that sounds lovely!

shakingmytambourineatyou · 15/11/2021 23:13

If it's deep frozen then imo it doesn't matter how long it's in there. As pp said, manufacturers put best before date for flavour (and to sell more). YABU though, about the satsuma juice! I blame MasterChef Grin
