Where do you like to sit on a flight?

I'm travelling alone on a large aircraft in a few weeks

It's a 3-3-3 config with 2-2 at the back

Just trying to decide where I want to sit?

Where do you like to sit when you're travelling on your own?
I've only even been in business when I'm on my own so just gathering opinion Smile

I'm the opposite to everyone. I like to sit at the back or at least back of a section against a bulkhead as it's easier with DC not to have anyone behind you and to be close to the toilets! If I was solo I would go window seat anywhere close to an exit with a view ie not over the wing.

theemmadilemma · 15/11/2021 12:36

I always sit isle. I hate having to push out past people. I usually prefer last or first row. Most often I'll chose very last row backing the toilets (but my usual regular flight is only 1.45 hrs so never had stinky pooing going on behind me!!).

rookiemere · 15/11/2021 12:36

Window if wanting to sleep, aisle if not.

Aisle seat, by the wings.

Chenga · 15/11/2021 12:40

Aisle, as far up the front as possible. If there is a row of 2 available then would choose that.

Don’t mind sitting near kids, it’s their awful parents I can’t stand.

Isn't it funny how some of us have left / right preferences. I prefer to sit on the right as the plane is flying

I think I'll give the 2-2 at the back a miss as they are right by the toilets
Didn't think about an aisle seat in the middle 3 so that might be a good idea

I don't like the tables you have in extra legroom although it's only £36 to choose
Standard seat only £11

It's a 777 but only 4 hour flight so not that long

In the departures lounge.

I hate flying (but appreciate its sometimes necessary).

@TomAllenWife

Have a look at your actual flight on seat guru Smile It shows bad, good and ok seats.

GiantKitten · 15/11/2021 13:14

I always pay for extra legroom over the wing unless it’s a short flight (I’m 6’ tall with very long thighs)
And I try to get one with another extra legroom row behind, so there won’t be any small children in it (over wing = emergency exit), and they will also have the stowaway tray so won’t be bashing the back of my seat with that either.
(“Hell is other people” squared on planes Hmm)

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/11/2021 13:22

I forgot to say that I usually sit on the north side of the plane if possible as I find it gets too hot on the sunny side. This makes me POSH in its original sense (port out, starboard home).

TomAllenWife · 15/11/2021 13:23

@GiantKitten I use seat guru too Smile

Aisle, towards front ideally as usually planes embark/disembark only at the front

PAFMO · 15/11/2021 13:27

Back, but one row from the back back. On the right.
If alone I'd go aisle. I'm usually with DD so she gets the window and I get the fat bloke who hasn't had a shower but brought his burger for company.

TuftyMarmoset · 15/11/2021 13:34

Aisle, on the left hand side of the aisle and towards the front as you are usually off quicker and are more likely to get a choice of meal (if you don’t pre-book a dietary requirements one).

poppym12 · 15/11/2021 13:39

Aisle seat btw rows 5 and 9, preferably D.

RavingAnnie · 15/11/2021 13:42

Definitely aisle seat. Not back row as sears don't recline.

dannydyerismydad · 15/11/2021 13:46

Aisle seat - I hate being trapped by people I don't know. And as far from the toilet as possible. I bloody hate people queuing for the loo leaning on my seat of trying to sit on my shoulder like a fucking parrot.

itsanotherfineday · 15/11/2021 14:14

For long haul I like Aisle in the middle section so less chance someone climbing over you to get out. At front or rear of cabin, not in the middle

TheCheesyBakedBean · 15/11/2021 14:27

Window seat

TomAllenWife · 15/11/2021 14:48

These are my options

Always the aisle. Otherwise you finish up having sex with a stranger when you go for a wee.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/11/2021 14:54

After our last flight, a window seat on the side of the plane that gets the best view. It had never occurred to me before, and I was pleased enough that we had been given a window and a middle seat next to each other both there and back without having to pay extra. But then the pilot announcement that the people on the other side of the plane would be able to see the Alps, the Italian coast and mount Etna, wheres we mostly got to look at the sea.

So in future I'm going to think more about where we are going and what is visible from the window when choosing seats

Immaculatemisconception · 15/11/2021 14:54

Any aisle seat.

VenusClapTrap · 15/11/2021 15:45

Window seat away from the wing so I can watch the view. Preferably not close to the loos. I quite like being at the rear because if there are any spare seats, that’s usually where they’ll be be.

Howyoualldoworkme · 15/11/2021 15:50

Inside preferably Grin
