Just that really

What age would you think did this drawing?
OP posts:

What are the little people in the corner doing?

Op, what do you think this says regarding diagnosis?

Comedycook · 11/11/2021 22:00

I found it hard to tell...the concept is quite simple which made me think a young child but the actual shapes and colouring are quite precise and neatly drawn which made me think slightly older.

It's lovely though...Smile

Morechocmorechoc · 11/11/2021 22:00

Honestly at 11 mine would have been similar but more outside the lines and I'm not on the spectrum. This drawing isn't going to answer anything for you I'm afraid.

supremelybaffled · 11/11/2021 22:01

The gingerbread person is in proportion so I was thinking around 9.

FreshFancyFrogglette · 11/11/2021 22:01

I was going to say anywhere older than age 7, but tbh my 11 yr old DD has always struggled with motor skills, and wouldn't be able to draw as neatly as that. There has been comments from teachers that she might be on the spectrum, as it runs on her dad's side of the family, but we have never had her assessed.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/11/2021 22:01

6 or 7 years old

Hydrate · 11/11/2021 22:01

6 years old.

flippertyop · 11/11/2021 22:03

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove OP? That this is good or bad for an 11 year old? It's neither - depends on the child. Most kids can colour like that aged about 6 or 7 and the drawings look like quite a young child but not everyone is good at art so I wouldn't be concerned by the standard of it either !! It's definitely not child prodigy neither is it really awful as it's quite neat

Ohdofuckofdear · 11/11/2021 22:03

About 8 years old.

It's a lovely drawing and the colouring is very very neat.

Bettybantz · 11/11/2021 22:05

I’m wondering why this is significant too? My ASD teenager is terrible at drawing. He takes it all in good spirits when we play Pictionary at Christmas. I’m not sure it’s part of his diagnosis though.
The way the OP is written tends to lead us into thinking there must be something unusual about the ability to age match

Angrymum22 · 11/11/2021 22:05

If it was my son I’d say 11 but for his cousin I’d say 3.
DS was never a talented artist his cousin however is amazing. They are now both in their late teens, DS would struggle to do much better now. However he is considerably more talented in other subjects.

ladygindiva · 11/11/2021 22:05

I was relieved to read this, my almost 5 year olds could not do this. I'm saying 7/8

user1000000000009 · 11/11/2021 22:05

My 10 year old probably couldn't manage this but he's autistic and has adhd so really struggles with things like this.

Maybe 8?

Eltonsglasses · 11/11/2021 22:06

It was done by an 11 year old who is currently being assessed for being on the spectrum

So what's the point? Some people are good at art, others are not. My autistic 11 years old wouldn't have the focus or patience to draw one of the things in the picture, never mind the whole thing. People are all different though and why or without autism some people are better at drawing than others. What were you hoping to get out of the thread?

EdgeOfTheSky · 11/11/2021 22:06

My Ds (NT) would have fine that at 11.

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/11/2021 22:06

5 I would say, a year 1 child.

cowburp · 11/11/2021 22:07

And why do you think their drawing ability has anything to do with it? I don't mean that rudely, I am genuinely curious.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 11/11/2021 22:08

Late 80's?
Picasso was still painting aged 91 and it could be one of his cubist paintings.

(if it is it will be worth a bob or two.)

You are one of those people who think the worst right away - unless there is something in my OP to say that I’m have a genius or I’m so proud (there isn’t and I’m not) stop jumping to conclusions and assuming everyone is here for clout.

No it’s not a stealth boast

It was done by an 11 year old who is currently being assessed for being on the spectrum[/quote]
That I would believe. There's a lot of precision and symmetry going on there. But less standard imagination. The total lack of ornamentation on the Christmas tree is a bit unusual.

ThirdElephant · 11/11/2021 22:12

An artistic 6 year old.

More importantly though, are we really at Christmas trees and ginger bread already?! I was so much more organised last year!

FluffyBooBoo · 11/11/2021 22:12

I would say 6/7

BangaloreLulu · 11/11/2021 22:12

I don't care what age drew it. (Or that I'm missing the point entirely.) It's lovely, has been done carefully, with attention to detail and with the intention of making someone else happy. I'd be happy to receive it from any child.
