Dinner for 6 in Liverpool this Saturday... everywhere's booked up!

This is a birthday celebration and none of us live in Liverpool. Various mumsnetters recommended Bacaro, Lu-Ban, Mowgli, but they are booked up. I'm considering Baltic Market - they don't take any bookings though, will that be a problem?

Any other ideas?

It's very much a "chain" but Gusto on the Albert Docks is huge and nice. Worth checking if they have a table.

Hungry675tf · 11/11/2021 20:38

Baltic market would be fine, its really nice.

Have you tried both Mowgli's as there are two?

Rudy's pizza is amazing, again, there are two to chose from

Leaf on bold street would also be very nice

Panoramic?

xmasdealhunter · 11/11/2021 20:40

Maray Allerton look like they have some spaces on the Saturday, I've been once when visiting friends and it was lovely

If you’re going for a market I’d suggest Duke St market rather than Baltic market if it’s for a birthday - bit cosier in winter and has more of a restaurant feel Smile

Salt House Tapas and El Gato Negro are both lovely. Baltic Market is just big long tables canteen style with food stalls around the edge. It’ll be busy but you will probably be able to squeeze in next to others. You don’t get your own table. You need to order your own food from the different stalls but there is waiter service for drinks if you like. I find it all a bit of a faff to be honest. I personally don’t find it very special. It’s like a trendy shopping mall type food hall really.

Salt House Tapas or Tiger Rock, the one in town is on North John St

lnsufficientFuns · 11/11/2021 21:18

La Lunya for amazing Spanish tapas - completely authentic

Almas de Cuba - mojitos and tapas

TossieFleacake · 11/11/2021 21:19

Salt House tapas is lovely.
Fazenda is the best 'meat' type place I've eaten at, highly recommend.
Casa Italia is so authentic and delicious but very popular so may also be full.

JanetandJohn500 · 11/11/2021 21:22

Churrasco has just opened in town. We love the Aigburtg one so I would image that would be excellent.

Tanyaexoticsexgoddess · 11/11/2021 21:22

Heritage on castle street is lovely

torquewench · 11/11/2021 21:27

Baltic market is a bit tatty, IMO, and quite, er, industrial.

AnnaMagnani · 11/11/2021 21:30

La Lunya?

InPatagonia · 11/11/2021 21:31

If there’s 6 or more of you, you may be able to book the Casa Italia on Stanley St - they only take bookings for 6 people + so there’s always a massive queue down the street, but it’s nice and well priced with a good atmosphere.

Thinkbiglittleone · 11/11/2021 21:31

The Chung Ku, does great food, probably booked up now but worth a whirl.

GoodnightGrandma · 11/11/2021 21:32

There’s a really good Chinese on the dock road, it’s above a Chinese supermarket. Sorry, can’t remember the name.

torquewench · 11/11/2021 21:33

Trattoria 51 on Old Hall Street is nice.

InPatagonia · 11/11/2021 21:33

Tai Pan?

InPatagonia · 11/11/2021 21:34

Or the vegetarian Indian restaurant on Bixteth Street, but that tends to get really busy. The food is lovely though.

GoodnightGrandma · 11/11/2021 21:34

Revolution de Cuba on Albert Dock was nice.

Lordamighty · 11/11/2021 21:36

Maray on Albert Dock. Delifonseca dockside. You won’t be disappointed if you can get a table at Delifonseca.

ScouseQueen · 11/11/2021 21:37

Book Maray if there is still space at the Allerton Road one. It's really nice. Or try the other Mowgli. Lunya also good

torquewench · 11/11/2021 21:41

Chung Ku and Tai Pan are OK but both miles out of town, in Toxteth or Kirkdale, with no other bars etc. nearby.

Hope Street has a few nice places. Turncoat on Albert Dock is nice, despite being underground 🙂

LulusMiniEgg · 11/11/2021 21:42

Elif on Bold Street for Turkish, the food is amazing
Maray is great, get the disco cauliflower!
La lunya tapas was nice when I had it

MyDcAreMarvel · 11/11/2021 21:43
