I just can't quite manage it....the sour taste etc...

I did’t get used to it..i just like it.

The skyr natural yogurt is about the only one I can tolerate

toastofthetown · 10/11/2021 14:24

I think just trial and error to see if there is one you like. My husband loves greek yogurt and will eat at plain, but I find it too rich to eat any more than a small amount with a lot of fruit. I prefer a thinner natural yogurt, either with fruit or honey to sweeten.

But if you don't like it then you don't have to eat it.

Another vote here for Skyr Icelandic yoghurt. I have it with fruit and a sprinkling of nutmeg or cinnamon. And occasionally, when I am feeling indulgent, a light drizzle of caramel sauce Grin
I never particularly liked plain yoghurt until I tried Skyr.

Fage Greek yogurt in the blue and white tub is lovely, try adding a little fruit if you don't like it plain.

Do try natural Kefir, the Yeo Valley one's tasty, that's also nice with a little fruit.

Go savoury: chopped mint leaves and cucumber and even onion.
Delicious with spiced or tomatoey foods.

SpookyPumpkinPants · 10/11/2021 14:48

I low carb, so I've tried a LOT of Greek yogurts.

I prefer the Fage Total Greek Yogurt (full fat) and am happy to eat it on its own or use it with savoury meals.

I sometimes add berries & toasted flaked almonds for breakfast as I feel fuller, longer.

I'd start with that one as most people who enjoy Greek yogurt can agree it's nice (even if not their favourite) then you can try others with that as your bar.

If they have clear liquid on top, mix it in, it helps with digestion - don't throw drain it off (as another poster said as well)

Add a small dollop of lemon curd or jam and the reduce it until you don’t need it

FrankGrillosFloof · 10/11/2021 14:51

I started by adding a spoonful of icing sugar to a pot and stirring well. Then I gradually dropped the amount to 3/4 spoon, 1/2 spoon and so on. Honey would also work.

The Lidl Greek Yoghurt is delicious. I mix in crushed blueberries (just a few) and a tiny bit of very, very dark chocolate. This has been my treat during pregnancy as I have gestational diabetes. You do adjust to things not tasting as sweet - I had a diet pepsi the other day and it tasted quite sickly; I'd never have described them that way before!

Alternatively but a bit less practically, go to Greece! The yoghurt there is so much nicer Wink

WinterFirTree · 10/11/2021 14:54

I adore plain greek yoghurt- it has to be full fat though, none of this watery low fat stuff.

My Dcs both also only eat plain yoghurt- by preference over fruit 'kids' yoghurts.

The Dcs eat it completely plain. I will sometimes add honey and nuts. I also sometimes grate chocolate over it. Gorgeous.

TBH it was going to Greece that turned both DCs to eating plain yogurt over anything else. They went crazy over plain yogurt and fresh peaches. Mmmmmmm.
NadiaVulvokov · 10/11/2021 14:56

Fage is lovely

Doomscrolling · 10/11/2021 14:59

That low fat stuff is revolting, I don’t know how anyone tolerated it.

Full fat Greek yogurt has a slight tang, but I got used to it quickly and now much prefer it to anything sweetened. Your palate adjusts.

Rummikub · 10/11/2021 15:00

Make raita instead?
Add cucumber and mint
Eat with toasted pitta.

I agree, Skyr is vile, it doesn't even taste like yoghurt. I eat pretty much anything but I draw the line at that. Mind you, I was brought up on Fage.
TuftyMarmoset · 10/11/2021 15:01

Why have it at all if you don’t like it? My DP doesn’t like yoghurt either.

ihavespoken · 10/11/2021 15:02

Put vanilla essence in it! you only need a tiny bit to take the sour edge off
