I Just Had A Terrible Thought About Supermarket Sandwiches

What if the 2 triangles enclosed in their card and cellophane coffin are from 2 different square whole sandwiches?! I feel very uneasy thinking that my 2 christmassy sandwich triangles that I ate by a river earlier weren't related in any way. Has anybody checked this out by trying to reassemble the parts?

I think you might be right.

Thatsplentyjack · 06/11/2021 22:09

And someone can't take a joke 🙄

Burnamer · 06/11/2021 22:10

Why would they do that though?!

makelovenotpetrol · 06/11/2021 22:10

I'm not sure this is as funny to other people as it maybe was in your head OP

VsgKitt · 06/11/2021 22:11

😂

This is the kind of thing I think about often.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/11/2021 22:12

It’s a thing. You need to realise and accept they almost definitely were unrelated. They were forced to share a box and they never even knew each other beforehand.

But you got to enjoy them both and it sounds like a nice experience.

Mysterian · 06/11/2021 22:12

I hope I didn't eat some kind of frankensten's sandwich. Just doesn't seem natural.

You’re probably right to be fair 🤯

SourMilkGhyll · 06/11/2021 22:13

Thanks for that. Now I'm going to have a whole new level of worrying to complete every time I see a prepacked sandwich, never mind when actually eating one 🤣

Next time I have one there'll be a MN thread about the crazy lady on the train who was disecting and attempting to reassemble the parts of a triangle sandwich. 😄

NiceGerbil · 06/11/2021 22:13

Relax OP.

You can tell they are related by filling placement.

The filing is always piled along the diagonal to look generous in packet. Check a couple with eg bacon lettuce. They are related I am certain. You will NOT be able to do this with mayonnaise based fillings.

Try to relax all is well :)

Maybe they liked meeting new sandwich halves?

No no no.

A non paired sandwich. Although only thought about since saw this thread. Is just an appalling thought. It makes me feel quite uncomfy :D

AssassinatedBeauty · 06/11/2021 22:16

"Frankenstein's sandwich" ! Brilliant.

I had never thought of this as a possibility and now I am disturbed that you could be right.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 06/11/2021 22:16

The fillings aren't related but the triangles of bread probably were.
I think I saw a programme or read about it.

chickeneggy · 06/11/2021 22:16

@Mysterian I have this same thought about triple sandwiches ! Where has its twin gone ? Are the other two twins ? Or are they all unrelated ?

Wink
VsgKitt · 06/11/2021 22:18

Actually... Are shoes even really pairs? Or are all the left and rights made separately and they're just put in a box with no real relationship Confused Does being put in the box make them a pair.

IcedCoffeeAlways · 06/11/2021 22:19

@Mysterian I hate to break it to you OP - but it’s 100% the case 😓 grabbed a quick M&S sandwich for a train journey one day with DH and on opening mine I had two bottom triangles 😳

I’m not sure what was more outrageous - the fact that I had 2 unrelated sandwiches or the fact DH didn’t know there was any difference between the top and bottom crust on a slice of bread 😐 he genuinely had no idea what I was talking about!

Hecates · 06/11/2021 22:19

Hate to tell you this, but in a past life worked at the factory which produces all the main brands two sandwiches are stacked one on top of another, that is cut in half with each half going into a pack. They are never the same half's of one sandwich.

Hortonhearsadoctorwho · 06/11/2021 22:22

I am so upset by this, thanks op.

Oh, this makes me so sad. I like to think of my shoes being together.

Also, the milk in your tea comes from more than one cow. See also, mince.

DPotter · 06/11/2021 22:23

A million years ago I worked in a cafe and part of the job was making sandwiches. And I'm sorry I have to tell you we made sandwiches by stacking them on top of each other.

@VsgKitt I actually do know this one 😅 I’m afraid it depends on the quality of the shoe 🙈 cheaper shoes almost always have a whole batch of lefts and a whole batch of rights made and they and just paired at the end for shipping! More expensive quality shoes go through the factory together as a pair (very good manufacturers cut them from the same piece of leather too!) and therefore have a much better finish!
NiceGerbil · 06/11/2021 22:24

Oh god I hadn't even thought of triples!

That concerns me. My initial optimism may have been... Optimistic!

What does this mean for wraps?
