Interested to know who people are charitably giving to these days and why.
I’ve always done a regular small DD donation to MSF after having my baby. It was horrific and I felt dreadful for women who weren’t safety in the first world like I was.
I give an odd bit for Palestine every year because I’m “angry” .
I love dogs and have had a couple of rescue dogs until recently. I now give a bit for a dogs charity that neuters dogs in Europe because it’s better than rehoming what are essentially feral dogs.
I do my local schools lottery because they need funds, as do I.

Interested to see MN trends.

Local charity called Zarach.
They give bed bundles to children and families in crisis. Children who don’t have beds.

Lightisnotwhite · 05/11/2021 20:48

It’s really nice there’s a spread. I always feel sorry for small charities that get no publicity.

I give most of my (worthwhile!) unwanted clothes and other items to The British Heart Foundation, and I give money to the campaign to save the art deco lido in Grange-Over-Sands:

Two small animal charities on a regular basis, and then other charities more ad hoc. My local charity shop is Shelter and they get regular donations of goods whenever I have a clear out.

Msf, water aid, dogs trust and cancer uk.

Dogs trust because it was my Mums charity and I promised I'd carry it on after she was gone, the other three because I chose them. When I turned 60 I was inundated with charity requests. My way out of the guilt of not giving to everyone was to choose these.

And at xmas, I give to a local charity called firefly. They ferry people with cancer to the nearest city for treatment. They're a godsend.

BlueFlavour · 05/11/2021 21:00

I sponsor a child, and have done for about 15 years.

RNW · 05/11/2021 21:06

We donate monthly to Ronald McDonald House....a charity that we have used for a number of weeks over the years. Truly a wonderful charity-it gave us sanity when were on the edge and provided us with a space as a family where we could all be together.
Also GOSH charity, we are forever grateful for their work.

I give $500/year to the Australian Conservation Fund - as the name suggests they work on environmental conservation in Australia.

My phone provider lets you donate your unused data to people in need. I'm trying to get them to change how it's done so I can donate more at the end of the month - currently capped at 10GB every 12hrs, which takes days to donate the unused bit of my monthly 80GB. The data goes to various foundations for kids and others in need to use.

RampantIvy · 05/11/2021 21:11

Food banks
Clothes banks

I buy food/supplies for the local food bank most weeks. We're in a pretty deprived area in the North East.

One off donations for various charities whenever friends are raising money for them.
