...what are you having for dinner tonight?

I am following the above as on an elimination eating plan. Had about as much chicken and rice as I can take this week Smile so would love some other suggestions please!

Can you eat eggs? An omelette might be nice (doesn’t have to contain cheese).

Tangfastic91 · 05/11/2021 11:44

Toad in the hole with GF sausages. The 'hole' is made with cornflour, soya milk and eggs and puffs up lovely!

mbosnz · 05/11/2021 11:44

Seafood or beef chowmein?
Chili beef and nachos?
Teriyaki Salmon and noodles?
Steak and Veges?
A burger, with a gluten free bun? (Honest Burger do a mean gluten free burger)
Gluten free fish and chips?

I'm not strictly either but don't eat much dairy (unless it's occassionally pizza or chocolate) and I only use gf pasta.
spag bol with gf spaghetti
spicy bacon pasta - tomato sauce, peppers, mushrooms, chilli, bacon
chicken & broccoli pesto pasta
risotto (check the stock is gf, I use Marigold powdered veg stock)
kedgeree
any meat & veg type dinner with gf gravy
stir fry with rice or rice noodles. A lot of Asian dishes are dairy free so worth browsing for inspiration.
cod, chips & peas
jacket potato & salad
chilli & rice

Siriisatwat · 05/11/2021 11:48

Fuck all because I’m so bored of the foods I can eat.

I’ll probably have an apple.

I want some one to invent a pill I can take once a day instead of eating.

Koalaslippers · 05/11/2021 11:58

Gluten and dairy free household, we are having paella tonight.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 05/11/2021 13:20

I was going to do Shepherds pie.

WoodburnersRUs · 05/11/2021 13:23

Curry and rice. Coconut milk is great.

DontBeADodo · 05/11/2021 13:25

Roast veg, see Jamie Olivers for recipe with a jacket potato

SameToo · 05/11/2021 13:27

Not sure about tonight but last night had burgers with gluten free bread and sweet potato fries.

I have had a bad reaction to something I ate a few days ago that was supposedly gf and df so not feeling great. I think eating out is over for me.

moofolk · 05/11/2021 13:32

Sea bass with roast veg and salad.

I had omelette with black pudding, bacon, courgette and spinach for lunch with just a tomato & dressing on the side as couldn't ba making a proper salad.

Later I'm having bolognese but with courgette sautéed in butter instead of pasta.

I'm low carb so no rice atm, but basically meat or fish and vegetables it's a great food combo!

Me too and I’m just so fucking bored of it I could cry (and have).

I’ve ordered some GF meal replacement shakes as I just need a break from food, I hate it at the moment.

winterisaroundthecorner · 05/11/2021 13:39

My dc is allergic to dairy, eggs and wheat amongst many others, so we have very strict restricted diet. But actually we eat pretty normal menu. We follow a lot of gluten free vegan recipes, and there's alternatives for most of the things, like plant milk and gluten free flours.

Crisispoint21 · 05/11/2021 13:39

Vegetable chilli made with Butternut squash and butter beans and smoked papeika with rice and some grated violife cheese on top

Clementineapples · 05/11/2021 13:44

Gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian.
Quorn mince - chilli, spag bol, shepherds pie etc
Roast dinner with gluten free puds stuffing and gravy.
Gluten free bangers & mash.
Curry, stir fry, stew etc

You can pretty much adapt any meal you like

Yourdeadtome · 05/11/2021 13:46

Not sure tonight but last night had a roast, vegan chicken, gf/df gravy, veg, was delicious

ChocAuVin · 05/11/2021 13:48

Literally all proper food is gf and df in my world — meat, fish, veg, eggs, nuts, seeds and a bit of fruit and dark choc Smile

Tiddlywinks10 · 05/11/2021 13:49

I’m not but have a close friend who is

Quinoa pasta
Rice- paella/risotto
Sweet potato to mix things up
Gf jus rol puff pastry is vegan for a tart or pie
Lots of curries
Tagines
Corn tacos (hard shell)

Then meat and veg :)

SpeckledyHen · 05/11/2021 13:49

Salmon with stir fried veggies

Breathmiller · 05/11/2021 13:52

I'm vegan and wheat free so could have ideas. There's been some good ones above.
Maybe it would help if you could say what you usually eat and we can think of how to make as close as possible gf and df.

We're having nachos tonight.

Breathmiller · 05/11/2021 13:56

Also dh is a meat eater but lactose intolerant so could help with meat dishes.

I find the best pizzas are Kirstys pizzas or White Rabbit.

And my favourite bread is the Schar seeded loaf. The Be free range is quite good too.

Tesco Free From pasta is good as is there vegan pesto.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 05/11/2021 14:17

Dust. I just eat dust. I’m not just gluten and dairy free. I also have ibs and a broken bladder that reacts to food as well. So I eat dust.

I hear you. I'm back on a very restricted diet again (low fat, low FODMAP, low carb).

It's challenging.

Acunningruse · 05/11/2021 15:46

Thank you everyone and Flowers to those who have to eat restrictively all the time, it must be very wearing to have to check every item before buying it. I just 'popped' to M and S to get something for dinner and was in there over an hour, so time-consuming to check all labels! Anyway I went with burgers and sweet potato fries but am saving all these ideas for next week, might do bean tacos tomorrow night as we have some in the cupboard.

Other meals this week included:

  • chicken stir fry and rice
  • bean fajitas made with be free wraps
  • cod covered in thai green curry paste baked in coconut milk with sugar snap peas and rice
  • chicken marinaded in spices and dairy free yoghurt, baked in oven served with rice
  • left over roast pork and sweet potatoesa and veg (missed the gravy though!)
