Just booked tickets to the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House for my mum's Christmas present. We live in the sticks, so please send me your best recommendations for some great food places to have dinner while we're there!

And I’d walk over to J Sheekey’s for dinner. Ten mins from the ROH, and my favourite restaurant in the world.

Or Joe Allen's if you fancy American style food, and really good cocktails. Buzzy and fun.

Thought this thread was going to be about soup flavours. Disappointed.

The Opera Tavern, just across from the ROH for excellent tapas, Spanish food and sherry.

Chichetti - Italian tapas . Lovely food and cocktails

Christopher’s on Wellington Street....very good steak yum yum!

Pasta Brown is good - not expensive, quick service, handy because we were in a rush

Just perusing some of these menus...how I wish we were staying for a few nights! They all look amazing.

Rules is the winner for me so far but J Sheekey is a very close second - both have oysters though so we're good either way

Oh, if you like fish check out Parson's. The online menu is really short, but there are lots of daily specials. V. handy for the ROH.

Some great ones mentioned particularly clos maggiore, and rules but no ones mentioned balthazar

I love seven dials and end up in Rosso Pomodoro or Dishoom usually

Rules is at its best at Christmas time: amazing traditional festive decorations so I’d go there (we actually try to go every Christmas as a tradition). If it wasn’t Christmas I’d recommend the Opera Tavern as pp said

Don’t you find Sheekey’s stuck up? It’s the only smart restaurant I’ve ever been to where the staff had an unpleasant attitude.

Not a regular though, I might have been unlucky.

Frenchie. The bacon scones haunted my lockdown dreams.

I like the Oystermen on Henrietta Street. Have only ever eaten outside though, the inside is small. Amazing food.
