Hi everyone, I'm expecting a girl soon and just wondering which of these names you prefer? Thanks

OP posts:
CaptainSpirit · 04/11/2021 11:10

Violet, but I'm biased because its my eldest DDs name. I've always really loved it. Smile

BubblesThaDragoon · 04/11/2021 11:10

Sophia

Cas112 · 04/11/2021 11:25

Violet, as the others are incredibly popular.

PeskyRooks · 04/11/2021 11:27

Violet

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/11/2021 11:28

I think it's just a personal thing isn't it, what suits her when she's here and what you yourself like for her OP. What other people like or what is most popular doesn't need to factor unless you let it.

I can't say I gravitate towards any of them. I prefer Sophie to Sophia.

blametheparents · 04/11/2021 11:31

They are all lovely names!
Enjoy your baby girl Smile

H1978 · 04/11/2021 11:33

Violet for me too

NCasrecognisedanAIBU · 04/11/2021 11:34

Violet.

Sophia and Freya are just too commonplace.

Gonnagetgoing · 04/11/2021 11:35

neither of them are great - I know 2 adults named Sophia and Freya though.

I'd worry that Violet would be shortened to Vi which sounds old womanish to me.

amusedbush · 04/11/2021 11:44

I know three Violets under 5 so I would choose Freya, it’s really pretty.

secretbookcase · 04/11/2021 11:53

Sophia is my all time favourite girl's name and I love Freya too.

Much less keen on Violet - it manages to be both wimpy and sound like 'violent' at the same time. Also when I see it written down it reminds me of the word 'toilet'.

OhMyCrump · 04/11/2021 11:54

I like Violet best, but they're all nice.

toastofthetown · 04/11/2021 12:00

Any of them. They are all very safe (boring) popular names.

FindingMeno · 04/11/2021 12:00

Violet.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 04/11/2021 12:12

I love them all, one of my daughters has one of these names

bestcattoyintheworld · 04/11/2021 12:15

Freya is lovely.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/11/2021 12:23

That. Not that there is anything wrong with boring and safe names.

nonono1 · 04/11/2021 12:28

I wouldn’t say Violet is particularly “safe” personally - I’ve never met a child with that name and would consider it quite unusual. The other two names are admittedly far more safe, conventional choices. And for that reason Violet is my favourite of the three!

3peassuit · 04/11/2021 12:29

Violet is lovely.

Chemenger · 04/11/2021 12:49

Violet. I love those slightly old fashioned names, Maude is a particular favourite, but that is, apparently, just me! I've never met a Violet but I don't know any 5-year-olds, so that may be why, by the sounds of it. Both my DDs have names that turned out to be very popular in their age groups, while unknown in girls even 5 years older, I don't know how it happens but it's never been a problem either.

ThePenIsBlue · 04/11/2021 12:52

In my child’s school, there are 3 Violets, 1 Freya and 6 Sophia’s!!! It’s a small primary school of 110 kids. I’d say Sophia and Violet are far more popular than Freya

spiderlight · 04/11/2021 12:54

Freya or Sophia.

NannyR · 04/11/2021 12:54

Personally, I really don't like violet. Both Sophia and Freya are very popular, I do love Freya though and Sophie rather than Sophia.

UnitedRoad · 04/11/2021 12:56

I love Freya
