Favourite Cover?

I think this thread has been done before, but I’ve just discovered my favourite ever cover.

It’s James TW’s version of Torn, originally by Natalie Imbruglia.

I thought her original was ok, nothing to write home about, but I’ve had his on repeat for days now (it’s especially good if you’re listening on a device with good bass).

What’s your favourite cover?

The original was by a band called Ednaswap. Natalie Imbruglia's version was a cover.

I hate to say it but 'Please please please let me get what I want' from the John Lewis ad several years ago. It's a great listen if you feel like emersing yourself in absolute melancholy

LennyMurdoch · 02/11/2021 22:49

I think it has to be 'I will always love you'

So many. Jonny cash bird on a wire with the philharmonic? Orchestra

ODFOgrinch · 02/11/2021 23:22

Chester Bennington of Linkin Park did an amazing version of Rolling in the Deep.

But the best cover IMO is Johnny Cash's version of the NIN song Hurt.

'I can't make you love me' - George Michael

Johnny Cash covers are awesome. One and Personal Jesus for starters

Arctic Monkeys love machine is my fave, though

Second that @OnlyClothes - one of my favorite bands ever, phenomenal job with Sounds of Silence. Spine chilling!

Sound of Silence by Disturbed.

I love that one…. And Pentatonix also did a brilliant version.

Dizzee Rascal's version of That's Not My Name by The Ting Tings sounds like it should be the original! I don't even like his music usually but that is just brilliant.

Gary Clarke Jr completely OWNED Come Together by The Beatles, Aerosmith's version was pretty good too.

Geamhradh · 03/11/2021 08:51

Mad World by Gary Jules
Stairway to Heaven by Heart. (seriously- performed in front of LZ themselves and they were floored by it)

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/11/2021 08:57

True Faith by Sophie Ellis Bextor. Also love her cover of Duel.

Crabwoman · 03/11/2021 10:32

Easy (like Sunday morning) covered by Faith no More.

Mike Patten has an amazing voice and his ''oooh'' during it is phenomenal 😂

“Arctic Monkeys love machine is my fave, though“

Yes, this one makes me laugh

Purpleguitar · 03/11/2021 10:40

Kate Rusby has a whole album of covers out. Really different sound to them. Manic Monday and Cyndi Lauper's True Colours are gorgeous. Pop with a folk twist.

AlternativeCarpark · 03/11/2021 14:25

Really like a lot of covers but the one I'm listening to/ watching most at the moment is Monster Mash:

I really love John Meyer's cover of Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. I absolutely love Tom Petty but I think John's version is better!
