I've just settled down to re-watch Buffy

I did this..... It's sadly... Not as good as I found it the first time round!!

I loved Buffy and Spike.

I tried to watch it last year. I shouldn’t have. It looks like they are all wearing cheap masks, it was awful and I turned it off after 5 minutes. I think I made the mistake of trying to watch it from the beginning. It got way better didn’t it? Like that musical episode will never leave my mind.

I enjoyed it. In the middle of Angel now. It’s not quite the same now you don’t have to wait a week between each episode, but then nothing is.

I recently rewatched season one! It’s so old but so good- make your teen watch the movie first for the background though!

I'll have to have a look for it. Dd2 would probably enjoy it too, I think.

It's definitely not the same, & it does look dated but I really enjoyed it as a teen!

I often find with things like this you have to ignore the first season or so. Although now I'm starting my tween dd on stuff like ti's so it's much more fun and I'm focused on her reaction to stuff.

I enjoyed it recently, knowing it was old. Disappointed to find out about Joss Weedon though. It taints it.

I can't feel the same about it now that we know how much of a dicksmack Joss turned out to be, how problematic he was on set, and how much SMG hated being made to wear those super short skirts.

The baddies in season 1 &2 Buffy are deeply unconvincing as far as I remember ...which is why it's so amazing and hilarious when Spike and Drusilla turn up and dominate, and things just take off from there. I haven't re-watched it for 20 years tho (but I want to now ...)

I watched all buffy and angel over lockdown.

I did skip buffy season 6 this time.

It does look old and the makeup and cgi isn’t as good as what we’re used to now but honestly I think that’s part of the enjoyment. It’s sort of campy and fun and I think that adds to it.

I loved Cordelia. You need to just roll with her wearing a burgundy leather ensemble with kitten heels to school and that’s apparently allowed but she’s amazing.

Also absolutely love the episode where the chocolate turns all the adults into teenagers and Buffy ends up running round trying to sort her headmaster, her mum, and Giles.

It gets really good in series 2

No, sorry. It's very much a teen show with the associated sex, drinking, and horror elements.

Also I wonder if a nine year old would actually find it a bit boring? There are some longer overarching storylines and a lot of humour I think a nine year old would miss out on.

I still love it. When I'm in my nursing home one day they can stick my DVDs on my obselete dvd player and I will be happy.

I re watched Buffy and Angel a couple of years ago. I'm now onto sabrina the teenage witch 🤣

I watched it with my 10 year old son recently. To be honest I read ahead on Wikipedia before each episode so I was ready to explain any of the sexual things. We stopped midway through the season where I read Buffy dies, comes back and starts sleeping with Spike as I was finding it difficult to explain……

I rewatched it recently. There are definitely good and bad episodes but I really enjoyed it. I also rewatched Friends and I think Buffy has aged better.

The first series is bad. But stick with it. We're on season 5 and I'm obsessed with it all over again!

People forget that the audience grew up with each new season. So as the cast grow the age of the audience did to.
Watching seasons back to back this growth is missing for the audience. The connection to the cast is an,t the same.
I've loved rewatching but I don't think episodes that resonated with me as a teen have done with my own girls as much.

I was obsessed with Buffy and Angel, I had all the VHS box sets and knew some episodes off by heart.

I don’t know if I dare to watch with my 13 year old. Will it have lost its magic? Is the first season too dry for a modern teen? Is there too much sex? Are the monsters too frightening?

Abandon Buffy & Angel - go straight to Lucifer! Amazing series!

Ooh @tearitup I was wondering what to watch next, which is partly why I went for Buffy. I finished Once Upon A Time, again, last night. Maybe Lucifer will be "it"...this is not holding my attention like it used to 🤷‍♀️
