£10 present you’d buy yourself as a reward

I’m currently in counselling for trauma related to the breakdown of my marriage, I work part time despite my GP telling me when I split with my husband she can never see me working again, and my 7yo DC having some medical needs and limited input from my ExH, my family and ExHs family (I have full residency ExH has visitation rights for 1 night EOW thats all he and his family do, my family help occasionally).

My counsellor has said I should buy myself a small reward to tell myself I’m proud of myself and I am strong enough to get through anything thrown at me (it doesn't matter I have to ask for support that shows I am strong enough to reach out).

I can only afford £10. So if it was you what would you buy? Not chocolate or sweets or anything like that as buy those as part of my weekly shop anyway.

  1. I think you're amazing.

I would buy myself a book or a nice face mask

Thekormachameleon · 02/11/2021 13:14

Well done to you 😊
I'd buy a small bottle of wine, a nice bubble bath and a trashy paperback and enjoy an hour in the bath

TokyoSushi · 02/11/2021 13:15

Well done OP. A book or some really nice bath foam/shower gel/moisturiser etc.

lemons44 · 02/11/2021 13:21

Well done OP.

Some ideas below.

  • fancy bath bomb from lush
  • new pair of PJs or slippers from Primark
  • Next do little own brand perfumes or body mists which might be a nice idea as you can think how well you're doing every time you smell it.
  • A nice diary or note pad where you can record your thoughts or little quotes about how well you're doing. Amazon sell things like positive thoughts notebooks.
  • a nice book or DVD

Get something that will make you feel happy.

LagneyandCasey · 02/11/2021 13:21

Wll done, op!

Something you'll use everyday through the winter like a warm scarf or gloves.

BaggingAria · 02/11/2021 13:25

I'd get a plant - something that grows, the same way you're growing.

lurkingfromhome · 02/11/2021 13:25

Sounds like you've plenty to be proud of.

I'd buy a book then I'd go to a lovely café and have a coffee and cake and watch the world go by for an hour.

JustKickin · 02/11/2021 13:25

One of those wheat bag things you heat in the microwave.

I would actually probably get a nice load of sushi from fresh sushi counter at Waitrose. That is not at all run of the mill for me.

MonkeyPuddle · 02/11/2021 13:26

OP you’re a badass. And your counsellor sounds very sensible.

I think I’d buy an easy novel, one that doesn’t need too much brain power to read, a trashy novel and some nice bubble bath. Then spend a nice hour in the bath EOW.

Well done love, sounds like you’ve been put through the wringer.

I'd go with small bottle of prosecco, small box of choice, a cheap candle a really good ready meal. Have an evening to yourself and toast how far you've come :-)

Pumpkinsonparade · 02/11/2021 13:29

A diary - to write down your journey.

A rosequartz stone to carry in your pocket, put under your pillow etc. Rosequartz helps you to feel more self love.

A scarf or gloves to keep you warm this winter, or a pair of lovely luxury socks.

2bazookas · 02/11/2021 14:30

Two £5 potted orchids from Tesco.

(I bought exactly that for myself 10 days ago. They give me pleasure every day and make no demands).

This was going to be my suggestion. I have a Neal's Yard lavender one (I'm very anti MLM but it was a present!) and it makes getting into bed so lovely.

Alternatively go to TK Maxx or Homesense and buy a lovely candle by Sand & Fog.

If you can stretch to £15 and are near an Ikea, they do a lovely monstera plant. I bought one a few years ago and it's grown to enormous proportions.

You 100% deserve a reward for being a total rockstar Flowers

SpookyPumpkinPants · 02/11/2021 14:44

It's so hard to know what would make you happy.

You're doing really, really, well!!!

It sounds like a strange thing for your GP to say! But well done for proving them wrong!!

I know a lot of people think they're 'tat' or worse, but would something like this

www.moonpig.com/uk/personalised-cards/p/thinking-of-you-card--you-are-amazing/am022-sq/?gbraid=0AAAAAD4mpNjSa0Y1ijkcxg4cSqxy22eHa&gbraid=0AAAAAD4mpNjSa0Y1ijkcxg4cSqxy22eHa&gclid=Cj0KCQjww4OMBhCUARIsAILndv7kwvgr9dGDII31SBWwci6frAySn2eLaHb20UK-7SuJ79oOcHsDVCsaAt8VEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&size=13&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google

& a wee frame to put it in, remind you of how far you've come & that you will be ok!!

??
