My 4 year old has had to be shipped out for the week due to me having covid. He's back and I'm better. I just feel emotional. I'm not having more kids for several reasons. This is it. He's growing up. I need to look for schools etc.

I don't even know why I'm crying. Bluey the dog has set me off.

If you don't cry at Bluey, you're not human. Which episode has set you off?

MrsA2015 · 31/10/2021 18:30

FlowersCakeBrewhope you feel cheerful soon, there’s so much to come. Enjoy every moment.

I once howled at an episode of Small Potatoes. They were singing something like 'this is my family, this is my heart' and I just lost it. Just roll with it Grin

I haven't been the best mum

Awwww, Bingo is the cutest. Last week I cried at the camping one where Bluey grows up. Perhaps avoid it right now. Agree with PP that there's so much more to come Flowers

I haven't been the best mum

Who has? You don't have to be the best. Just good enough Thanks.

I could write you a long list of my failings as a mum. But my dcs have still turned into lovely adults.

WheatlandTerrier · 31/10/2021 18:39

I want him to be 4 forever! I'm just sad that's all. I'm on my own and his dad has stepped up a bit recently but sometimes I'm so exhausted

I cry at a lot of kids TV. Especially the theme music. It is sad to see them grow up, I know each stage has its own joys and challenges - when she was 1, I wanted her to be 1 forever; when she was 2 i wanted her to be 2 forever.
I know at some point I'll look back and really miss the little one she used to be.

WheatlandTerrier · 31/10/2021 18:43

I worry because he's an only no one will have his back.

I cried at that exact part of the sleepy time episode of Bluey the other day, I'm glad it's not just me. My excuse is I'm 10 weeks pregnant, sounds like you've been through a lot lately with covid and what you've said about your little one growing up fast. Totally understandable to cry Thanks

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar oh my goodness that Small Potatoes song!!! Every time.

ivfbabymomma1 · 31/10/2021 18:59

I'm an only and honestly I've never ever felt alone or like I'm missing anything or anyone. I've got strong friendships who might as well be siblings. Your little one will be fine I promise x

junebirthdaygirl · 31/10/2021 19:07

Covid can hammer you and l found it quite emotional especially in the recovery period. Go easy on yourself. To your little one you are the world. Recently l spoke to an only child and she said she wants one child as she loved her childhood so much she wants to replicate that. Your dc will be fine.
Rest as that dam Covid will have sapped your energy.

ZimZamZoom · 31/10/2021 19:12

I knew before even opening your thread that it would be Bluey that had set you off crying OP :)
I sobbed at the one where Bluey meets that little French boy whilst on a camping holiday, and they plant a seed and then he goes home without being able to say goodbye....and then they go back once they've grown up. Honestly, I sobbed!

I was an only child (to a single mum) so I always felt like we were a team. Us v the rest of the world. I cannot overstate how much I loved being an only child. The main reason being that my mum is only my mum, nobody else on the planet can call her mum and I just feel like that's so special.
Have a little cry though, it's normal and just means that you really appreciate your child and the joy they bring x

By the camping one do you mean the one where bluey makes a french friend? That one made me sob

CassTheFox · 31/10/2021 20:00

My husband has banned me from watching the film of Oliver Jeffers’ “Lost and Found” even though my kids love it. Every time it sets me off. The penguin wasn’t lost, he was just lonely 😢

I’ve also weeped at moments on Bluey, and Sarah and Duck. Pretty self controlled when it comes to any adult tv! You’re in good company OP Flowers
