Dd had her ears pierced a few months ago and they healed well but one is now getting itchy and pus on it. She’s back in her titanium studs but I’m wondering where to buy high quality earrings and what the safest metal is? Is it gold?
Thanks so much

@TheBodyPiercer

As it's my long term career I've obviously seen and fixed these issues countless times.

Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it's good advice.

Silver should never be worn long term, especially for people with sensitivities. It can oxidise and permanently mark the skin (that's why they go black).

9ct or plated gold also isn't suitable, its mystery metal with a coating.

Plastic is porous and can harbour bacteria.

Tea trea, other oils etc are far to harsh, sterile saline is all that's needed.

Your best bet is to visit a reputable piercer for appropriate fitting and appropriate materials.

If you had an issue with your car you'd visit a mechanic, issue with piercings ask a piercer.

People are still getting gun piercings and twisting them for 6 weeks. Yes they may heal but they would heal quicker if pierced appropriately and left alone. Just because something worked for someone else doesn't make it good advice.

So your recommendation is? I get where you're coming from but it would be common decency to advise in a professional capacity rather than denigrate PPs without an attempt at helping OP at all.

My recommendation is in the post you quoted. See a professional piercer for appropriately fitted jewellery in appropriate materials.

Titanium flat back barbells will be the most appropriate but as they come in 100s of different sizes you need a piercer to access and select the appropriate size.
