Do you go out every day?

Just that really. I'm not very good at staying at home. I have a child free weekend every other so me and my partner will always go out and about. Coffee shops, walking, shopping etc. Same when the kids are here really.

Chatting to my neighbour yesterday and she commented on the fact that we never sit still 😂. She's a lovely lady but is very much a home bird. Got me wondering if we are quite unusual and that people do tend to spend a lot of time at home pottering around the house...🤔🤔

Thank for all the responses 😁. Definitely a mixed bunch and that's good. So today we ended up going into Cardiff (local to us). Had lunch, a wander around the shops and then tea and cake. Got home and then took the dog out for an hour 🙈.

All good though as now we are settled in for the evening xx

When my children were little,I left the house everyday.
Now I don't work Thursday I spend that day pottering about the house and doing the online shop so my weekends are free for fun

I prefer to be at home but I live on a farm in the countryside so there’s always something to do. I really dislike shopping and have never been a fan of coffee shops. I don’t like going for walks either.
I adore pottering around my house, I have a large garden and lots of houseplants to look after. I’m quite crafty too so I’m always making something or learning how to make something.

Every day? I don’t even go out every week. I go out about twice a month, do my shopping and have lunch.

We moved to a new area, got settled, then Covid happened. I don’t know anyone here.

I go out most days. With grotty weather yesterday and period pains I had a rare pyjama day yesterday. Normally I walk school runs each week day and am involved in parkruns on Sat & Sun, plus runs, fitness classes, other volunteering. I worked out in lockdown that I was losing 3-5 miles of bursts of functional walking each week which is surprisingly hard to replace.

Lockdown #1 was hard being stuck living in DH's office, and the DCs' constant background noise, but decent weather made walking/ running a reasonable escape valve. Lockdown #3 was intolerable, I was so done on slopping through mud/ squelchy leaves/ rain.

I've not moved enough this week with half term and an injured child. I end up seizing up and have now reached the insomnia stage.

I know that is really hard Thursa ,Flowers I moved here not so long ago and making friends is hard.

I have to leave the house most days otherwise I wouldn't get those 10,000 steps in. If I walk to the shop to get milk that's 8,000 so it's not hard. I think it's weird to get in a car to drive 15 mins to sit in a coffee shop - surely it's worth getting a coffee machine if that's your thing. Since covid we have only visited family a couple of times so the car barely leaves the drive (we're mostly WFH as well)

We don't need to drive to grab a coffee. Have lots of lovely places within a not too bad walking distance x

I am very good at going out loads & spending little money while doing it.

Today : went swimming (regular membership). Cycled with DS to work.

Yesterday: walked neighbour's dog, long walk with friend, dropped stuff off (cycling) at textile bank.

My huge fear about covid was not being sick but rather being trapped on our property.

Every day. Bad weather doesn’t stop me. Even in the evening go for walks. Being inside all day would drive me up the bloody wall.

MrsBerthaRochester · 01/11/2021 08:29

Before lockdowns I went out everyday, shops, library, meet friends for coffee. But I had a breakdown this year and now I find it far easier to be at home. I go out twice a week to get food shopping and occasionally pop into charity shop for books/DVDs but that's it. I love winter as there is less pressure to be out and about doing stuff.

OP there's absolutely nothing wrong with your lifestyle. I enjoy going out as much as staying in. I love the hustle and bustle of life, the people watching. When I'm out I feel plugged into the world and part of something bigger.

I'm half introvert half extrovert but if going outdoors and having coffee is your thing then do it. If finances are a cost just go to the cheaper ones and no fripperies such as a pastry and an extra shot of something. Just ask for vouchers for your birthday and make savings elsewhere.

Thank you for this. Being out and about really is part of who I am. I very much love being out amongst other people and being part of the buzz of life. I've noticed that being indoors has quite a detrimental effect on me as far as my mental health goes.

Good point in the coffee shop though. I need to stop with the cake for more than just the money aspect 😂😂 xx

I’d ramp you being outside but actually away from crowds too

I love a cafe
But I adore a beautiful wood
Or an open park
