Do you go out every day?

Just that really. I'm not very good at staying at home. I have a child free weekend every other so me and my partner will always go out and about. Coffee shops, walking, shopping etc. Same when the kids are here really.

Chatting to my neighbour yesterday and she commented on the fact that we never sit still 😂. She's a lovely lady but is very much a home bird. Got me wondering if we are quite unusual and that people do tend to spend a lot of time at home pottering around the house...🤔🤔

@Popsiclestry

I live on a secluded dead end lane and my friend lives near me. She, like me, works from home and she works in a front window.

I must go past her house at least 5 times a day in my car and I always wave at her and I get lots of text saying, "where are you off to now?!"

I just can't stand to be in for longer than a couple of hours. I shop every day for that days food, run errands and have to drop kids off everywhere all the time.

Haha. This is me too! The neighbour keeps telling me to sit still for a while.

Don't, I would kill for a stay at home day - I actually feel quite sad now that it can't be today - Halloween cinema this morning, then shopping for a party tonight, ferrying kids to and from our house for said party and trick or treating. Exhausting. I woud love to just listen to jazz and the rain with a coffee and lounge on the sofa watching halloween movies.

GOODCAT · 31/10/2021 08:04

We go out every day as have horses. Even without that we always go out somewhere too whether for work, a walk, swim, cycling or a drive to a local view with a coffee. Both of us get cabin fever otherwise.

DariaMorgendorffer · 31/10/2021 08:05

I'm in and out like a yo-yo all day every day. Get bored really easily, and am also generally busy anyway with work and driving dc about etc. Would probably save a lot more money if i stayed at home a little more!

Veryverycalmnow · 31/10/2021 08:05

I get twitchy if I haven't left the house. I need to get better at just going for a walk instead of always ending up at a shop or somewhere to spend/ waste money. I really would struggle to stay in all day. I don't unless I'm really unwell.

Yep same. We always end up at the shops and/or coffee shop. Luckily we have a dog and that forces us out for a walk. Should just leave it at that really and spend the rest of the day at home but it never happens x

I never stay at home all day unless I'm ill. I always went out for my walk/exercise during the lockdowns and WFH thankfully only lasted a few weeks for me. Even on work days when I've been out all day I normally go out somewhere in the evening, DH is the same.

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 31/10/2021 08:17

Pre Covid I loved stay at home days. Now I get cabin fever and feel quite panicked if I don’t have anywhere to go or have no plans to see anyone (outside my family). It’s a bit weird because I love time on my own. What I hate is hour upon hour being stuck in the house with everyone else!

MedusasBadHairDay · 31/10/2021 08:18

DH would rather go out every day, I prefer to stay home.

So glad this isn't just us. I'm out of the house in the office most days and my partner is WFH (unless he's out of the country working) but we usually head out somewhere in the evenings when I get in.

No, we are always out and about. We might have a lazy afternoon or a late lie in (no kids yet) but we have a dog to walk twice a day, and generally get cabin fever! Me more so than DH but he will always find a reason to pop to a shop or something at the least.
My parents on the other hand are total homebirds. They will group together activities to be more efficient when they leave the house. They find it mind boggling that sometimes we just pop in the car and drive somewhere for no reason/just to get out. Or go in and out the house multiple times in a day. I think Dad in particular finds it quite stressful when we are staying over/they are staying with us!

Youcancallmeval · 31/10/2021 08:23

I went out last Sunday and then again on Friday. I don't go out if there is no reason to - I don't 'go for a walk' I have to have somewhere to walk to. I don't do coffee shops - it is not a good use of time for me. Walking around the shops would bore me shitless, so don't do that either. Having said that, a bit more fresh air would not be a bad thing, but have no real motivation to do so.

MrsJBaptiste · 31/10/2021 08:27

The idea of a lazy day at home is appealing but by 2pm I'm bored and need to get out. I hate the thought of being in for the day/night by mid-afternoon and so end of going to the shops, gym, pub...

Bagelsandbrie · 31/10/2021 08:31

Can’t stand staying at home. Even if it’s just a long walk I have to get out. I worry about my health if I spend days just sitting around. (I admit I do have health anxiety, I have chronic autoimmune conditions and like to try and stay healthy). My dh would spend all week at home if he could. Confused

So did you stay indoors from the Friday to the Sunday?

My (very sendentary) NDN doesn't understand my need to go out. I remember during fairly heavy snow I remember going out with DD in the pushchair and he saw me and asked what I needed. I said we were going to the shop. Bless him he said what do you need weve probably got something you can have....but actually I just needed to go out!!

When the DC were older (probably 7 and 10) we were going for a walk , one Christmas, to a country pub about 3 miles away. It was a cold but sunny day and the walk was mainly country footpaths. Either DH or I had driven to the pub earlier, left the car there and walked back so the kids only had to do one journey. NDN saw us and asked where we were going. We said we were going on a walk to the pub. He looked quite horrified, and said he would give us a lift. We said we were going on a walk. Then he said he would give the kids a lift. We said they were coming on a walk!😂

MrsLargeEmbodied · 31/10/2021 08:32

no,
i have to leave the house,
no way could i stay at home,
walk the dog in all weathers

trappedsincesundaymorn · 31/10/2021 08:33

I stay in mostly. I live in a village so no cafes, shopping or anywhere interesting. If I lived somewhere a bit more urban I probably would get out more.

Youcancallmeval · 31/10/2021 08:33

Yes, stayed in all week. I had nowhere I needed to go, so I didn't go anywhere.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 31/10/2021 08:33

when my dc were little were never stayed at home all day

Femnisaurus · 31/10/2021 08:34

I have worked outside the home and worked from home (before it became popular). Swings and roundabouts really - one job involved a lot of travel and overnight stays - I did rather enjoy that but loved the feeling of the train arriving back in my sleepy little town.... now I'm retired I walk the dogs daily, so get out in the countryside - but love love love just being able to potter around at home and in the garden. I'm signed up to a number of courses, mainly online, all the things I've wanted to do but never had time to while I was working / had school age children.

I might go into town 2-3 times a month and meet friends for coffee, I miss visiting London (used to commute and lived there for 20yrs) but am very content not to go out much.

What did you do at home? I’d love to be able to happily spend more time at home but after an hour or so of tv / housework etc I’m bored stiff.

😂😂 love this. I love going for walks. We can spend ages with the kids and dog wandering in the woods.

I don't go out every day when I'm off because I work away from the house so I like having time in it. Might be different if I worked from home. However I do like getting outside each day and do some things in the garden. I'm quite happy to potter.

GoodnightGrandma · 31/10/2021 08:41

Right now it is absolutely chucking it down and blowing a gale. I love being home in a warm house with the lamps in right now.
