Flowers Sue Hope the biopsy comes back clear.

DD was off sick again today, had to collect her yesterday, think its just stress causing migraines but she can rest here. She said she is cooking for her brother again tonight and is off to the shop to buy food. She asked DH to buy it and he bought different things and DD was Hmm I will go to the shop too tonight. Fortunately we live next to the shop so its 1 minute walk. DH just said as you are going I bought things for spaghetti bolognese but forgot spaghetti so can you get that too please so she will get that.

I have phoned hospital to get appointments as one for next week has not come through but being sorted and to check I can eat and drink before CT tomorrow, I can. Slept most of day as I did not sleep last night but that is a peri menopause thing.

DH has his covid booster on Friday, I am not eligible yet as last in July.

I am sure my DS would also live on schnitzel if he was German Prok as he loves meat and breadcrumbs. Just no sauce near it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/11/2021 19:38

Silkie Your DS is so right - no sauce near stuff. I can eat it now but when I was young. Just no!

My slight covid sniffle has turned into a what I would call an ordinary cold. No fever, my sense of taste is fine, I do not cough. I just sneeze and sniffle.
DHL have delivered a parcel to a neighbour whose name I do not recognize.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/11/2021 00:36

It doesn't contain a set of razor head does it prok? If so they will be mine (well, DH and DS's actually) Wink

DS has 5 friends round to play poker on Friday night and they will be staying over. I am home from work at 7am so am cooking them all breakfast, DH has drawn the short straw and has to hole up in the bedroom for the evening while they take over the dining room.

mathanxiety · 25/11/2021 02:35

Silkies you may be able to get your booster earlier depending on your diagnosis.

I had to work far longer than I anticipated today, but the brining of the turkey is under way. The brine is currently cooling on the deck. DS will go out for ice around 11pm. The brining bucket fits in the fridge and I have a ten gallon brining bag to put the brine, ice, and turkey into inside the bucket. I'm going to make a pumpkin pie and cinnamon rolls tonight. The rolls rise overnight in the kitchen and will be ready to bake tomorrow morning. I'll make the pecan pie tomorrow morning.

suellerkeller, hope your DH is comfortable.

DD3 gets impacted earwax from time to time. We used to go to the pediatrician to get her ears irrigated but then I bought a kit and do for her it at home. It's a spectacularly gross thing to see up close. DD3 is always amazed how well she hears afterwards.

mathanxiety · 25/11/2021 02:37

sueelleker sorry, I got your name all wrong.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2021 07:39

champagne Sorry only printer cartridges - the reflilled ones.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2021 08:00

Oh and to all those who are celebrating today - a happy and stress free time.
May your turkey thaw in time! Smile

sueelleker · 25/11/2021 08:19

@mathanxiety

sueelleker sorry, I got your name all wrong.
That's ok. We get a lot of weird spellings, but that's a new one! My husband rang me after he had his op, and sounded so upbeat that for a minute I thought he hadn't yet been down to theatre! I'm visiting him today, and he hopes to be home tomorrow.
Nydj · 25/11/2021 09:06

Happy Thanksgiv8ng to those who are celebrating!

@sueelleker, I hope your DH’s biopsy i results are good.

@Silkieschickens, I hope your family got some food to eat last night 😁and that the appointment for your CT scan goes ok today. I too suffer from disrupted sleep for peri menopause and now, for menopause. One thing that helps is taking cetirizine antihistamine before bed. I have read of some menopausal women taking one every day but I just do it when I really need a good night’s sleep. Apparently, histamine in our bodies can keep us alert and awake so the antihistamine reduces that effect. Not sure how accurate that it - perhaps someone more knowledgeable will come along to explain.

Acornsandleaves · 25/11/2021 09:21

I've just caught up on everyone's news, haven't had chance to look at this thread for a few days
sueelleker hope your husband is feeling ok today
Champagne your comment about your dog made me laugh, I'm just imagining them looking disgruntled with their new haircut!

I had a GP phone appointment this morning, I've been feeling really anxious (mostly focused on work but it's starting to affect me more) and I'm having some counselling, but I think I need a bit more help. The lovely GP recommended a low dose of Sertraline, I think I do want to try it but I'm really scared of the side effects.

Acornsandleaves · 25/11/2021 09:30

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating! I'm in the UK, but I'm enjoying hearing about your Thanksgiving meals, and hope you have a lovely day

MissConductUS · 25/11/2021 11:56

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! I am just back from my waslk/run and cooling down a bit before I get in the shower. The holiday mashed potatoes are first on the list of things to make after I shower and get something to eat.

Sue, I hope your DH is resting comfortably. Acorns, it's good to see you're back.

Math, I was busy last night too. I made apple bread and a pie crust for today's apple pie, which I will put in the oven while we eat the main meal.

DD was still feeling rough yesterday from her booster, so is having a lie in. I'm sure she'll feel better today.

I'm thankful to have all of us together today, and I'm thankful for all of the lovely friends I'lve made on MN, wherever they live. Smile

DD is up and fit as a fiddle. She is eating a large plate of toasted challah bread and a piece of apple bread. the Yukon Gold spuds are in the boiling water. The game is on! Grin

I hope somebody thinks about feeding me! Soon!

I have reveived my note: I'll be allowed out on the 1st Dec.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/11/2021 14:23

So went to baby swimming group. Looks like I’m the only one not invited to the Christmas lunch. There is a WhatsApp group that they have decided not to put me on.

Feel a bit sad to be honest. I can’t think what I’ve done.

MissConductUS · 25/11/2021 14:47

Lemons, that's awful. If you're not on the WhatsApp group, how do you know about it? People can just be awful sometimes, don't take it to heart.

Prok, I'd send you some holiday potatoes if I could. Smile

There's a bit of history I like to revisit every Thanksgiving, so I thought I'd share it here. It really speaks to the courage of those early immigrants.

_

Here beginneth the chronicle of those memorable circumstances of the year 1620, as recorded by Nathaniel Morton, keeper of the records of Plymouth Colony, based on the account of William Bradford, sometime governor thereof:

So they left that goodly and pleasant city of Leyden, which had been their resting-place for above eleven years, but they knew that they were pilgrims and strangers here below, and looked not much on these things, but lifted up their eyes to Heaven, their dearest country, where God hath prepared for them a city (Heb. XI, 16), and therein quieted their spirits.

When they came to Delfs-Haven they found the ship and all things ready, and such of their friends as could not come with them followed after them, and sundry came from Amsterdam to see them shipt, and to take their leaves of them. One night was spent with little sleep with the most, but with friendly entertainment and Christian discourse, and other real expressions of true Christian love.

The next day they went on board, and their friends with them, where truly doleful was the sight of that sad and mournful parting, to hear what sighs and sobs and prayers did sound amongst them; what tears did gush from every eye, and pithy speeches pierced each other’s heart, that sundry of the Dutch strangers that stood on the Key as spectators could not refrain from tears. But the tide (which stays for no man) calling them away, that were thus loath to depart, their Reverend Pastor, falling down on his knees, and they all with him, with watery cheeks commended them with the most fervent prayers unto the Lord and His blessing; and then with mutual embraces and many tears they took their leaves one of another, which proved to be the last leave to many of them.

Being now passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles before them in expectations, they had now no friends to welcome them, no inns to entertain or refresh them, no houses, or much less towns, to repair unto to seek for succour; and for the season it was winter, and they that know the winters of the country know them to be sharp and violent, subject to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places, much more to search unknown coasts.

Besides, what could they see but a hideous and desolate wilderness, full of wilde beasts and wilde men? and what multitudes of them there were, they then knew not: for which way soever they turned their eyes (save upward to Heaven) they could have but little solace or content in respect of any outward object; for summer being ended, all things stand in appearance with a weatherbeaten face, and the whole country, full of woods and thickets, represented a wild and savage hew.

If they looked behind them, there was a mighty ocean which they had passed, and was now as a main bar or gulph to separate them from all the civil parts of the world.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating

Thanks Nydj The anti histamine is a good tip, I need to take them anyway for allergies / asthma but have been forgetting recently. We did get our dinner, DD surprised us and cooked all our meals, even the meat despite being veggie, so kind of her.

Acorn, sorry to hear you are anxious, hope you can find something that helps.

Lemon So sorry that happened to you, you seem like such a lovely person and its very mean to exclude one person. You deserve nicer friends.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/11/2021 14:57

@MissConductUS coz I have super sensitive hearing so overheard about it. Then someone started talking about the WhatsApp group saw me and stopped talking. From what I heard the table is booked etc.

Lovely story there 😀

Oh poor you- found baby groups so clicky but toddler groups are so much nicer . I’ve made some nice friends from the toddler group. It’s horrid feeling left out
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2021 15:29

Lemon That is shit!

I can smell cooking - so something is about to happen food-wise.

MissConductUS · 25/11/2021 15:39

Welcome, @Fredstheteds, and thanks for sharing your solace and experience with toddler groups.

DS, aspiring chef that he is, is seasoning the turkey.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/11/2021 15:41

@Silkieschickens that’s a kind thing to say. How is your DD after her migraine? Migraine are horrible my DH suffers from them.

I should add I couldn’t leave one person out at all. Even if I wasn’t keen on them.

To the American contingent on this thread Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

HelenaJustina · 25/11/2021 15:50

Happy Thanksgiving! An American colleague brought in a fruit cake and a pumpkin pie and chocolates to work today, all delicious!

MissConductUS · 25/11/2021 16:13

Helena, DH tells a story about when he was working in London, long before we met. He had apparently been having a moan talking about Thanksgiving, and how he was a bit sad that he was going to miss the holiday. The managing director heard of this and found an American restaurant in the city that was offering a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and took him and his whole project team there for a long, boozy lunch. The new Beaujolais had just arrived apparently. Grin

As you can see, DS has elaborately seasoned the turkey with a mixture of butter, lemon zest and juice, and various fresh herbs. I'll post a picture of the finished product later.
