They look mouth-watering, Prok.
Congratulations!
Hope you're feeling ok.

Silkies it's great that you are being seen to so promptly, and I hope the X-box will help DS to feel connected with his old friends, and maybe some new ones too.

IWandered - there is something about little ones in glasses that melts the heart. A little neighbour of mine got glasses when he was about four. He looked like a cute little owl. I hope your GD has more than one pair. They tend to experience a lot of wear and tear.

Freezing day here, with a clear blue sky. I went out to bring in my grocery haul from the car and heard the unmistakable sound of hundreds of geese aloft - there were two flocks doing a rendezvous high above. It brought back a memory of little DD1 aged about 2 staring up at tens of thousands of geese one freezing afternoon thirty years ago. It was the first time either of us had seen the migration. It gives me chills to think of them making the same long trip for thousands of years, following the line of Lake Michigan and the tributaries of the Mississippi south and on to the Mississippi itself. Do they remember when it was all fields, I wonder...

DS ordered himself a Samsung smartwatch after discovering his hidden stash of Amazon giftcards which he thought was lost and gone forever. I am secretly hoping the watch will tell him to go and get something done about his snoring.

MissC, I'm taking my turkey out of the freezer tonight and parking it in the fridge.

Silkieschickens · 23/11/2021 03:18

MissC Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving. The trust is massively in debt and long delays in most departments, like most hospitals here atm, but cancer treatment is being prioritised and not much different to normal they said. Impressed how quick its being.

Swimming sounds lovely Ginger I need to start exercising again and love swimming but think may need to do something more like aerobics at home. I like aerobics too but need a kick to get started again. My fleece duvet is much more tempting!

Well done on getting chocolate Prok and not any old chocolate either.

Thanks Math have a lovely Thanksgiving. Thanks Nydj

HelenaJustina · 23/11/2021 06:14

They look amazing prok can you taste them okay? And are you rationing yourself in case it’s day before you are allowed any more?!

capitalcapitalcapital · 23/11/2021 07:36

Hope no one minds if I join. I’ve been reading this thread during a long night (currently on day 7 of covid and feeling pretty terrible).

@Silkieschickens I’m sorry for your situation. I hope the new scans bring the best possible news. Flowers

I’m finding this thread extremely soothing - thank you all.

sueelleker · 23/11/2021 07:37

@Silkie; do you eat any of the silkie's eggs? I worked with someone who kept them, and she used to bring the eggs into work for people.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/11/2021 08:18

Helena Luckily my smell and taste work fine, and they were lovely and yes, I have been all grown up about it and there are still some left.
Next time she will make them slightly smaller and perhaps we make one batch with rum.

Nydj · 23/11/2021 08:43

I just remembered that today is the day that @MissConductUS, you get to collect your DD and see her in person - I hope traffic is ok and you have a fabulous time over the next few days with both children at home.

MissConductUS · 23/11/2021 10:47

Welcome, @capitalcapitalcapital, and of course you can join in! The more the merrier. Sorry to hear you're down with covid.

Thanks, @Nydj. I'm just out of the shower and DS and I should be heading out in about an hour. I'm going to take a somewhat longer route that avoids most of the traffic and the weather looks fine.

I'm sure it will feel a bit odd to have both of them home. DD hasn't been here in over 11 months, but it will be lovely!

I finally have the sick note for my employer. My GP surgery handles the corona burocracy for their patients in 8 or 9 different languages so I can see why things take a day or two.
@Nydj - DD's friend has no idea where the name comes from, but will ask his gran in Thailand. Now we all want to know.

Under my window somebody - probably of the local orange hi-viz neon - uses a jackhammer (new word for me). It is 13 pm he ought to take his break.

DoctorTwo · 23/11/2021 12:22

I have managed to get through to my gp and have an appointment for my blood test. It's in over to weeks so I'm glad it's not urgent.

mrsrobin · 23/11/2021 12:32

My dull news is that I said out loud to myself in the mirror - "God, you are ugly!"
Nothing new, I have never thought as me being an oil painting, but I think it was the realisation today. I am getting jowls, look old etc!
So my better news is - tomorrow I am going shopping for some make up bits to make the most of the situation!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/11/2021 12:44

mrsrobin Do not talk like that to yourself! My inner self is 24 but I look like my mother - without her spendid haircolour.

Health authorities called, results were sent to them, took up my contacts, I'll get an e-mail and a case worker will contact me, too

Lol! I suppose getting to look like my mother is the issue...!!

I hope the journey goes well. I love that your son is going with you. DD is also driving home today - she's already packed, and is leaving after lunch so hopefully home around 5.30pm.
Champagneforeveryone · 23/11/2021 14:32

I have clipped DDog1.

I am not a dog groomer Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/11/2021 15:01

Champagne Do you now have to re-gruntle your dog?

DH is making bulgur and vegetables.

MissConductUS · 23/11/2021 15:12

Updating on my phone.

Welcome @mrsrobin and thanks for sharing your news. We are all looking older than we feel.

We have arrived at DD's uni and are waiting outside her dorm. She's getting her things together. It was an easy drive.

@ZZTopGuitarSolo, I hope your daughter has an easy trip home.

Welcome @capitalcapitalcapital hope you’re feeling better.

@MissConductUS bet it’s so lovely having your children home.

@mrsrobin welcome.

Went to collect a Christmas pressie for DH reduced Hugo Boss down from 75-£32.50.

Omg DS just crawled a very short distance.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/11/2021 15:50

Lemon yay! He will soon be faster than you think.

I accidentally made a foto (before smartphones) of DD's first free steps Grin

MissConductUS · 23/11/2021 16:42

As the traffic is light, DS is behind the wheel while I relax and MN a bit. Grin

Lemons, it's a whole new game when they learn to crawl.

HelenaJustina · 23/11/2021 18:27

Jeepers lemon it’s the beginning of the end once they are no longer reliably where you left them! How exciting for you!

IWanderedLonely · 23/11/2021 21:31

MrsRobin
I could have written that.

Been out with my bestest friend for a drink (me tea, her diet coke) and put the world to rights.
Have a stupidly busy day tomorrow, so Miss - early Thanksgiving Day best wishes. Have a lovely time with your family and come away with wonderful memories .

Silkieschickens · 23/11/2021 22:04

Thanks Capital Hope you start to feel better soon.

Sue DS has banned us from eating the silkie's eggs though DH did try a sneaky one, sometimes we give them to our neighbour. Their eggs are quite small though and they love to sit on them and can refuse to move as they think they are making babies and they don't mind whose babies.

Just back from MRI with contrast. DD was really sweet and said I will get my brother and I dinner whilst you are there and she made him a meal as well as her own. Silkiecat was not so selfless and was cross DH went out.

Nydj · 23/11/2021 22:35

I hope you are ok after the MRI @Silkieschickens. Your DD is a real sweetie.

We watched the final
Of the great British bake off - won’t say any more in case anyone is waiting to watch it later.

Silkieschickens · 23/11/2021 22:49

Thanks Nydj I am fine now thanks

That's lovely your DS crawled Lemons though soon you have to start putting everything higher once he finds his feet.
