Thanks Ginger and Math That sounds a lovely meal Math though I also dislike parsnip. DH is the only eater of parsnip in this house, brussels sprouts are surprisingly popular.

DD has access to pastoral care and uses it, and all staff in both schools are being made aware, DD has lots of friends. DS comes under the senco, she desperately wants to help but DS won't talk to anyone and appears not to want to discuss it. I think the best thing is to get him friends. I do not need much support for me, I just want the kids to have it and a plan for if the worst happens all the kids needs will be met, DH is very practical but hopeless with anything emotional but my friend I think will help if that happens and she has 2 SN kids and is the kindest Mum. So now have one of his 3 close friends from his old school where we used to live he can meet up with and getting an x box so they can communicate via that and second old friend should join in too.

Christmas should be fine, we will just be here and have food ordered, will be just us and the pets but I love it that way and want to stay covid free. The only issue maybe my surgery may be around then but we can have a second Christmas meal in that case. Silkiecat will be delighted if two Christmas turkeys are needed.

Please post about your cat etc, that is what this thread is for and its good for me not to think about cancer all the time, I try to spend at least half the day just on completely unrelated things.

DH has made me a cup of tea and drinking it in bed, whilst the birds sing outside.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 07:20

Silkie I have eaten bugs - roasted larvae (spicey and crunchy) and my local supermarket sells insectburgers imported from NL because they already have the proper food regulations and supervision in place.

maths That list of food sounds impressive and very tasty. Brussel sprouts need a chili sauce (for me).

DD made chocolate confect yesterday, but still no chocolate for me. They are determined to keep me on a healthy diet.

sueelleker · 22/11/2021 08:37

@Lemonsandlemonade; We're having similar problems. My husband has been passing blood for months now; they first treated for an infection, then checked for bladder stones. None there, so he had a CT scan which showed some thickening of the bladder wall. Query cancer, so he had an appointment on Saturday for a cystoscopy. They took one look at the urine sample (dark red) and took him straight in for tranfusions of packed red cells. They hope to do a washout and possible operate later this week. They think the thickening may simply be blood clots, but they can't tell until they get a good look. Fingers crossed, and best wishes to your husband too.

Nydj · 22/11/2021 08:51

The lack of chocolate for you is very concerning Prok . Perhaps ask your son?
DH brought my tea up to bed a little late today so I am not sure I will be able to drink it before going to yoga - I’m not complaining just saying 😉. After yoga I am heading into central London to meet a friend for lunch - we are meeting in central London as she is staying at the other end of London. DS is also going into central London to meet ex-colleague for a drink. DH will have the house to himself while working wfh for most of the day.

I have never deliberately eaten a bug but I have eaten berries straight from the plant without washing them so I am sure I have eaten some wiggly things by doing that.

DH and I like parsnips although I suspect I am the one who really likes them and he just finds them ok - we both like brussel sprouts but DH really loves them and can eat them plain boiled. Mine have to be sautéed (preferably in butter!) and cooked through with lots of salt, pepper and a touch of lime juice.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 09:03

Nydj DS is at school and one of his AS traits is a disgustingly strict keeping to the rules.
It is my short sightedness really - I wanted to loose a few kilos and had DH lock the sweets in a cubboard. DH has the keys.

I get carrots, clementines, peppers ...

Champagneforeveryone · 22/11/2021 09:07

It is extremely cold here this morning, my car was iced up when I got back to it.

DS dropped me off on his way to college as we went out for a drink yesterday and left the car at the pub. It was rather like taking a rollercoaster before breakfast but we did arrive in one piece Wink

I'm currently sat in my GP surgery waiting for a smear test. I've no idea when my life became such a torrent of excitement and intrigue Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 09:16

DD just brought me one (1) of the chocolate pralinées she made yesterday to try.
My cries for 'more' have been ignored.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 22/11/2021 11:35

Woke at 545 and have been filling the time by deregistering devices from our Kindle account. We had over 30 registered and most hadn’t been used in years.

Silkieschickens · 22/11/2021 11:37

Hospital just rang, mri tomorrow evening so the fun starts early this week but great it is so fast. DSs 2nd best friend at old schools Mum made contact today.

Very sorry to hear that Sue hope it turns out to be innocent.

Good luck getting chocolate Prok. Going to sleep now as awake all last night, just watching trash TV but feeling tired now.

Silkieschickens · 22/11/2021 11:48

And now ct on Thursday as well. Impressive speed.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 12:07

Silkie Good that things start moving!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 22/11/2021 14:47

I'm sorry you're in such a scary situation Silkie, but glad they are moving quickly with diagnosis and treatment. More gentle hugs.

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/11/2021 18:12

Glad things are moving quickly @Silkieschickens

Had training today on ASD. Actually very informative and has made reflect on what we do.

Very tired due to DS waking and DH snoring like a pig.

Silkieschickens · 22/11/2021 18:14

Thanks ZZ and Prok and I now have added a hospital doctors appointment next Friday. I think I may relocate to hospital but good it is moving fast.

DD wanted a Thai so having that tonight. DH has an hour long piano lesson by the restaurant and will pick it up. Silkiecat has been furious with DH all day as he kept lying in bed upstairs and was not on duty. DH cleaned out the chickens and finally removed the 41 eggs the white one was trying to hatch as she finally moved, they are both girls but desperate for baby silkies. I wish they could have some but they are non stop broody so it would never end.

Silkieschickens · 22/11/2021 18:16

Thanks Lemon Hope you can catch up on sleep. I hoped to catch up today but keep get hospital phone, which is good.

MissConductUS · 22/11/2021 18:41

Silkie, that's great news that they've booked radiology for you so quickly. Your trust must be in pretty good shape.

Lemons, has your DH been evaluated for sleep apnea? If that's what's causing his snoring it really needs to be looked at.

DS is home alone. Normally Monday would be pizza night, but we're holding that off until tomorrow when DD is home, so we need a new plan for tonight.

I moved the frozen turkey breast to the small fridge in the garage last night. Let's hope it's defrosted by Thursday morning. Plan B is that I take out the 16-quart pot I steam lobsters in and put it in there with warm water.

Ok. So after swimming rather a lot this Summer I took the plunge (bad pun I know) and have joined a local Masters club.
Have got really into it and have even bought a pull buoy and float. (Fins hopefully for Christmas).
Training twice a week with the club plus another session solo.
Always feel better for it although I am trying to motivate myself to go this evening as it is very very cold.

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/11/2021 19:14

@MissConductUS I don’t think it’s sleep apnea he needs to loose a few pounds though. As do I!

@Gingerwarthog wow I’d love to get back into swimming. The only exercise I enjoy.

Had a very boring tea of chicken thighs potatoes and sweet corn. 🙈 just can’t be bothered!

MissConductUS · 22/11/2021 19:32

Lemons, being overweight is the biggest risk factor for sleep apnea. Excess fat can compress the airway.

On our Zoom call last night DD asked DS if she could have his car. She is away at uni without one. He said no. DH reminded them that it is still his car, just on loan to DS. I knew this was going to come up at some point. When DS graduates next spring and starts collecting a paycheck he can get a car loan and buy a car, then give DH's old banger to DD. Except that there's an acute shortage of new cars thanks to the semiconductor shortage. So we shall see.

Lemons! Just do it! Google clubs in your area and decent swimming pools.
I was so nervous about it but there are all shapes, sizes and ages ( from 18 up) and if you join a club they help you with your technique. I swam when I was a teenager but running had taken over.

HelenaJustina · 22/11/2021 20:26

I’ve survived a busy day. Lots of new Covid cases at school and DH is away with work tonight. He used to do a minimum of one night away every week (and this is the job he has with travelled least) but hasn’t been away since the start of the pandemic. He was giddy with excitement and we’ve fallen straight back into managing without him. Tomorrow morning will be interesting though as I need to get myself and 4DC out of the house by 7.15am to get 1&2 to the bus, 3&4 will have to go to breakfast club.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 20:36

IWanderedLonely · 22/11/2021 21:02

My granddaughter aged 3 has just been fitted with glasses. I wish I could post a photo she looks sooooo sweet.

Nydj · 22/11/2021 22:47

Well done on getting your chocolates Prok

Silkies , I’m really glad the medical team are doing all they can to work out exactly what it is and how to best treat it. I hope you will be able to sleep better now.
I had crispy tamarind eggs with my lunch today and am pleased to report that they are really lovely. I tried googling them afterwards and I think they are commonly known as son in law eggs in Thailand.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2021 23:17

Nydj That sounds interesting, I'll have DD ask her friend, who happens do be Thai if they know why. Perhaps there is a story attached...

Word of the day: Muhme - that's what I am to my niece, who knew Grin
