Ds2 who's profoundly deaf and autistic just rang me via type talk to say he had chest pains and felt clammy. He's rang an ambulance and support staff are on their way... He keeps apologising to me for waking me up. His temperature is 34.4. Hope the support staff and ambulance arrive soon. I'm very scared and so is he.

Oh no, I hope he is okay. Are you far away? Can you get to see him soon?

Hope his support staff get there soon.

GoldenOmber · 30/10/2021 06:29

I’m sorry, what a worrying time. Good that he’s phoned an ambulance. There’s loads of non-scary things that can cause chest pains, and odds are he’ll be fine once they’ve checked him out, but I appreciate that doesn’t help much right now Flowers

999 Ambulance: We Are Currently Experiencing A High Volume Of Calls. Although A Response Has Been Identified For You, A Clinician May Contact You In The Meantime To Discuss Your Symptoms Further And Ensure You Receive The Right Medical Care. If The Patients Condition Worsens, Or You No Longer Require An Ambulance, Please Call Us Back On 999. He's just had this message!

That must be so frightening Elder. Thanks

Hopefully support will be with him really soon. Can you call 999 and reiterate the need and circumstances?

Elderflower14 · 30/10/2021 06:38

I'm hoping his support worker will do when he arrives.
I'm two hours away from him.

Focus on yourself for a bit - have some breakfast and tea for a start if you haven't already. It might be a long day ahead.

Elderflower14 · 30/10/2021 07:15

I've had a cup of tea... Couldn't eat anything... I am meant to be going shopping with my neighbour. That's on hold for now.

sandgrown · 30/10/2021 07:16

Hope your son is ok . I agree you should get breakfast in case you need to travel though it could be some hours before you hear anything if the hospital is busy . Fingers crossed it’s good news x

TeeBee · 30/10/2021 07:21

Oh lord, how scary. I'd just leave and go now. You could be there to support him in no time.

Elderflower14 · 30/10/2021 07:22

ECG being done now...

Elderflower14 · 30/10/2021 07:23

His support worker said when he knows more he will let me know whether to go or not.

Does he suffer from any gastric issues? I sometimes experience the same, although touch wood I haven't had a proper episode for a few years. I suffer from gastritis and if I eat something that irritates my stomach I get the chest pain, which builds until I feel like I can't breath, I go really hot and clammy and the end result used to be me passing out. Since I've been on medication it tends to last longer and instead of passing out I usually throw up. I was taken to hospital in an ambulance once very early on before I really knew what was happening as the pain was in my chest and the people I was with thought it must be a heart problem.

rainbowstardrops · 30/10/2021 07:37

Oh how very scary for you both! How old is he OP?
I do hope all will turn out well and he feels better soon Thanks

YetAnotherWalk · 30/10/2021 07:41

Oh @Elderflower14 how scary. Hope he's OK. Deep breaths x

Bouledeneige · 30/10/2021 07:44

Sooty to hear this OP. It must be very worrying for you. I guess with Covid restrictions even if you went to hospital they might not let you in so for the time being staying put is all you can do. If the hospital applying those to your son or do they make exceptions?

I too felt like I was having a heart attack when I had gall stones so that could be a common cause.

loudbatperson · 30/10/2021 07:49

I hope you hear soon, it's horrid not being with them when something like this happens.

It might not be the same for your DS however when I have a gallbladder attack I feel the pain in my chest, very severely. I also get clammy and shake. Just want to give you an example that it's not always the heart.

JustMoved123 · 30/10/2021 07:49

I have just been through the exact same thing with my daughter, she was taken to hospital, she has COVID but no blood clots or heart attack. She was sent home last night.

I hope your son is ok, I know exactly how you’re feeling.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/10/2021 08:04
