I have depression and I'm still in bed. Trying to get myself moving. We don't have to talk about me and my mental health. We could talk about anything. I'm just really struggling and there's no one I feel able to message or call right now. Thanks 🙂

@Notgettingbetter

Some of the plants in the garden went absolutely crazy after all the rain and then lots of sunshine back in the spring. A patch of lemon balm completely overwhelmed a little lavender plant next to it. I've done lots of work to get things in order and the lavender is still alive but it's not looking good.

Next goal: brush my hair. I've just noticed that I really need to dye my roots - they've never been left this long before! I'm going very grey too! Maybe I'll do that tonight.

The lemon balm will die back and not reappear until late-ish spring, there will be loads of opportunity to free the lavender clump from the dead lemon balm stalks Grin

I'm currently watching cheesy christmas films on my5. I had an emotional tuesday, was completely wrung out and a zombie on weds and still recovering today.

I'm doing basic work tasks today and I find Christmas films in the background help.

Please be kind to yourself. Little steps.

Oh God Christmas films sounds like bliss. I feel like an early night tonight watching Elf. 'You smell like beef and cheese!'

Well done.

I hope you make it outside in the sunshine for a bit.

@BlackeyedSusan Thank you for the fridge advice. Mine's an ancient Samsung.

Well done OP! Baby steps...

What's your next goal - eat a bit of food maybe? Or something to feel good - squirt of your favourite perfume or some nice lip balm?

Look after yourself. You are totally worth it.

Do you enjoy crafty /creative things? I find knitting really good therapy - medative even. Just helps me forget the world sometimes. I also wrote (albeit terrible) poetry which helps me express feelings I don't feel able to sit to others.

I just had some pasta 👍

I'm usually very creative but I've not done much lately. Difficult with my four year old - she doesn't really sit still long enough to do creative stuff with me and she pesters me if I try to do my own. Even when I do get the chance I've not been able to enjoy it anyway.

It’s pouring here , but I put my wellies and raincoat on and went to check my lavender , it looks dreadful , but still smells nice !

I took some cuttings in the spring , and have 5 baby lavender plants as well as the old one - it was surprisingly easy I’m not a gardening guru

If you have some still going in the garden why not cut a couple of sprigs and put them on the bedside table ? It’s a lovely calming smell and meant to help you sleep 💤

Well done OP.

Another one with a cold here. Am WFH so don't have to go anywhere but even that feels like too much effort. I just want to stay curled up on the sofa with a trashy film. I should have popped out to get DH a birthday card but I couldn't move. It's not until next week so I've got time!

Sunshine here 🌞

Wow, op, you're doing better than me!
Am also still in bed and working my way up to the first of my small goals for the day.

Sounds like you are getting better by the way!

I'm planning to try and get some essential paperwork done once I've made it through the shower and reward myself by reading a book later.

OP can you see any trees from your house? I've been out to the park today with my 4yo and 2yo throwing leaves around, all different colours. I love the crispy sound they make.

Well done for getting up!

I hope you’re feeling better. Even on your hardest days make sure you’re kind to yourself.

I don’t know if you’re into this but I really enjoy making homemade potpourri. I got the idea from Pinterest.

Dried Orange slices , dried apple, cinnamon sticks. You can put in some water and slowly simmer and it will make the whole house smell lovely. Then you can use the water to add to tea or to add flavour to gelatin to make a jam or jelly. It’s a nice autumn activity.

Yay OP

Just keep plugging along, if you just keep at it, one day it wont be quite as hard and then a while later you might notice that the odd thing sparks a teeny bit of joy in you and so on and so on. The way to crawl out of a hole is to just take tiny step after tiny step. If you sit in the hole, you will just stay sitting in the hole.

Sending a hug

@Notgettingbetter Reading this thread and seeing you updates has helped me today so thank you. My mental health hasn't been great lately and I am not sleeping without the help of over the counter sleeping tablets which I know I shouldn't take every night but without them I sleep for about 2 hours before waking up. Reading all the loveliness of strangers reaching out has really helped today.

I hope the shopping goes well!
