I have depression and I'm still in bed. Trying to get myself moving. We don't have to talk about me and my mental health. We could talk about anything. I'm just really struggling and there's no one I feel able to message or call right now. Thanks 🙂

We have an asda build your own pizza in the fridge that I was going to cook last night... might bung that in the oven for lunch. Its cold and wet here, no doubt the dc will be in soon covered in mud and looking for food.

Other than pushing the hoover around I have no plans. Probably have a bath and change into another snuggly dressing gown Grin

Torrential rain finally stopped here. Gardener's World suggested trimming back lavender by an eighth each year to stop it getting straggly, after the flowers have finished and been cut back. It's such a lovely plant - love to see it humming with Bees.

I'm in the dressing gown of doom on the sofa watching My Little Pony with DD. I've got the half term blues (teacher) back ache playing up, feeling a bit meh from the flu jab yesterday, etc. I have a massive pile of marking to do, laundry to finish, the dishwasher to empty, and loads of little cleaning and tidying jobs. But if they don't get done the world won't end.

Can your partner do the shopping if you write the list together? You could do that from bed. Then it's one productive thing you've done.

@Notgettingbetter

Wow - I didn't expect so many posts! I can't keep up. Thank you each and every one of you ❤️

I got out of bed and made it so I'm less tempted to get back in. And I brushed my teeth!

Sometimes, as I walk into our bedroom I am convinced my bed talks to me - saying 'get back in. I'm so warm and cosy, and so much cheaper than putting the heating on/up' It's really hard resisting the siren call. I hate putting cold clothes on, so drape them over the radiator for a bit. A lovely coffee helps too.

Ah x post, well done on getting out of bed! Onwards and upwards.

Some of the plants in the garden went absolutely crazy after all the rain and then lots of sunshine back in the spring. A patch of lemon balm completely overwhelmed a little lavender plant next to it. I've done lots of work to get things in order and the lavender is still alive but it's not looking good.

Next goal: brush my hair. I've just noticed that I really need to dye my roots - they've never been left this long before! I'm going very grey too! Maybe I'll do that tonight.

When I'm feeling at my lowest I always put friends on TV, even just having it on in the background helps raise my mood..

hi lovely.
sorry you are struggling

here we have 9 people in the house and DS3 is having a party tonight and going to a birthday party tomorrow, that all ballooned into 12 extra teenagers sleeping over for 2 nights!🤣

And DS2's mate is having his passing parade tomorrow (cadet thing) but can't go home after that because his mum's got Covid so will be staying with us from Friday. I don't even know for how long. 😳

I don't mind. We are used to this sort of thing, I thrive on chaos and doing stuff that I know I can cope with spontaneously.
Plus I like it that my kids & their friends know they can confidently ask for help and to let them have fun. it's nice.

Great idea - I know I'm more likely to get back under the duvet if there's a 'me' sized space there... so how are you going to treat yourself for that flurry of positive activity? If you do manage to go shopping make sure there's something nice for you on the list to reward yourself for doing it!

I really must make it out to the shops - if only to buy deodorant - I've run out!

Can anyone tell me how to reply to specific posts/posters? I really can't work it out!

I've brushed my hair now 👍

Stuff the shopping! Do an online order and go for a walk in the countryside together of possible! Hug a tree and feel some autumn sin on your face Grin

Sorry, I know that might be the last thing you feel like doing. I really sympathise op as I felt like you at the beginning of last month. It was really strange as I hadn't had serious depression before. I didn't feel sad, but it affected me physically, I had no energy and felt as though I couldn't move. What helped me was (a) telling a friend and (b) going to the doctor and discussing a plan with her (not ADs but other stuff like diet and exercise).

To give you hope, it went away as quickly as it arrived, just out of the blue, when I was beginning to panic that I would never come out of it. Hang in there op and have a look at "Therapy in a Nutshell" on You Tube. She has some good science based advice.

Unfortunately I can't think of a reward for myself. Possibly the worst thing about my current depression is anhedonia. I haven't been able to enjoy anything for about six months now 😞

@Notgettingbetter I had a lovely cup of tea this morning. I made it quite slowly rather than rushing like I usually do! It was nice sipping it and browsing the Internet looking for a new book on Amazon. Treat yourself Smile

@Notgettingbetter

You can reply to someone s pecifically by tagging them.

Just press the @ sign and a list will drop down with all the usernames that have posted. Pick the one you need (or you can pick several)

This makes it clear which comment you are responding to.

Some posters have their notifications set to alert them when they have been @-ed, but some don't.

Glad you are up and about now. Hope you can manage to enjoy the rest of your day.

Btw op, if you like plants op, I bought some thyme at the weekend and it has such a lovely fragrance. It's lemon thyme I think and it's sitting in a pot on the terrace. I put a couple of sprigs in soup I cooked yesterday and you can taste it in the background; lovely ... .

A while ago, I put three dishes of cat food down in the kitchen, the cats were waiting for their food, but all three of them looked at, and sniffed the food, and immediately all three of them shot off through the cat flap, and went in the garden.

Hello OP & all, lemon balm is a lovely plant but it can take over! Just keep chopping it back, it'll cope. Incidentally, you can make a tea from the leaves which is said to alleviate depression. I haven't tried that but I do sometimes make a stronger version of tea (simmer the leaves for ages in a pan of water) which is great for insomnia.

My plans for today are: have a shower, blow-dry hair, put bins out. Hurrah for little goals Smile

I planted lavender and rosemary a few years ago. Then I completely neglected them because I'm crap at gardening, and loads of weeds overwhelmed them. I thought they'd died (all the other plants did) but they suddenly emerged strong from the weeds this year! I feel like I have to keep weeding around them now, they have guilted me into it Grin
