Weekday meals tend to be accompanied by a mix of frozen peas, sweetcorn, and broad beans, here.

PompomDahlia · 26/10/2021 22:31

Have you discovered frozen mash yet? Sounds wrong but it’s so good. Sausage, mash, onion gravy and frozen green veg is delicious as a winter dinner

I’m a big fan of frozen spinach. Especially good with fish pie.

girlmama86 · 26/10/2021 22:34

Frozen cauliflower cheese is the one! No more faffing about making a cheese sauce just bung it in a dish in the oven!

MilkRunningOutAgain · 26/10/2021 22:34

We seem to have frozen peas and sweetcorn all the time, I also like the bags of Mediterranean veggies you can roast with chicken or fish. Good for mid eek

Thank you this is exactly the sort of thing I need! How do you cook it? Does it not go soggy?

I bought the Asda one the other day but not yet tried it. Where do you get yours?

Can I ask where you get the medditaranean veg? I tried the Asda one and it wasn't nice, just soggy

I too would recommend frozen spinach. I put it in anything which has a sauce, you don’t need to cook it separately just pop it into the sauce. I put it into pasta tomato sauces, fish pies, chicken casseroles.
I also put it into ready meals like Charlie Binghams chicken curry.

FreddieStandensBFF · 26/10/2021 22:44

Frozen spinach in cream. Brilliant to add to pasta or curry or just on the side of a quiche.

sofakingcool · 26/10/2021 22:46

Frozen spinach is great in curry

rjacksmiss · 26/10/2021 22:46

Tesco are doing this butternut squash sliced with red onions topped with a herb crumb and you roast it in the tray. I've been toppling it with some feta! Lovely with some microwaved broccoli!

tinkerbellvspredator · 26/10/2021 22:47

Not sure where we got our Mediterranean veg when we had it but I think the trick is you need ot fry it or roast it, not microwave. I really liked it but the kids wouldn't eat it so ...

BarbaraofSeville · 26/10/2021 22:48

As well as frozen spinach, which is great, we also use frozen fine green beans in Thai curries.

Not quite veg, but frozen prepared garlic and ginger are extremely useful and much cheaper than fresh.

BertieBotts · 26/10/2021 22:49

The birds eye steam fresh pouches are the best when it comes to frozen veg. They don't do them in the country I moved to and I miss them so much! I am much too lazy and need easy veg. I even like veg I just can't be bothered to cook it.

User2638483 · 26/10/2021 22:49

Frozen spinach, peas and sweetcorn j like
I can’t get on with frozen sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower or carrots. They taste different and have a kind of watery texture to me. I wish it wasn’t so

BarbaraofSeville · 26/10/2021 22:50

Frozen spinach is also good in a pilaf, dhal or making any of the 'saags' ie spiced spinach with paneer, potato or cauliflower.

Excellent tip and good way of boosting those greens!

Frozen sprouts are brilliant if you cook them in the air fryer.

Just reminded me - i have some frozen cabbage I bought ages ago and I can't bring myself to try it as I'm convinced it'll be a soggy mess. Any tips or ideas what to do with it?!

And frozen corn on the cob are excellent when cooked in the air fryer, they come out tasting as if they've been barbecued.
