Please! Recommend me a non-stick frying pan that isn't Tefal

Noticed that my fairly new Tefal frying pan has little spots peeling off the coating. I only use plastic utensils on it, wash by hand with a soft sponge (not scourer), I don't know how this is happening but I'm fed up with it. They never seem to last that long.

I'm a bit bewildered by all the ceramic etc options. Don't want to spend a fortune as I just want a normal frying pan! Can anyone help? thanks

This thread is a bit old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our best frying pan guide with plenty of high-quality, non-stick options recommended by Mumsnetters, including ceramic pans. We hope you find it useful.

Scoville neverstick are very good. Really high quality and not that expensive considering they won't need replacing for years

linerforlife · 25/10/2021 18:17

Green pan!! Healthy and non stick! Amazing!!!

frogsbreath · 25/10/2021 18:21

I use scoville after a similarly disappointing tefal purchase Angry

Ooh thanks. Tempted to chuck money at it as I'm sick of looking up pans. I'm still on the lookout for the perfect chef's pan (wok type thing with lid) or whatever you call it. I had the best size/shape one from House of Fraser but that's given up the goose.
If the frying pan is good I'll invest in a big one!

Scoville.
Asda currently have them on sale at discount

MakkaPakkas · 25/10/2021 18:39

Ninja foodie.
They've survived being cooked in by DS and DH who both wreck pans

ratspeaker · 25/10/2021 18:39

I can also recommend Scoville baking trays and pizza tray.

Look online at George at Asda

Bagelsandbrie · 25/10/2021 18:41

Scoville stuff is amazing. I’m slowly replacing all our pans and trays with their stuff. Amazing quality and dishwasher safe.

Shumoo · 25/10/2021 18:47

I've got a ceramic pan. Have been slowly trying to change all my cookware over to healthier alternatives so all oven stuff is pyrex, boiling etc pans are stainless steel and frying now ceramic. I love it - everything just slides off and super easy to clean.

Athenajm80 · 25/10/2021 18:49

I won a Prestige Eco pan set. They're recyclable, plant based and non stick. Plus they're a muted green colour so a bit different to usual pans. They're amazing, I don't need to use any oil. Oh they do a wok with a lid too. The other bonus is that they're dishwasher friendly which was great till my dishwasher died!

FictionalCharacter · 25/10/2021 19:13

Asda have the Scoville pans on sale for £35 for 5 pans! That’s incredibly cheap, are they really that good? I used some in a holiday cottage that looked similar and didn’t like them - everything stuck to the “non-stick” surface which was weirdly rough.

PickAChew · 25/10/2021 19:24

I have one of the heavier tefal pans that I use just for eggs and it's been brilliant. No peeling. I wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't been heavily reduced, though, as I've also had crap ones.

I hate my neverstick pan. Stuff just doesn't cook nicely in it and it does bloody stick.

All the ceramic pans I've tried have been shit and have ended up chucked away with stuff welded to them after a few months use.

I've had a few circulon pans that have been brilliant for years but then quickly deteriorated.

I have some of the steel based markses pans which are great. They get evenly hot, really quickly and come clean, every time, even with egg and starchy foods.

DampSquidGames · 25/10/2021 19:26

Sainsburys, best frying pan I’ve ever had.

WithMyEncyclopedia · 25/10/2021 19:30

Hmm well I've just ordered one from Asda so we'll see.
Will bear the M&S ones in mind, PickAChew!
Ninja Foodi ones also look good.
And I've had this chef pan for about 10 years, now. Gets used about 2-3 times a week and is good for the rare times I want to deep fry. circulon.uk.com/products/excellence-28cm-non-stick-chef-pan?gclid=CjwKCAjwq9mLBhB2EiwAuYdMtXCK255rbTIAg86TtmtZoauWkjezNwmO5keTzD9sEefTobDUIJFn3xoC4zAQAvD_BwE&gclid=CjwKCAjwq9mLBhB2EiwAuYdMtXCK255rbTIAg86TtmtZoauWkjezNwmO5keTzD9sEefTobDUIJFn3xoC4zAQAvD_BwE
Oh blimey that looks like it's what I'm after... but £115!

Scoville...I've got their baking trays too. They're brilliant

WithMyEncyclopedia · 25/10/2021 19:32

My griddle pan was a circulon but I cooked a honey marinade chicken thing in it one too many times and it's totally ruined now. Possibly the DH scrubbed it too.

OP posts:
Stickytreacle · 25/10/2021 19:33

Circulon are by far the best pans I've bought.

AntiHop · 25/10/2021 19:34

We have a green pan. We've had it for years and use it most nights.

ivegotamillionkids · 25/10/2021 19:37

Totally agree with Scoville, they're brill. Loads of selection in Dunelm and not too pricey!

stillonthattightrope · 25/10/2021 19:38

Another vote here for Scoville, I absolutely love ours.

Gladioli23 · 25/10/2021 19:38

I've got on pretty well with the IKEA ones with the metal handle: have had both for 5/6 years and they are only just starting to get less non stick.

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/ikea-365-frying-pan-stainless-steel-non-stick-coating-50484241/

Heavy base as well, which I'm absolutely insistent on in a frying pan, and dishwasher safe. Probably get used 4-5 days a week?

LoveFall · 25/10/2021 19:50

We have a few of the Jamie Oliver tefal hard anodized pans and they seem indestructible. One is deep sided with a glass lid and it has been used often daily for well over ten years.

They clean very easily, are induction friendly, and have good non-stick. If yours was the same line, OP I am surprised but maybe they are not as good now.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 25/10/2021 19:56

Another vote for scoville. I've recently bought a a neverstick and an ultra lift and both are great.
My tefal is rubbish in comparison.
