What are you doing today?

One of the DC has a cold, headache, loss of taste etc so we are awaiting the results of a PCR test just to be safe. Pottering around the house feeling a bit bored. I hadn't really planned much anyway for this half term but I'm generally feeling as though I haven't got my mum holiday planning mojo back ever since Covid. Lots of friends going on holiday, short breaks, day trips. I haven't really planned anything for this half term. Although just as well I suppose given what we're doing today!

So we will be spending the morning playing board games - I've got an escape room game to finish that ended in doors being slammed last time. So that could go well.

So anyway, enough of my misery, what are you all planning to do today?

@Shumoo I feel your pain - some of our board games end like that! My teen dd is still in bed and I find it much harder to plan things to do with her at this age. I think she will be wanting to go out to meet friends when she surfaces. I’m working my way through the house, digging out books, games & crafting things that’s she’s grown out of. I will take them to the charity shop too. I feel I should tackle the garden, whilst the weather is so mild & sunny but not sure if I have the energy or will to do both today!

ThatCampWitch · 25/10/2021 10:09

I’m having my 20 week scan!

GoodnightGrandma · 25/10/2021 10:10

Food shop, clean, walk the dogs, cook the tea, then sit around waiting for bed time.

mammajustkilledagnat · 25/10/2021 10:10

In hospital with husband for his endoscopy appointment. He's starving poor lamb.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 25/10/2021 10:13

Good luck with your scan Thatcamp
Dh is off and taking dc out for an hour or two. I woke with bad aches and shivers but I have dosed up. Might take a hot bath. Shave my legs. Put on taann to see if I feel better.

I wanted to sort my wardrobes and drawers but I don't know if it will happen today.

My partner has the day off and it's my usual day off so we are taking our 1 year old to a museum of the past, really it's for my partners entertaiment Grin. Just waiting in the car park for DD to wake up, enjoying a McDonald's coffee.

purpledagger · 25/10/2021 10:18

I'm working from home and the children are entertaining themselves. Don't have any plans for this week though.

NFLBingo · 25/10/2021 10:20

@ThatCampWitch - I hope your scan goes well!
DD2 is getting over tonsillitis and slept until half 9 and DD1 is full of beans, so we’ll likely go and walk to pick up DD1s antibiotics from the hospital pharmacy the have a quiet day.

In between that I’ll be adding coats of paint to my bathroom walls, it’s going from dark green that the decorator messed up, to a lovely blue/grey, but the white emulsion base coats don’t seem to be taking that well. I’m on coat 3 with 12 hours between coats and it’s super patchy and the cutting in of the corners has been awful and won’t stick!
Any tips are welcome as I am losing the will to live!

TrickOrTreat21x · 25/10/2021 10:20

Having a lazy day as we're off to the science museums tomorrow. Haven't even got out of bed yet. Grin

Orangedaisy · 25/10/2021 10:27

Dd2’s first school play date here. So I will be trying to stop Dd1 getting in the way whilst hopefully helping the little ones have fun.

Weedsorwishes · 25/10/2021 10:47

We are having the big winter changeover today, getting winter duvets out the loft and switching the beds over to winter. Also hoping to plant soem.spring bulbs in the garden it's a half term tradition. I'm debating cleaning the bathroom followed by a bath while husband does the beds 🤣

LindaEllen · 25/10/2021 11:16

I have a week off this week, so I plan to blitz the house today. I need to do some clearing in the garden for a summer house we're having built, and I have a meeting for my hobby tonight. My theory is if I work my bum off today the rest of my week off will be full of baths and binge watching!

over2021 · 25/10/2021 11:47

We're meeting up with a friend of DD's to go on pumpkin trail wtf is a pumpkin trail!?

This morning I've stripped the beds, remembered to get mince out of the freezer and washed my hair so feeling pretty smug whilst sitting on mumsnet with a packet of dog rolls when I should really be drying my hair...

Shumoo · 25/10/2021 13:15

I like the idea of a winter changeover. That sounds like a good use of our time today.

I will also wash my hair.

I will not be painting although there are lots of rooms that need it, so I am very impressed.

Good luck for the playdate @Orangedaisy. I hope it goes well.
Good luck for the scan @ThatCampWitch

It's reassuring that many of you are having low key weeks too. I'm feeling slightly less FOMO...

Going to walk later for a bit. This morning I finished reading my book then now eating lunch. I am supposed to be researching care homes and schools but I decided to nap instead.

TheShades · 25/10/2021 13:32

Hope DC feels better v soon and it isn't Covid, OP.

DH booked the day off and I just work mornings, annoyingly I had a couple of issues crop up so despite finishing a bit late I've still had to leave them unresolved as we'd promised DC a trip to an aquarium this afternoon. We've just set off in the car and DC are very excitedly talking about what we might see.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 25/10/2021 13:32

Nothing this morning I was just pottering around washing. DH is at work, I’ve watched some tv with DC1 and we all had a McDonald’s lunch. Now we’re getting ready. I need to wash and sort my hair before packing our bags as heading off to my parents. I have a hospital tomorrow, DH unfortunately can’t get time off again (DC2 has hospital Friday) so my parents have kindly stepped in and are also cooking us dinner tonight.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 25/10/2021 13:34

Hospital procedure*

Silkieschickens · 25/10/2021 13:38

I am recently out of hospital with covid / long covid so still recovering in bed though at least can keep food and drink down now. DH wfh. Dd is out socialising third day in a row, y11 mocks for her start on Monday. Ds is snuggling on sofa with his indoor rabbit being lazy boys together.

HerRoyalWitchyness · 25/10/2021 13:38

So far I've showered, played outside with the DC, taken a phonencall regarding my MH, cleaned my kitchen, cleaned the downstairs bathroom and done 3 loads of washing.
Still have to fully change the cat litter, dust the living room and make sure the kids don't kill each other.

Doublechins · 25/10/2021 13:42

I feel rotten after having my booster so we aren't doing much. DC are playing toys/Xbox/switch and one is playing in the garden with a friend. We've just watched toy story 2 and now I've said we can make a cake but I'm regretting that

bloodywhitecat · 25/10/2021 13:52

I have taken my fosterlings to see their respective families for family time, been delayed getting home, walked the dog, done some housework, chatted to one of the social workers involved with one of my fosterlings when they came home, fed the baby and am now just having five minutes with a cuppa before making dinner.

Don’t ever start painting, it’s a ballache. 😂
Hm2020 · 25/10/2021 14:25

Waiting for a Sainsbury’s delivery and then going gp the fun packed half term with museums, swimming etc... booked is not happening as looking like ds has a bad chest infection. Sad
