DD has had a negative PCR test! So we are now a covid free household. To celebrate we've been baking.
Victoria sponge, banana bread and brownies!
It's been very messy but lots of giggles and laughter Smile

DD (7) and DS2 (6) are waiting impatiently for everything to finish baking and cooling so that they can go to town decorating them!

I let DD and DS2 decorate the victoria sponge cake... they went a bit OTT with the sprinkles but it tastes amazing Grin

@MadMadMadamMim

It is gloriously sunny here. (North Lincolnshire, rather than anywhere exotic).

I have sat on the patio soaking up how pleasantly warm it is, put my washing out and had a cup of coffee. Apart from having to go pick DS up from football later this afternoon I have no plans, which suits me fine!

I'm in another county not far from N. Lincs and it's been grey, cold and damp all day! What is this sun you speak of?!!
NeedWineNow · 24/10/2021 14:32

Been to Aldi this morning and started picking up a few Xmas food bits in the usual shopping. Came back and DH did usual weekly Zoom with his mates while I unpacked shopping and prepped veg for the week. Had lunch and am now installed on sofa feeling as if I should be doing something but can't be bothered. Must go and change the bed if I do nothing else. Will cook dinner later and then do packed lunch and sort bag ready for office tomorrow.

Kayemm · 24/10/2021 14:32

I tided in the garden and put some winter pansies in. I'm now sat cuddling the cat and crying as we will probably be having her put to sleep very soon, maybe even tomorrow. She's 19 and has started having seizures.

Beachbreak2411 · 24/10/2021 14:36

Stew in slow cooker since early am.. pancakes for breakfast (with the rest of the batter resting in fridge to make huge Yorkshire’s to serve stew in). We’ve carved pumpkins and made pumpkin purée with the “guts” ready to bake with tomorrow. Off for a walk on the beach now.

MrsBerthaRochester · 24/10/2021 14:50

Staying at home as trying to avoid spending but am online shopping anyway! Just out of shower so doing a face mask.
Ds1 at his pals watching football,ds2 watching nonsemse on youtube. Dd stomped off to bed as made her come back from her friends(where she practically lives)
No wine today so will be movie and chocolate later.

Itsassimpleasthat · 24/10/2021 14:50

We all had a lay in this morning, didn’t get up until eleven!
We missed breakfast as we slept in so late so had an early lunch of buttery garlicky pasta with grated cheese on top followed by chocolate biscoff (and coffee for me.)
We’re currently watching cartoons, my children are 12 and 15 but we still like them, and my youngest and me are about to make some Halloween decorations as they’re both having a Halloween sleepover this week (on different evenings thankfully!) and we’ve been watching YouTube videos for diy decs and spooky food.
My eldest is going to meet a friend soon and take the dog for a walk and a play on a local field (we’re dog sitting for my brother at the moment.)
I’ve pre roasted and shredded a chicken and made some stock for chicken stew and dumplings and have already prepared an apple crumble today so we’ll have that for tea and dessert at around 5.30-6ish while we watch a spooky film.
I’ll clean the ducks out while tea is cooking and feed all the animals before I serve ours up.
After tea I’ll wash up and have a shower and I expect my boys will probably just have showers and baths, get into pjs and go up to play their online games with their friends for the evening until it’s time to come off.
I think I’ll probably make my boys a fancy hot chocolate this evening and I’ll have a pumpkin spiced latte (I bought special syrups for these treats for us over the winter) and while my boys game I’ll probably get into bed with the animals and try and find a good film to watch.

HerRoyalWitchyness · 24/10/2021 15:20

Banana bread and brownies are ready too.

Now I need to sort the potatoes for tonight's tea. The little ones are on a sugar high and playing upstairs Grin

'I don’t have kids, so can please myself.'

Same here - high five Smile sounds like a lovely day

HelloCanYouHearMe · 24/10/2021 15:32

DS has had a rough few weeks - first of all Covid and then an accident at school requiring stitches... So today we went for waffles and ice-cream and we're now snuggled on the sofa watching Harry Potter while DP makes us all jacket spuds for tea

mumonthehill · 24/10/2021 15:33

Made Christmas cakes!! House smells fab. About to put a roast in the oven. Have Harry Potter film on but ds is in his room so am sat watching it alone. Am thinking of a G and T.

TomAllenWife · 24/10/2021 15:34

Me & dcs are watching the football in a bar in Greece Grin
I may be having a few beers too

PeskyRooks · 24/10/2021 15:35

@Kayemm Flowers
This happened to my cat she was 22! Very much missed.

Itsassimpleasthat · 24/10/2021 15:43

@mumonthehill I’ve never made a Christmas cake before but would love to! Do you have a recipe?

Itsassimpleasthat · 24/10/2021 15:45

@Kayemm I’m really sorry 💔
I hope you both have the nicest cuddles today.

mumonthehill · 24/10/2021 15:48

@Itsassimpleasthat I use Delia every year. Have made 3 today, they are all quite boozy!

Shmithecat2 · 24/10/2021 15:51

Housework, laundry and not a lot else! Got back from a week abroad early this morning, so have a mountain of stuff to get through. Although right now, I'm sat in front of the fire, watching GBBO on catchup 😳

InFiveMins · 24/10/2021 16:10

Got a stew going in the slow cooker first thing this morning so will have that for tea later. Went out for breakfast and did a bit of browsing around some shops with DP, went to a coffee shop later in the afternoon and am now just chilling on the sofa for an hour or so. Nice and peaceful Sunday, just how I like it.

Tiredmum100 · 24/10/2021 16:15

Well I had a bit of a lie in whilst dh took ds1 to rugby, ds2 rugby was called off because of the weather, so we went to wrens to look at kitchens, then to a couple of other shops. Dc are currently playing on the computer. Dh is doing work around the house (we've recently moved and we have a lot of things to sort out 🙄). I've got a pork and chicken roasting in the oven, all my vegs is prepared and I'm going to get going on all that in a minute, my parents are coming over for dinner. Then chill out in front of the TV, before an early ish night tonight as I haven't slept well the last few nights. No work tomorrow as we are all luckily off for half term!

TabithaTiger · 24/10/2021 16:30

Stayed in bed until 9 ( which is late for me!) drinking coffee and reading. Took the dog for a long walk, enjoyed looking at the colours of the trees and scuffing through the leaves. This afternoon I've had a tidy up of the bedrooms and popped to Sainsbury's. Made a vegan shepherds pie for dinner. My friends coming over in a bit for tea, chocolate cake and a good catch up.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 24/10/2021 16:39

I love these threads. DH and I had a lie in then went to the fireplace shop and ordered a new fireplace for our front room due to be fitted just before Christmas which will be lovely.

Then my dad came over to fix the doorbell which he couldn’t and we took a dressing table to my parent’s house. DH has gone to the pub and I’m eating cottage cheese and pineapple and watching rubbish. Going to have a Caesar salad later and watch more rubbish with DH. Nice lazy Sunday.

Primrosefields · 24/10/2021 17:18

Been planning out our week off to complete dds homework. Need to visit places to show her surrounded by God's creation and take photos to put on her earth artwork.
So far, planned a trip to sea life centre, a butterfly farm, a trip to the waterfalls, an evening trip up the hills in the countryside to see the stars and moon, a trip to a wildlife park or zoo. Just need to find somewhere beautiful to go that shows land and sea, thinking maybe Wales, which would be overnight stay.

MrsDThomas · 24/10/2021 17:20

Its been raining most of the day. And not just raining, absolutely monsoon conditions. Much brighter now so took DD for a driving lesson. Test tomorrow!

Roast chicken for dinne and a large pinot grigio!

TurquoiseDragon · 24/10/2021 17:35

I've finally had a chance to stop doing things, and I'm doing as little as possible right now. DC are doing their own things, so no need for me to be involved there. Single parent, so no one else to have to worry about.

I do have a chicken in the oven, and some garlic bread to go in later. Plan is for everyone to have a bit of chicken and sort their own sides out. I've got some nice salad to go with mine. DS has already chopped up some cucumber and carrot into sticks for his sides later, they're in the fridge.

I don't get many opportunities to just do nothing. I have already planned one day over the Xmas holidays, where I will be doing absolutely nothing. Food is already planned as a buffet, and everyone can help themselves whenever they want. I may even stay in bed till lunchtime! Sometimes it's nice to just stop rushing around.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 24/10/2021 17:38

Long lie in and DH cooked a stunning beef dinner. He's now enjoying being a Liverpool supporter shouting gleefully at the tv. I'm not working until Wednesday so very chilled.
