Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 18:17

DH is going to France this week for work. Neither of us have left the country for two years and he wants to know what I would like him to bring back. Apart from cheese I can't think of anything! Help me Mners!

Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 18:21

Giant babybel? Had no idea such a thing existed!

Duty free is good, I was surprised! Gin at £10 a bottle.

buttcrackmcheese · 23/10/2021 18:24

They're massive! Definitely tell him to keep an eye out

If you're not veggie/vegan, tinned duck hearts. I want to go to France just for these.

Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 18:27

I'm not veggie but what do you do with duck hearts???

Fry them up - they come in duck fat. I eat them just like that, or on a sandwich, but also good in a salad, tossed with pasta. TBH they've never lasted long enough for me to experiment!

Amora mayonnaise de dijon; large Ducros Herbes de Provence; Russian Earl Grey Tea (not bags); fromage blanc; Molleux au Chocolat cake mix; Hollandaise Sauce cartons; Garlic and Parsley stock cubes; orangina haribo...

Actually OP that's my list - and there's much more - so if your DH wouldn't mind and I'll collectGrin

All of the above as a sample is just one reason why I can't wait to get back there but can't manage at present. I love a French hypermarché!
Hope he brings back some lovely things.

Snooper22 · 23/10/2021 18:34

Oh definitely this.
MsInsomniac · 23/10/2021 18:38

Suchard Rocher Chocolat noir
A suitcase full of them!

Snooper22 · 23/10/2021 18:38

Do you have a raclette? Definitely worth buying and raclette cheese 🧀

Keladrythesaviour · 23/10/2021 18:38

Butter! We buy loads and stick it in the freezer.

buttcrackmcheese · 23/10/2021 18:41

Ohhh yes the butter with salt crystals in!

Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 18:41

Yes, I do but I can get a local cheese which is good for raclette - love it!

My list would include:
Several varieties of cheese
Saucisson and good charcuterie
Saint Joseph wine

Twilightstarbright · 23/10/2021 18:43

Petit Marseillaise shower gel.

Ricekrispie22 · 23/10/2021 18:48

Rillettes is a kind of paté but much better! You can find three different kinds: pork, duck and goose. The best one is duck. It is better to buy it in the delicatessen counter (charcuterie) of the supermarket.
Saucisson with hazelnut (dry sausage). The best ones are the ugliest looking one but which smell absolutely wonderful… You can find as a regular sausage, with pepper, with herbs but the most delicious one has hazelnut inside.
Crème Brûlée (in the yogurt section of the supermarket). The best ones are Rians Crèmes Brûlées - 10 minutes in the oven and enjoy!

Fritelles gout bacon 🥓 I had such massive cravings for these when I was pregnant with my dd that I went on a day trip to get them. They are basically bacon chipsticks. Not the most sophisticated thing but you cannot get them here.

samlovesdilys · 23/10/2021 19:16

Fruit Syrups to have instead of squash
Coffee and nut liqueurs
Stock cubes and herbs
Baking stuff
Desserts and yoghurts
Herbal tea
Wine
And I usually look at the household stuff!!

Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 19:29

Thanks everyone! I really want to go too now! Dh cannot be trusted with all of this!Grin

Is he driving, training or flying back? The mode of transportation may determine what he can bring back.

kizzywizz · 23/10/2021 20:03

Soap, all the soaps.

Europilgrim · 23/10/2021 20:49

He's driving. We're not in the UK though.
