Just musing about this. Most memorable would have to be The Americans, Orange is the New Black and Handmaid’s Tale. Not just the imagery/storylines/characters but the soundtracks too. Which shows have stayed with you long after they’ve finished?

Fosse verdon
A biopic with Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams about Bob fosse and his wife Gwen verdon

I loved it but my god did it depress me
Not ever thought so much about legacy and what we leave behind and it still gets me

So, so many, quite a lot mentioned already. Going back a bit....
MAS*H
ER
Tenko
Hill St Blues
The Gentle Touch
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Queer as Folk

When looked at now it's hard to describe the impact some TV series had at the time they first aired.

Perfect Strangers, a Stephen Poliakoff drama on the BBC 20 years ago. Beautiful.

And Six Feet Under. I rewatch the whole series every couple of years Grin

Not read the thread but The Leftovers. I even tweeted the actors involved which I would never do.

@RobertaFirmino

Appropriate Adult: I felt dreadful for Janet Leach. Having to support Fred West but not being able to talk to anyone outside work about it. Going home to a husband who was terribly unwell and having to keep all that bottled up too.

Little Boy Blue: Again, something about real life that I simply didn't realise - the fact that Rhys' parents weren't able to touch their son. They couldn't kiss him goodbye or hold his hand as it would have been interfering with evidence. I can't begin to imagine how awful that must have been.

Oh yes, Little Boy Blue, when they stopped his mum from kissing him goodbye…bawling!

Another vote for Years and Years and Torchwood: Children of Earth. Didn't the government pick the schools with the worst SATs scores for the children to sacrifice? Worryingly realistic.

Black Mirror: San Junioero still haunts me, as does the first season of Stranger Things.

I can't watch anything like Chernobyl, Black Mirror, Years and Years. Watched one episode of Squid Game and that was enough.

Used to love ITV Sunday nights as a teenager. Jeeves and Wooster, Poirot, Darling Buds of May.

Having been through PND and anxiety twice, I found watching Louis Theroux's Mothers on the Edge documentary quite harrowing at times.

On a lighter note, I can really relate to Motherland and often feel like Julia! Lol

@Viviennemary I was brought up in Singapore in the early 60's and Tenko resonated with me so much when it came out as I knew some if the places they showed. I also lived near where the series was being filmed at the time as well.

Anither show I found myself being left with long after I watched it was Chernobyl, again I remember it happening and had a young child at the time and being so worried for him.

Outlander because I had read all the books as they came out, am a Scot living far away from Scotland so just love seeing the scenery and well just love it.

And as I'm a sucker for a beautiful love story even if it is sad, Brokeback Mountain. Makes me cry everytime.

Our Friends in the North
This Life
It’s A Sin
Spy (the one they showed when BBC3 first launched)
Big Brother (first three series)
The Office (UK)
Gavin and Stacey
Father Ted
Mad Men
Years and Years
Black Mirror: San Junipero
Inside No 9: Twelve Days of Christine

Of current/recent ones, I think Sex Education will stay with me.
