I think I’ve accidentally overdosed, would you go straight to A&E?

I think, I’m not 100% sure .

I was prescribed 56 tablets on the 17th September, by my calculation that would mean I should have 26 left if I’m taking one every single day - I think .

I’ve only got 25 left . I had a feeling earlier I might have taken it twice but wasn’t totally sure, at about 7pm - very tired tonight .

They’re an anti depressant at the highest dose, I’m also on propranolol and diazepam right now . Tried 111 but it’s an hours wait, would you go straight to A&E?

Does the instructions leaflet tell you what to do if you accidentally take too many?

rubyslippers · 17/10/2021 19:37

Do you feel well?
At worst you’ve taken one more tablet than you should have done
Is someone with you?

bumpertobumper · 17/10/2021 19:38

Taking one extra pill will not physically harm you. Yes may make you drowsy as seems to be the case, have an early night, you'll be fine.

I wouldn’t rely on 111 I rang yesterday and my result was ‘urgent call back within 2 hours’ … they eventually rang me back 10 hours later… at 1am

Athinginitself · 17/10/2021 19:38

I wouldn't go to a&e for an overdose of 1 tablet, obviously if you start to feel very unwell. Stay on the line to 111 if you want some advice.

bloodywhitecat · 17/10/2021 19:38

If you started on the 17th and have taken today's that would be 31 tablets used so you should have 25 left.

Redtartanshoes · 17/10/2021 19:39

I wouldn’t have thought 1 would be critical but I’m not an expert.

What does instruction leaflet say? If you haven’t got it then you might be able to find online

Clymene · 17/10/2021 19:41

Just call 111.

DynastyBarry · 17/10/2021 19:42

I'd wait for 111 - what ad at what dose? A and e has an 8 hour wait here currently so I would do anything to avoid it.

HootieOwls · 17/10/2021 19:42

That's what I think. If you took one on September 17th, the day you got the prescription and you took one today you should have 25 left.

namechangeoctober2021 · 17/10/2021 19:42

I’m on hold to 111.

That makes sense, I’m going to try count it on calendar, yes started on 25th . I’m fairly sure I haven’t overdosed but have diagnosed OCD so once I get an idea in my head it’s like a dog with a bone .

There’s definitely 25 left yes

You haven't said which medication it is? And what dose?

DeathMetalMum · 17/10/2021 19:43

If you know of a pharmacy local that's open I'd give them a ring. The pharmacist should be able to give you advice.

Kittykat93 · 17/10/2021 19:46

I really wouldn't go to a&e for this ...just wait for 111. I mean personally I wouldn't do anything but you're clearly worried so just wait for advice for 111. You'll be fine

namechangeoctober2021 · 17/10/2021 19:46

@HopelesslydevotedtoGu

You haven't said which medication it is? And what dose?
It’s mirtazapine, 45mg .

Other meds is diazepam 3 x 2mg today, and propanolol 3 x 40mg

There’s definitely 25 left snd 56 to start with on 17th September so that all adds up

HootieOwls · 17/10/2021 19:46

Did you have one on the day you collected the prescription?

Floralnomad · 17/10/2021 19:46

I really can’t imagine that 1 extra tablet would do very much harm , stop worrying .

Isabellabasil · 17/10/2021 19:47

25 is the correct number to have left as you've been taking it for 31 days.

Luzina · 17/10/2021 19:47

I put my medication in one of those pill cases marked with the days of the week, that way I know for sure if I’ve taken it.

Hopefully ticking each day off on the calendar to check your medication maths will help, i agree with other posters that you should have 25 left

namechangeoctober2021 · 17/10/2021 19:48

@HootieOwls

Did you have one on the day you collected the prescription?
I did yeah, I think I’ve probably counted it wrong in calendar !
OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2021 19:48

It will probably be no problem at all but you are doing the right thing speaking to a medical person in real life Flowers

erinaceus · 17/10/2021 19:50

I know it's not UK-based, but www.poison.org (US poison control) does have a web-based tool for checking around potential poisonings which may give some reassurance (or suggest that you seek further help).

HootieOwls · 17/10/2021 19:50

I’ve counted on a calendar and attached it. So today’s pill is the 31st pill you have taken.

56-31=25
