What was THE INCIDENT at your secondary school?

Inspired by a thread on another website that I randomly came across throught google.

Every school has some sort of 'infamous incident' that passed into the annals of school infamy and was the sole topic of gossip for months if not years.

What was yours?

Mine was the head teacher had an affair with another teacher. Both were married. It all became public on the last day of term and neither of them came back the following term. Just disappeared. No one talked about anything else for a long time.

These was no one scandal - there was so much going on that it all seemed normal. The school burnt down after I left. The arsonist was never found- most people seem to think it was the head teacher (who had been shagging the business manager and employed his daughter and promoted her incredibly quickly). He then had some sort of breakdown and hasn't worked in a school since.

One scandal went over my head- a new PE teacher got into a fight with a boy in my year. The boy was suspended. There was much outrage from the other students- lots of grumbling about how unfair it was. People were really, really angry. I thought it was just because he was a nice lad that wouldn't hurt a fly. He really wasn't the fighting kind, so it did seem strange that he'd punched a teacher. Then the other day DH told me about a PE teacher who had left his school and gone to mine- it was this teacher who had been punched by the lad in my year . Apparently the teacher had left the school DH was at after students were complaining amongst themselves that he was being very inappropriately. Suddenly it all made sense, as to why the lad in my year would have punched the teacher. Duh! (It was the mid '80's and we just didn't go to adults about things like that)

The 16 year old who married an ugly 32 year old was an odd one. She had to come and back to school in 5th form and he picked her up from the school disco.

Not a scandal, but also had a pickled baby in the biology lab. It was lost in the fire.

A French teacher lobbed a book across the room in anger at a boy in my year and actually hit him in the head. He was sacked. That was gossip for ages.

A philosophy teacher creeped on a 6th year pupil at the graduation ball and he was banned from attending our one because of it.

Will be careful with details with this one... A pupil's married mum left her husband for a well-known local woman who also had children in the school. It was in the papers because the woman was well known. Teenagers can be cruel and I felt awful for them

We had a headteacher having an affair with another teacher as well, was years of gossip. One of my parents was a teacher at the school and said even the staff gossiped about it.

One of the teachers was supposedly shagging a sixth former as well but not sure how true that was.

Some rottweilers got into the school and attacked some of the kids...

In the mid 90s my sister had a relationship with her German teacher when she was in 6th form. The school knew about it but he wasn't fired and went to work at another school.

Nothing overly exciting here.

One kid in my class was playing with tip ex flipping it around and it exploded in his face and eyes - he was fine.

There was a teacher at the school who suddenly moved schools. Word got around he came out as trans and started identifying as woman and couldn't stay at the school, so moved to another local school as a female teacher. Teachers wife also worked at my school and they split. This was in a time that being transgender was still a bit of a taboo!

There was 2 girls in my year which were rumoured to have spent a night making out with 2 of the male teachers at a party. It's a weird one because the girls didn't deny it but the teachers never got in trouble. I assume it didn't happen.

One of the girls from above made a sex tape in year 10 and it was being sent around the school! Which looking back is icky due to her age - many including myself did not see the sec tape!

Also, a rumour that 2 teachers who were married were seen at a swingers party. So they were known as swingers by everyone!

Also, there was a teacher who was married to a fellow student whom she met whilst in school shortly after qualifying as a teacher and pursued a relationship with shortly after he left. They had kdis by the time I was in school and everything. By the time I was in school it would be a sackable offence but she had met him many years before and she got not in trouble probably due to the time it was in when they met (70's)!

We had the usual affairs between teachers, slightly odd teacher who vanished one day - suspicion that he'd been arrested

A teen pregnancy, followed by another the next year (same girl). She now has 5 children, early 40's and still with the dad of all children!

A teacher had a car accident just after dropping her children at school, she died

We also had an economics teacher who creeped on the prettier 6th formers.

Fight between teacher and sixth form lad as the lad had been dumped by his girlfriend who then went out with the teacher.

A teacher was in a relationship with the Head Girl, they eventually married after she finished her teacher training. She came back to the school to teach, he was still there, we were then in the Sixth form and teased her rotten, Here to keep an eye on him? They had a very long marriage, sadly I read where he had died a few years ago,

A pupil in our final year turned up to school after lunchtime absolutely pissed,stormed through the corridors and went into the dishy english teachers classroom and kissed his face off I front of the whole class!
She got expelled .

Music teacher had a relationship with a student, she was 16 so no legal action was taken and he resigned and went on to work in another school were he was found to be sexually abusing a 13 year old student and now he's in prison

I think we went to the same high school. Possibly at the same time!

One of the teachers got arrested for having indecent photos of kids on his computer.

The whole school saw the police take him away. Then a letter went home to our parents.

My headmaster got arrested for being a nonce.

At school family member attended, relatively open dealing by children in class of more serious gear than cannabis with some evidence that the head teach was financially involved, either on a % or possibly a more active role. Retirement happened soon after the police became involved though cause and effect might be unclear (Could be as part of it all being hushed up or it could have started as an element of last-minute overseas retirement planning).

A teacher was found using her vibrator in her class room. Her room was meant to be empty, the ceiling had fallen in on another classroom and so the class had been sent to her room.

She had a free period.. she forgot to lock the door and the sight that met the girls who were first to shove through the door is one that was talked about for years to come!! She left the very same day. It must have been utterly mortifying.

These days it would probably result in police and media but school kept it quiet(ish) somehow

At the height of the NI scares the school where I was teaching got regular bomb threats, eventually they were traced to two boys. The school used to be evacuted and eventually pupils who were able to go were sent home early and the police managed to correlate the phone calls with double Science lessons!

My Teacher (also the deputy head) was convicted of abusing girls in our class and sex offences, he only got 5 years and will have been out of jail for a good 15 + years now. It completely shook the town i live in we came out of class the day he was arrested to news cameras outside the school gates.

A boy dropped a big jar of concentrated acid as he was carrying it upstairs for the chemistry teacher. Pupils feeling ill from the fumes, many ambulances called...

At my child's school many pupils and teachers fell ill when they moved into a new building. After a few days it was very sunny and got warm in the building. Many ambulances called, initially blamed on the teens being hysterical, until teachers started falling sick too.
The cause was never found and blamed on "New Building Syndrome" and after 2 weeks they all went back to school.

I went to an all girls boarding school for a while. One of the girls married the history teacher. Another girl a few years previously had married the biology teacher. There was many stories about the school. I think the best one was girls were playing with a ouija board one night and a fire happened to break out. To pacify the girls they had to get the clergy in for a blessing.

Just remembered another.. A 6th form art teacher got caught relieving himself in the art supplies cupboard by a pupil..
He never was seen again after that. M

It was after we'd come back from a week field trip. The way he scrubbed it off the whiteboard screamed guilt.

I went to a girls school in the 80s and our Incident was that a girl was supposed to have died tragically from falling from a balcony or sometimes the bell tower, accounts varied, and thereafter haunted the school. We would scare the younger pupils with this. Sometimes you’d get a library book which had her name written inside the front cover which was of course really the older girls pissing about.

I think we may have been at the same school Cheesymonster!
