What was THE INCIDENT at your secondary school?

Inspired by a thread on another website that I randomly came across throught google.

Every school has some sort of 'infamous incident' that passed into the annals of school infamy and was the sole topic of gossip for months if not years.

What was yours?

Mine was the head teacher had an affair with another teacher. Both were married. It all became public on the last day of term and neither of them came back the following term. Just disappeared. No one talked about anything else for a long time.

3 girls in my form pierced their own nipples during art class. Shock

There were quite a few ‘incidents’ at the various different schools I went to. Some amusing like the time half the local rugby team ‘broke in’ to the girls’ sixth form boarding house. (Sure they did, no chance there was any inside assistance with that!) Some decidedly less so, like the teacher who went to prison for possession of child porn or the one ‘asked to resign’ after screaming some decidedly creative obscenities at a class of 13 year olds.

There were a number of teen pregnancies at one school but tw hat happened to a girl in my year has always stayed with me. She was raped in a local park (reported to teachers and police at the time) and then some months later she later became pregnant by her boyfriend - and it turns out this is the same guy - at 15. She went on to marry him at 16. There were rumours of domestic violence, an affair between her and the BIL and all sorts. I think they got divorced before she was 21. I served them in a pub while they were still together he was pig ignorant and looked like a troll (some facial rearrangements from all the fights he’d been in over the years). She meanwhile was gorgeous, got a few decent GCSEs and could’ve done anything she wanted with her life. I’ve heard various gossip about what she’s been up to over years, which I can only hope is untrue. I really hope that she’s happy whatever she’s up to now.

Two girls had babies at age 14. This was in the 80s so quite shocking at the time. And a friend who disappeared at the end of the 3rd year; we heard she'd been taken by her parents to an arranged marriage.

A young female English teacher turned up to one of the year 11 leavers parties and shagged one of the boys on the sofa. People took videos!

A dirty old man was caught hiding in the bushes on the sports field watching the girls do PE, the teacher chased him, wrestled him to the ground and sat on him until the police came. Huge excitement all round.

In my school the head of Maths and deputy head had an affair, left their partners and later married but stayed teaching at the school. Deputy head was demoted. Her child was in the lower school. Also, before I went there it had been a convent and one of the nuns met and later married someone - all above board, but unusual. I met her when she came back a few years later.

DS primary head teacher had to leave when it became obvious that he was having an affair with a teacher whose dc was in my ds class. He had kids too. She stayed but to teach Reception not her usual year

LunaMay · 18/10/2021 03:41

We had the teacher who didn't wear knickers and would sit on the corner of her desk and flash everyone.

A girl bringing a miscarried foetus into school. I thought this was made up when I first heard but suddenly all her friend group were taken into counselling having apparently seen it.

Mothership4two · 18/10/2021 03:50

Our sixth form used to share lessons with a local all girls school sixth form. They invited some of us to their school parties with a local all boys college. Well it was a bit of an eye-opener for us to say the least. At 16 I had had a few snogs and that was about it. Not only did quite a few of the girls and boys go off for sex, so did two of the female teachers!

I knew some of the boys at the college and for a time I used to go to this school for lessons with one of these teachers knowing she was having regular sex with one of my friends. He was quite vocal about what they got up to and said to some of the others that if they came along she had said she would be up for a three-some - as far as I know no-one took up the offer. He also told me that they had talked about me, so she was well aware that I knew what was going on. Lessons were pretty awkward to say the least.

honeylulu · 18/10/2021 08:09

This was from primary school when I was in one of the youngest years so I only remember snippets from my parents discussing it in hushed tones but one of the girls in the top year, a prefect (really nice, me and my sister really liked her) left suddenly. Her older sister and her boyfriend had murdered someone, wheeled the body in a wheelbarrow through the street at night and tipped it into the boating pond. They went to prison and the girl from our school moved away with her parents to distance her from the scandal. They were quite a well to do family (small private school).

@MydogWillow

Thank you for your kindness; but honestly, it’s nothing, no I haven’t spoken to anyone about it because it feels stupid and weak to be feel so affected,; it’s just one of those things you bury deeply and try not to think about.

If I couldn’t make it stay buried or it was affecting my ability to cope then I’d seek help. Other than that it’s just another really unpleasant scar, which can be dealt with on occasion by wine and Netflix binges.

EmotionalSupportBear · 18/10/2021 10:33

my school was really tame xD

Rumour only, but it was believed that the Deputy Head and one of the English Teachers were a lesbian couple (they def lived together)

That the HT was a drunk

That one of the maths teachers was actually a martial arts expert and had at one point, hung one of the pupils out of the 3rd story Maths block by his feet/and or over the stairs of the blocks central stair case.. either way, everyone was terrified of him.

I have no idea about intra-staff affairs etc, but at my state secondary there was an excruciating story that went round like wildfire and verified by the class who were there - that an extraordinarily awkward and naive science teacher, whilst taking his form group for whatever the 80's version of PHSE was, was discussing masturbation. Nobody wanted to discuss it (well d'oh) so he got the ball rolling, told them that as a child, he used to masturbate using his beloved childhood teddy bear that had a HOLE in it.

I honestly don't know how he survived that, but within a day it was disseminated (sorry!) round the school. He was so naive and silly.

Another incident I was there for involved my (beloved and very good) history teacher who suddenly snapped one day when pushed beyond his restraint by the class knobhead, who was always sniggering at this teacher, muttering under his breath at him, etc. The teacher grabbed him by the shoulders and shook his head back and forth until his teeth rattled, shouting incoherently. Sad It was so shocking to see and I felt extremely torn, because I loved this teacher, loathed this boy, but could completely understand that this was appalling. The teacher kept his job, I've got no idea of any sanctions. I believe the boy didn't have any lasting injury.

@fluffedup

On the last day of school, some of the fifth-form girls got drunk and fell in the fish pond. The rest of the class refused to tell on them so the headmistress nun (it was a convent) caned the entire class.
Haha my DBs entire year was expelled on the last day of what was then their 5th year. They were all taking last day of celebrations a bit too far and one lad pushed another through a glass window. It was an old school, no double glazing. He was fine but the headmaster wasn’t and screamed at them all to get out he was expelling them all.
TattiePants · 18/10/2021 13:18

What happened at my secondary school was incredibly sad and very outing as hopefully nothing like this has ever happened anywhere else. In the space of about 12 months a first year student and some of his family were killed in a gas explosion followed by a second year student being swept into the sea and drowned. The body of a third year student was then found in a derelict building and a fifth year was arrested for the murder. The fifth year was detained for about 4 months which mean they missed all of their GCSEs and lots of us were questioned by the police. It took over 20 years before a local serial killer was charged with the murder. He'd gone on to murder 3 more children from my school in the following couple of years.

missverstaendnis · 18/10/2021 13:19

Mine is pretty grim.
The science teacher and IT teacher were married with 2 kids.
Science teacher poisoned their kids, attempted to kill the IT teacher and committed suicide.
IT teacher returned to school three months later, no one ever spoke about it again ( but we all knew from the papers) and science teacher replaced without a word.
This is about 20 years ago in rural area in Europe.

A boy in my sisters tutor (year 10 or 11) stabbed another boy in the tutor in the back with a knife he had stolen from food tech.

Not my school but the local one to me at the time. The school was in the street behind ours with a laneway in between streets. At lunch times a girl from the school would provide services and there would be a line of 20 odd guys. Our neighbour was annoyed as she thought they were smoking so popped her head over the fence to discover what was really going on (was not seen). She thought she had gone mad so next day convinced my mother to lay in wait with her and spy over the fence undetected to ensure it was what she thought. My mother said you couldn’t miss it.

So after lunch my mum and the neighbour went to the school and demanded to see the principal and told him what was going on. The next day the neighbour, my mother and the principal hid behind the fence in neighbours backyard until proceedings were underway. Then the principal suddenly vaulted over the fence. The boys all scarpered and only the girl was left behind. With her head over the fence, the neighbour took it upon herself to tell the girl what she thought of her while the principal was ordering her to accompany him back to school. She must have called her a prostitute or similar as mum said the girl shouted she was not as she didn’t charge any money.

tallredhead1 · 18/10/2021 13:41

A girl in my class gave birth 6 weeks before we started our sex education talk. I really think year.10 is to late for these talks, hopefully it has changed now, this was the early 90's

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/10/2021 13:46

@SmallWaistFatFace

A girl was 'licked out' and the boy got something in his mouth which be thought was a starburst so he ate is but it was actually genital warts
Genital warts come in four refreshing fruit flavours?
