Can someone explain what my son saw?

My DS (14) and his friends went for a walk deep in the woods yesterday. They came across four people standing in a circle with candles and markings on the ground. Two were dressed in all black, very smart, like priests. The other two were in normal clothes and were bleeding from their arms. My son said he saw them cut themselves, they were mumbling something inaudible while the two in all black held their arms in the air and chanted. When they realised they were being watched one of the people in black told the boys they were going to cut their heads off if they don’t leave. I know it’s true because one of the kids filmed it and I’ve watched it. Wtf!?

@HerRoyalWitchyness, that's certainly a stumbling block for many people.

chocolatethunder · 17/10/2021 20:52

This is so creepy !

HerRoyalWitchyness · 17/10/2021 20:53

@silveryslade I agree. And my inability to forgive makes me a very bad Catholic. That and my use of witchcraft Grin but as I said, wither God will forgive me or I'll be better off in hell anyways Wink

Well, the difference is prayer is sanctioned by God, magic is performed by the practitioner of magic.

So very true.

silveryslade · 17/10/2021 20:56

For some that's God, for others satan and others it's nature and the earth itself.

Don't some practitioners of magic believe they, themselves, hold that power within them?

Blinky21 · 17/10/2021 20:57

Are the younger people students filming the older people maybe and the threat they made was just meant to be a joke

Can anyone tell me how to upload a video to MN? For some reason I can only upload pictures. I’ve had to edit quite a bit out so that you can’t see anything that might be identifying. Other parents have seen the video and know about this thread and they’ve asked me to cut out anything that shows the back of their heads or clothes etc. I’m sorry if this isn’t very exciting but it does show a little bit of what they saw.

Don't some practitioners of magic believe they, themselves, hold that power within them? some might do but I've never met one. And even if they believe they hold power they believe in magic itself being the higher power which they weild if that makes sense.

MagpieMary · 17/10/2021 21:02

Surely doing what you want and bringing about your own desires is a very unbalanced way to live. Not to mention selfish! As previously mentioned , if you engineer to get something, someone else might be adversely affected. That doesn’t seem ethically right to me.
Harnessing lower energies to perform your will sounds very dodgy to me..

silveryslade · 17/10/2021 21:03

@HerRoyalWitchyness, interesting to know.

me4real · 17/10/2021 21:03

@silveryslade Grin

What sort of rituals do you undertake? Is it a graded organised system? Are they designed to bring you closer to Satan? How does this feed through into your daily life?

@Ibelieveinghosts There is a certain vibe/power that's released by doing something taboo, acts of blasphemy or taking blood from oneself etc.

Some of it is about getting real-world results or personal power. (Practical Magick or initiation.)

A lot of it is like any other religion I think- people pray (or work a ritual/magick) to their god for a particular outcome, or to be closer to their god, for comfort in difficult times.

Some groups/systems have levels and others don't officially, but initiation is a constant process we all experience through life- you learn new things about the world etc.

The aim can be to make oneself a stronger person better able to deal with adversity, to achieve certain real-world goals. Some people want to be a better conduit for the will of Satan on earth (I'm too lazy for that.) Smile So in some ways- following Satan's Will for you, or praying for comfort etc, it's similar to Xtianity.

The Goetia is another thing I like, but I do a basic version- just give prayers and offerings to various demons.

@RockinHorseShit I find a lot of 'white' witch or 'white' magic groups can be overly cautious/'superstitious' (omg you mustn't do X, you might die or go mad or whatever.) I've been involved with most things over the years to one extent or another, starting out with paganism/Wicca.

It did take me a while to get my head round the idea of blood offerings though, as I thought of it as self harm. I learnt about it on OFS demonolatry forum and I balked at it for a bit. But if someone just takes a pinprick of blood with a diabetic pen as they said to do, it's not really the same as they're not really at any risk (if clean) and it doesn't even really leave a mark. People who have to test their blood may do it several times a day. Or of course people can use menstrual blood.

The results are no more unpredictable than in any other type of magick, maybe less so.

BOOTS52 · 17/10/2021 21:05

They could all be on magic mushrooms as now the season for it and doing some weird ritual or friendship thing or black magic, god who knows. But right to report it in case it leads to something else and tell your boys/friends to stay out of the woods. Were they scared and ran like lunatics to get away from them. At Jesusinthecabbage van best reply seen in ages...

OP is actually offering to put the video on MN and nobody seems to have bothered to read her post, everyone's just chatting about being a witch etc. Could people read the actual OP please instead of chatting silly stuff?

Inthesameboatatmo · 17/10/2021 21:08

I'm far from easily scared but I would've absolutely shit myself .
Absolutely report to police this is not ok .

CommonRoom · 17/10/2021 21:10

Sorry OP I don't know how to help with your question.

Could somebody actually read what OP has written please? Instead of just posting what you want to say. How about reading what is being posted and responding?

MagpieMary · 17/10/2021 21:14

Report to the Police. I would be terrified.

winterchills · 17/10/2021 21:14

Very odd! I'm intrigued to know what they are up to

HerRoyalWitchyness · 17/10/2021 21:15

I dont think you can post videos directly to MN

I think the only way to post a video on MN is to post a link to where the video has been posted.

The quickest way I know for you to do this is to post it privately on YouTube (meaning, it isn't publicly available for anyone to view, except those who've got the link). Then delete the video afterwards.

But it's not something to bother with just to satisfy curious mumsnetters. Unless you want to.

Obviously the people in the pictures are adding new weird members in time for Halloween

silveryslade · 17/10/2021 21:24

@Ibelieveinghosts, thanks for the explanation. Thought I had come across something like that.
