Thankfully they have seen sense. God knows what they were thinking!

I love the quote from the director of Global Justice Now: " The last thing the African continent needs is a failed British politician. This isn't the 19th century"😂😂😂

That has cheered me up!

@user1471538283

That has cheered me up!
Yeah, me too Grin

The twitter comments are hilarious. Grab a cup of tea 🤣

Good! It seemed an extraordinary decision to appoint him in the first place, especially given his central role in the UK's failed response to covid and the incredibly damning report on our government's performance published the very same day.

Africa really doesn't need a failed British politician. It was astonishing that anyone ever thought this was a good idea.

Yes, Simon.

Yes you do.Grin

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 16/10/2021 14:40

Haha. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke

JurassicCoastJay · 16/10/2021 14:44

A shame they didn't appoint him for 30 minutes so we could have a headline out of it.

GreenLunchBox · 16/10/2021 14:49

They must have checked his references 🤣

On a serious note though, this endless failing upwards is sickening to see

Hope this has raised Martha’s spirits as she deals with long covid, 3 distraught children and the public humiliation of her husband shagging his aide.

He’s a rat isn’t he.

StillWeRise · 16/10/2021 14:53

a whole continent breathes a sigh of relief

BoJoSecretGF · 16/10/2021 14:55

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.

Back to the meet and greet Alan Partridge videos, then.

isthismylifenow · 16/10/2021 14:56

Oh thank goodness. We really don't want him here and were wondering why we had been lumped with him.

MakingM2 · 16/10/2021 14:56

@AlexaShutUp I know, right, who walked into the office that day and said “I have a great idea! Let’s send a white Englishman to Africa to help them sort themselves out…”

By any standard that was just 🤯😱

At least this particular brain fart is over.

Good news!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/10/2021 15:01

I was astonished to read of his appointment and am chuffed to see that common sense has prevailed.

NomoreSmiggle · 16/10/2021 15:04

Another white saviour - Africa doesn’t need them.

IfImLyingImDying · 16/10/2021 15:05

Personally I think the UN were trolling him from the off.

jen59 · 16/10/2021 15:24

🤣🤣🤣

TSSDNCOP · 16/10/2021 23:47

Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

KeflavikAirport · 17/10/2021 07:24

Lord, give me the confidence of a mediocre middle-aged white man. Has he even been to Africa? Imagine the hubris of thinking you could do a good job.

KitchenKrisis · 17/10/2021 08:10

Sorry matt but that's fabulous news. Shame Tony Blair got his fingers into other people's politics.

CovidCorvid · 17/10/2021 08:17

Have to say I thought it was odd. Surely the UN is meant to be impartial/non political so I thought hiring a serving politician seemed at odds with that. If I thought it why didn’t he also think it and check? 🤷‍♀️ Because he’s a bit dim?

MyOtherProfile · 17/10/2021 08:20

Thanks for posting - I had missed this and that would have been a big shame!

AnotherMansCause · 17/10/2021 08:24

I know it’s satire but this made me smile

Spudlet · 17/10/2021 08:27

I’m struggling to think what valuable lessons he might have to impart, given that the UK hasn’t exactly had the best record in dealing with this pandemic… how to give contracts to your mates from the pub? How to have a test and trace system that falls over on a semi-regular basis? How to send lots of ill people into care homes so you spread it around to some of the most vulnerable? Really not seeing the logic there Hmm

KeflavikAirport · 17/10/2021 08:48

@Spudlet any old mediocre white man can step in to save Africa, it's such a basket case dontcha know Hmm

this made me proper lol twitter.com/10Swampmonster/status/1448158854680821760
