Thankfully they have seen sense. God knows what they were thinking!

I love the quote from the director of Global Justice Now: " The last thing the African continent needs is a failed British politician. This isn't the 19th century"😂😂😂

On a serious note though, this endless failing upwards is sickening to see

He'll be in the House of Lords next.

(Laughable but highly likely.)

PerkingFaintly · 17/10/2021 11:36

White saviour? He's not even up to playing that. He's just a remittance man.

Nobody's even going to pretend the "job" was for any reason other than exiling the embarrassing loser out of their hair.

Africa's been saddled with more than enough of both types over the years.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/10/2021 15:28

[quote KeflavikAirport]@Spudlet any old mediocre white man can step in to save Africa, it's such a basket case dontcha know Hmm

This really tickled me. Grin

Interesting that there are a load of people crowing about this. It would be okay if it was his political record but it wasn't until he had an affair that the MN frothers really appeared

Lammysaurus · 17/10/2021 15:39

Good work, UN. Now that you know how to recognise Britsh Imperialists, please reject the absolute chancer Nicola Sturgeon, who takes advantage of the misogyny and homophobia embedded in Scottish culture to propel her to a place of prominence.

Make no mistake: NICOLA STURGEON IS A MISOGYNIST AND A HOMOPHOBE. She's on a mission for a UN position, but as misogynist and a homophobe, she's exactly like Matt Hancock: she works against equality. Turf her out now and keep her out forever.

Yes, Simon.

Yes you do.Grin

I think I need to join Twitter (& the 21st Century)

Wouldn't have happened to a more competent bloke

52andblue · 17/10/2021 15:50

@Pythonista
I think that politicians ideally should set a good moral example in their personal lives - this lot are a real disappintment in that respect but it's their competence /otherwise at the JOB that is the real deal breaker for me.

Pythonista · 17/10/2021 15:56

I don't think it's their job to set morals. It's the job competence that's important.

If someone is doing a good job (which he wasn't) but is shagging anything that moves, then so what?

Don't be so silly. Plenty of us were criticising this incompetent and corrupt nitwit before he found an even bigger nitwit prepared to snog him.

In normal times you’d be right….but he was preaching to people that you weren’t allowed to meet friends, etc inside. Obviously work relations where it’s necessary to be with someone inside was different. But he was snogging/shagging her which broke guidelines. You can’t tell the whole country that they can’t see their boyfriends/girlfriends if they don’t live together and all the time be shagging your mistress.
Pythonista · 17/10/2021 16:02

And if he had been meeting a friend, most people would have tutted and then got on with it. The venom on here about him and his mistress was mind blowing

No, for me, it's the idea that someone who utterly failed in his role as UK Health Secretary could somehow be of any use to the content of Africa in helping them to tackle the pandemic. If he couldn't do it here, why would we imagine he could do it there?

The affair is a reflection of his lack of morals/poor character, but that would be irrelevant if he was actually capable.

MMM2 · 17/10/2021 16:14

Made my day 😂😂

Oblomov21 · 17/10/2021 16:19

Why? Me wonders.

TSSDNCOP · 17/10/2021 21:41

He'll be in the House of Lords next.

Only if the inevitable book deal falls through and he actually knows where the bodies are buried.

OverByYer · 17/10/2021 21:43

Ha ha ha!
Goes to show both shit and cream float. But maybe not in this occasion
