Thinking about the ‘can’t get to see a GP’ thread and the news that more and more people are going private.
If you go private do you pay as you go as needed or pay a premium monthly?
Is it worth it?

So, you are in America @winterH ?
That is for 6 of you I know but it's such a lot of money. How do people find the money?

You have made me feel a lot better about paying 47 euro per month!
A while ago I had breast checks and went to the gp in ireland and paid 55 euro and they referred me so speedily to the breast check centre (free) that I was told within days that I was ok. That was the public system. So it would have been pointless to investigate private treatment. But I just like having it. In case I get some unusual type of cancer.

I pay about £35 a month. Excludes pre existing MH condition and also gives cancer cover if not undertaken on nhs. I’m thinking of upgrading that though given the current state of things.

Relative had surgery on the nhs and it was an absolute shambles. No one had any idea what was happening least of all the staff caring for them. Lost and missing medication, rude staff, information given that contradicted the previous professionals etc etc.

I see all the posts from staff on here and feel sorry for them as it’s obvious they cannot give a decent standard of care and don’t want to be the poor bastard on the receiving end of it. Not to mention all the news articles about wait times and over following a and e.
