What is your favourite winter comfort food?

As the nights draw in... It's the season for warm, comforting food..
Tonight I've made a lovely plate of pasta with Bolognese and cheese on top.. So yummy.
What's your favourite?

Stew and dumplings.

A beef or chicken casserole with creamy mash

A quick and easy Sausages, Mash, Veggies and Gravy usually with a Yorkshire Pud My kids love it so that helps make it a winner as they don't complain

Cawl with bread and butter, and Caerphilly cheese.
Or the Tesco recipe Nan's magic soup with a cheese toastie.

Beef casserole with baked potatoes (and lots of butter on the potatoes).

A long, slow-cooked beef cheek ragu is perfect for autumn/winter.

I think borsch is going to be up there as a favourite, though. Made it recently for an international food project and it is so good and comforting.

We just had a beef pie with bubble and squeak... ultimate warmth and comfort... my it was tasty...

A big bowl of scouse with lots of beetroot and crusty buttered bread. Absolutely beautiful.

Thick lentil soup

Bangers & mash with onion gravy, maybe in a giant Yorkie, but I do love a stew or casserole in the slow cooker. Also love DH’s sausage pasta which is basic student food but now one of our favs. Oh & homemade soups take a lot of beating.

I just made a creamy chicken and chorizo stew and crumbled a load of lasagne sheets into it, based on an old Jamie Oliver recipe. Much easier than making a proper lasagne but still pretty tasty! Served with carrots and peas for the kids and loads of cabbage and spinach for the grown ups.

Pot roast chicken with potatoes and carrots roasted round the edge. Gravy and home made stuffing. I made it yesterday. Love a midweek roast.

Slow cooker lamb shoulder.

Sausages, mashed potatoes, peas & onion gravy.

Fruit crumble and custard.

Mash and whatever

Cheese and potato pie with baked beans.

Roast dinner.
Pie,mash,peas and gravy.
Oven baked jacket potatoes with butter and cheese.

Nectar I’d just add some mashed carrots & turnip to go with it & pickled red cabbage as well as the pickled beetroot.

Beef and ale stew with dumplings.
Goulash soup with chunky bread.
Toad in the hole with mash and onion gravy

Sticky toffee pudding with custard
Warm apple pie with clotted cream

I've also had Bolognese tonight, with garlic bread and cheese.

I like it, but my favourite thing will be when I turn the leftovers into lasagne.
