Following on from the ' have you met abs infamous criminal' thread. Has anyone met a celebrity (bonus points for really famous) and were they nice?

@Cruiser11

Lauren Goodger, the TOWIE star, I couldn’t work out if she was aloof or shy.
I met her a few years ago and she was a total cow. I was at a big fashion event and my younger sister wanted me to grab one of her products from her stand, as I was paying she sat down at the till to do autographs. Her manager (I’m guessing) asked if I wanted my stuff signing. I’m sure the only thing LG said was “name?” And then she almost eye rolled when I told her it was for my sister who was a fan, before shoving me the stuff back.

Didn’t meet him but saw him walking past a group of people who actually were there to see Ralph Fiennes in a play .. Kevin spacey .. held a long plant pot against his face .. made himself look completely tbe centre of attention mid 90s … up to then had a lot of respect for him and his acting but wanted to say him ..: “ you look like you want some attention from a crowd just by holding that plant pot up . If you had just sneaked out .. no one would have noticed “ 🤣 not a big deal really but ..what a numpty I thought

Anna Richardson - gorgeous. She told me I had nice hair 😆

Brian Cox - very charming

Linda Barker - many times, she is lovely

Dragonfly97 · 14/10/2021 19:49

Daniella Westbrook; she came into the lingerie shop I worked in for some thermals, she was in town for a series she was in called Ghost Towns, polite but indifferent.

Met somebody from Eastenders … her character was popular .. won’t name her … she was a horrible … and then I saw her at a boots chemist ( she lives not far from us ) and two young girls asked her for an autograph .. ( it was 7pm and empty ) and she point blank refused … I felt so awful for them … just a snotty person .. sad as I really loved her character .. she also went into big bro .. I won’t name her .. everytime I have I get grief for it

I have met many a celeb and they are all normal people its the Mps that are rude and obnixous. I have me Chas and Dave, Matthew kelly, Micheal Aspel,Jude Law,Russell crowe,Arnold Schwarnegger and a few others thorough work etc the they were all lovely. I also Have met Syd Rapson Mp and Penny Mordunt Mp and they were so rude and thought highly of themselves. SophieKaczynsky · 14/10/2021 19:53

I met Prince Phillip a couple of times; he was lovely, and very friendly and chatty. Prince Edward is very nice too, as is Camilla.

@ReginaaPhalange

Gareth Gates in 2018 onboard p&o Britannia cruise ship - he was one of the show acts. He was tinyyyyy (as in skinny). My DH is a 30 waist and he looked big beside him. He was also botoxed and tangoed to the max. He done a quick picture and would hardly engage with anyone. I tried to show him a picture of me in front of him at his gig with will and Zoe from pop idol back in 2002 and he completely dismissed me! Charmer!

My DSD however played with his daughter in the kids club the same night and she said she was lovely and spoke 'very posh' lol

I was obsessed with Gareth back in the day! Also went to that tour!!

Have read a few times that's he's a bit of an arse!! Shame he's not so kind these days! I bankrupted my parents wasting votes on him back in the day Grin

Standstheclockattentothree · 14/10/2021 19:55

Thats a shame! Tuffers has always come across as really lovely, so a bit disappointed to read that

He's a convicted domestic abuser.

cavalier · 14/10/2021 19:58

The loveliest was Cameron Mackintosh ..: Ralph was lovely .. quiet and shy but very smiley and pleasant. A neighbour said she bumped into Gloria hunniford a few years ago whilst crossing road in London with her small children .. Gloria was lovely and made a fuss of her children she recalled. Just before a David Bowie concert we saw Rick wakeman in his car .. we called to him and he was lovely .. waved and smiled (1983) The chuckle brothers .. absolutely lovely … Bradley Walsh walking through our town .. lovely and smiley as we walked past him ..my daughter in law met Louis Walsh and said her was lovely and Simon Cowell ..many years ago in Paris .. was waiting for a Taxi and saw Tom Conti ..: I said excitedly “ oh it’s Tom Courtney “ 😂 bless him he laughed and waved ..

Dashdotcom · 14/10/2021 19:58

Also drunkenly met Greg James at an event he was DJ’ing a few years ago. Embarrassingly I was too drunk to remember our brief conversation but I got a photo with him pulling a fun face and he signed something for me, so I can only assume he was lovely! Grin

GumtreeGirl · 14/10/2021 19:59

David Walliams, for work, and no, he wasn’t at all nice; very cold and remote, didn’t smile, treated me like part of the furniture, even when I was speaking to him or giving him items he needed.

He was charming to the boss (producer/ director) but utterly impersonal to everyone else. Some kids turned up, and he turned on the charm and smiles for them, so he was like he is on the telly, but in RL, not a pleasant man.

We were all there to do a job; everyone else on set was professional but friendly - so smiles, saying please and thank you etc. Just not him. I wasn’t impressed…

shatterthosedreams · 14/10/2021 20:00

I've posted this before. Not remotely a celebrity, but clearly thinks he is.

Nick Cope who cannot have any form of fame beyond the borders of Oxfordshire and Bucks. Really, really, snotty and up his arse, dismissive and just an all around tosser.

For anyone who doesn't know who he is pretty much all of you he has released some children's music CDs and performs to about 30 people in garden centres.

GumtreeGirl · 14/10/2021 20:03

@BSideBaby

Ade Edmondson - Saw him on the A42 driving his mini and towing that little caravan. I gave him a nice wave and smile and he looked back at me with pure hatred. He must have been having a bad day, the miserable shit

My experience of him was very much the same and his wife was even worse.

Funny, also met Ade Edmondson for work and he was also fairly chilly. Just managed to respond to my ‘hello’. Glad it’s not just me!

I’ve also met Tim Minchin, Gerald Scarfe - both lovely men.

neededafart · 14/10/2021 20:11

Ant Middleton. Absolute cock

Campfirewood · 14/10/2021 20:16

Matt Tebbut- the chef- humourless
Matthew Perry- very tall, broad shoulders, gorgeous (this was some years ago). Very friendly.
Steve Redgrave- just seemed really disinterested and bored chatting to fans
Iwan Thomas (runner)- very friendly, surprisingly attractive
Minnie Driver- very friendly and elegant
Jimmy Carr- very willing to chat to fans and sign autographs
Tim Westwood (old DJ guy)- really sleazing on my 19 year old friend when he was 50!
Hank Azaria (Simpsons guy) one of the friendliest people I've ever met!
Emma Barnett (Womens hour), really friendly, very intelligent, very professional.
Peter Jones- one of the kindest people I've ever met! Was lovely and gave me business advice.

Watchingyouwazowski · 14/10/2021 20:17

Robbie Williams at a train station at the height of TT fame. He rushed to help a family who were struggling with large suitcases. I won’t have a word said against him! Must be something about slebs and train stations that brings out their best!
Also Leigh Francis in a pub. V quiet and humble. Nice bloke.

LaetitiaASD · 14/10/2021 20:18

@VanCleefArpels

Prince Andrew. I was 15 and at a private social event. He was a letchy creep.

Prince Phillip, at an event at my university. He was very funny and shorter than you’d think

Piers Morgan, at a fundraising event. Extremely lovely and engaging. Phil Tufnell at the same event, entitled and rude

Don't tell me, Prince Phillip was minus 6 ft?
nopuppiesallowed · 14/10/2021 20:18

Michael Murpurgo. I went to a book signing with some children and he was absolutely lovely. The queue was miles long but he talked to every child as if they were the only one on the room. An absolute joy.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/10/2021 20:21

Brian May- the nicest man! I was a youngish teenager and he was so kind and took the time to talk to me and was genuinely interested in what I had to say. He was more than happy to take a photo with us and also asked if he could take a photo with us himself to put on his blog- which he did

So glad , it would break my heart if he was anything other than lovely .

DH and I saw rian May in London many years ago , I was looking at him couldn't place him ( Doh!) kept thinking "I know him and isn't he thin "

DH said "Oh that'd Brian May"

He looked at me with that grin ( bit goofy) . I was going to ask him to autograph my Queen 1986 ticket that I carried in my purse but the moment was gone . He was with a little girl , maybe his older daughter .
He might have tthought me a mad stalker or told me to feck off ( I doubt that would happen but I got The Smile )

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 14/10/2021 20:21

Jeffrey Archer - polite and engaging. I had to attend an event for him as part of my job and he made a point of coming to speak to us at the end of the event to say thank you, which he really didn't need to.

karmakemmie · 14/10/2021 20:25

Jo Brand at an event. I was a total fan girl and she was so gracious and lovely. I still love her

Cherie Blair came to talk to a group Year 9s in the school I taught at. She was very nice. Had beautifully shiny hair.

I took a group of students to see Harry Hill's short lived musical in the west end. And we saw him. He was utterly charming and chatted and joked with the students and had his photo taken with us too. I love him.

I'm still really enjoying the James Martin big bloater quite GrinGrin

Elderflower14 · 14/10/2021 20:26

Not met as such and I've told this story before..
In 1995 I went to an auction of LS Lowry paintings at Christies in London. I got a good seat near the front on the side where the paintings were on an easel.
After the Lowrys had sold there was a changeover of people in the audience... I was gazing around and a man in the row in front caught my eye and smiled at me.. I smiled back and thought "Blimey you look like David Bowie!" (Have been in love with him since I was 13!) I looked at him again and saw two different coloured eyes. IT WAS DAVID BOWIE!!! I was so shocked that I slid down my chair which made him laugh! 🤣 🤣
