Basil served in the Korean War, so I think we are supposed to assume he is in his 40s by the mid-70s when 'Fawlty Towers' is set.

Um, that's his name.

His facelooks 30-something in Fawlty Towers, it's his hair, clothes and mannerisms that seem older.

It was a very brown and beige time. I have a picture of me and my sister wearing. Outfits which appear to match the brown patterned wallpaper behind us. Not flattering on any age!

Does anyone else wonder how Basil and Sybil ever got together? ("Black magic, my mother said"). Every time me and my husband watch Fawlty Towers we say how we'd love the back story of how they met and why they got married.

Not sure why the surprise about Brad Pitt... he's been a famous - adult - movie star for 30 years!

John Cleese was never called John Cheese. His father legally changed his name to Cleese years before John was born.
