Me too. Should we pal up and do progress reports. I've started these things before but lost commitment got ill, went on holiday etc. What's your plan? I'm rubbish at dieting and love cooking but don't eat eggs which often feaylrure heavily in diet plans. Also my DH is one of those annoying skinny people who snacks on an entire brie.

TheWashingMachine · 10/10/2021 19:12

Are you fit, should we do couch to 5k? Weights or what?

ScottishNewbie · 10/10/2021 19:18

I had that much to lose and have tried everything. Exercise was so hard on my joints! I decided to shift a good portion before implementing healthy eating and exercise. I've been on Slim and Save for 11 weeks and I've lost 15kgs. It's bloody hard. It's mentally SO SO hard. But I feel amazing and I've now started exercising and replacing the Slim and Save products with healthy balanced meals. The weight loss has slowed but is still going down and im happy because im practising good habits. I've done 6 months of Keto, and pretty much every other diet and this is the only one that has shifted real weight. Also not eating normal food has helped to break do many bad habits I didn't realise I had. Like snacking!

Hi OP, why the amount and deadline? IME the most important part of starting a journey is understanding your motivation.

I've a similar amount to lose, just shifted 7kg since 1 Sep.

Andi2020 · 10/10/2021 19:24

There is a thread on low carb section if you want to follow.

AnaViaSalamanca · 10/10/2021 19:31

Focus on calorie counting. You have 4 months, so you need to lose 5kg/mo. That is kind of tough. Get MFP app and enter everything that you eat and try to stick to 1200cal per day.

PurpleDaisies · 10/10/2021 19:33

What’s the deadline for? What’s your starting/end point?

DreadtheShred · 10/10/2021 19:56

@TheWashingMachine Yes please to accountability pals! Will happilly do C25k as I have not run in several years!

Plan is bodyweight training, cardio (swimming, cycling and running) for exercise and then no alcohol, low carbs / calorie counting, I don't really eat meat / fish (very rarely)

DreadtheShred · 10/10/2021 19:57

It's for a change in working patterns / locations - and it will put me into the healthy weight range and hopefully motivate me to keep it up when working patterns and location changes.

I'm going to do Lucy's squad HIIT exercises, how about everyone else?
And low carb x

NatriumChloride · 10/10/2021 22:04

Can I join?!?! 🙋‍♀️ I want to lose a similar amount! My plan is to rehaul my diet - something I do for two days and then slip back into the same bad habits…

Zampa · 10/10/2021 22:07

I really recommend Noom. It's an app (first fortnight is free) that focuses on changing the way you think and feel about food, using psychology tricks and tips.

It has changed the way I eat and the weight had stayed off.

Version4needsabitofwork · 10/10/2021 22:12

Me too! Can i join? I know what to do, I've done it before. I lack motivation though - this time it's for health reasons and I've so many niggles with dodgy knees and feet that exercise is tricky. It's got to be a food thing and I find that soooooooo hard.

Version4needsabitofwork · 10/10/2021 22:15

Sorry, didn't answer the question OP. You start by eating less than normal and less carbs than before. That really is all there is to it!

Tomorrow, I'm going to have microwaved scrambled eggs and some tomatoes for breakfast, soup for lunch and roast chicken with lots of vegetables for tea. No bread, no snacks, no sugar, no booze.

weegiemum · 10/10/2021 22:18

I'm doing the Fast 800 diet, on the 12 week programme of 800 calories. Been on it 2 weeks and lost 4 kilos. You can sign up online or, like me, buy the recipe book and do it yourself. I'm finding it ok, it's basically a low carb Mediterranean diet. I'm disabled so can't do the hiit exercise but hats on the website.

Yep, I'm hungry. But I have 10 stone to lose, so I'm going to have to get used to that!

NannyGythaOgg · 10/10/2021 22:32

The NHS has a free app for recording food and exercise (the calorie counter on it is pretty crap though,
It's great for recording your calorie intake. It's a 12 week plan but you can restart it every 12 weeks. It can tell you your BMI and suggest how many calories you need to lose weight.

I also use
This Site to work out and save calories for home made meals. It makes it easy to see where the calories are coming from and easy to adjust and substitute lower calorie options

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/10/2021 22:38

I have to as well.I daren't weigh myself. Apart from greed I drink too much alcohol and then snack. All my joints ache and I am fed up with looking and feeling sluggish and heavy. My plan is to reduce my calorie intake , increase my exercise and generally prioritise myself a bit . Here goes...

DreadtheShred · 11/10/2021 10:19

Well, I am starting with a fridge clear out and olio upload today of all the crap that has ended up in there...

And then a long 25k step walk later today.

Thanks for all the suggestions from all

Wow! You’re amazing! Are you using the Fast 800 diet recipes from the book? I’m finding them very uninspiring. What does a typical day look like for you (in terms of meals?) @weegiemum
yikesanotherbooboo · 11/10/2021 22:44

Too much to drink today but food and exercise ok

DreadtheShred · 12/10/2021 17:23

Drank too much yesterday and ill today.

I drank the wine that I was clearing out from the fridge.

I did walk yesterday, though I have been in bed all day today.

Oh sorry, OP, but those two last entries could have been straight from Bridget Jones' Diary.
