...pretty please. Am IVF-ing again, busy at work and life in general. Want something to watch to unwind on an evening- easy going/relatively light hearted/little brain engagement required please.

I like:

Call the midwife
Downton
Gilmore girls

I do realise these are all quite vacuous, but frankly that is what I'm looking for. I have no brain space by the end of the day to watch anything challenging.

It's Danish so subtitled but I recently fell in love with New Nurses, a show about men training to be nurses in the early 50s. There were 2 series shown on All 4. I haven't watched it yet but Belgravia is available on the ITV hub and that's written by the man who wrote Downton. What about All Creatures Great and Small on Channel 5?

Brill, thank you, will check these out

If you like Gilmore Girls, you might enjoy Ginny and Georgia. It isn't nearly as good, but it is watchable. Also consider Never Have I Ever on Netflix. It's a teen series, really, but it is easy enough to consume.

Knifeandfawkes · 06/10/2021 21:47

Oh yes, I watched Ginny and Georgia and really liked it!

Agatha Raisin on Sky One is good too. Is Father Brown still available on iplayer? If not I think it's on Yesterday or Drama. Then there's the Mallorca Files on iplayer too - I love cosy crime so that's my recommendation

LagneyandCasey · 06/10/2021 22:12

Dinnerladies. I love how warm and supportive they all are of each other. Oh and it's funny too Smile

When I feel like this I always watch Modern Family or Selling Sunset but I think I have exhausted them now as I've seen them so many times! So hopefully I'll get some ideas from this thread.

When we were having IVF we watched Fraser from start to finish.

Now I'd opt for Death in Paradise, All Creatures Great and Small, early episodes of Grantchester, Virgin River, Chesapeake Shores, Dash & Lily (Netflix), Sweet Magnolias (Netflix). What about a bit of Marple? (ITV hub).

Hallmark should be starting up the super cheesy formulaic Christmas films soon - umpteen tales of grumpy, stressed city woman who invariably inherit a farm/hotel in the country, visits to sell it and instead learns how to celebrate Christmas and falls in love with handsome farmer/vet/handyman.

Ugly Betty, people are always surprised as it’s not usually my sort of thing but I absolutley love it... I’ve watched it soo many times and I never get bored.
I also love Zoeys extraordinary playlist, it’s super cheesy but love it... 😂

Notonthestairs · 06/10/2021 22:50

Ugly Betty reminds me of Superstore which we all loved earlier this year. And Kim's Convenience (Netflix).
