How can I make money I'm desperate?

Due to reasons out of my control, I am in a really tough financial spot. I have a two year old DS who stays at his dad's for a night or two per week. I am a full time student.

I am desperate to make money, but I don't know how. I did a waxing course but got no interest. I've thought about baking cupcakes and biscuits but not sure how well that would do. What do would think about organic, homemade dog treats?

Does anyone have any "side hustle" ideas or other ways similar to the above? I have even applied to a few gentlemen's clubs to be a dancer but I can't bring myself to do it.

I'm sick of always being stressed about money and not being able to give DS everything I feel he deserves.

@Seesawmummadaw

Surely student finance has fucked up rather than the university?

Don’t do dancing if you are wanting to become a nurse or similar. It will come back and bite you on the bum.

You said that the nhs trust near you is not currently advertising for bank staff? Have you looked at agency’s for support staff?

Yes but they require a minimum of 6 months experience as a HCA

@applechips

My two local hospitals aren't looking for any bank HCAs currently.

I work for my local parish council, 20 hours a week, remote and entirely flexible. Lots of parish councils have jobs that are around 10 hours a week and flexible apart from one meeting per month. You usually just need some admin experience but they pay well.

I had a job at uni with Sodexo opening mail for the benefits office. They had huge bins of letters and you used to open them and file them into the right department. I could work whatever hours I wanted, just used to turn up and do a few hours whenever I could fit it in. There are flexible jobs out there!

Sorry, forgot to say it isn't the fault of student finance. It's a long story, but part of it is that it was the responsibility of the university to inform student finance I was returning to the course this academic year after a short break in studies. They cannot calculate my finance until the uni have done this. I asked in writing on five separate occasions, and nothing.

He also uses profit accumulator. There is an advice group on Facebook. Please make sure you understand what you are doing before you place the bets. You are basically using free bets offered by bookies to make money. It is far too complicated for me but others get on really well with it. I can honestly say my husband might do about 30 minutes a day on it, more if it's a weekend and he fancies earning a little extra.

Trusts have recruitment windows for bank staff on a monthly basis. And you can join the bank of the trust you are doing your placements in outside of the recruitment window.

My job is in recruitment and staffing in an NHS staff bank- I’m happy to give you any advice if you want it.

We have two agency staff working 2 nights a week at my supported living setting. One has a full time job but is desperately saving for a house deposit, she does Fri and Sat nights. The other is a uni student and also just does Fri/Sat nights. They earn more as agency than our own staff do and take home over £1k a month.
It is worth buckling down and doing the agency's training on manual handling etc then you can accept shifts as and when they fit, increasing or decreasing hours as you need. And you have the contacts for the future. Some people I know haven't worked all year but are coming back on the scene for a few shifts of 'Xmas money'.

Sorry, just noticed you were NHS - perhaps your own bank will be more appropriate.

Secret shopper. Or do as the girl in Maid on Netflix, join a hoarders fb group and offer to help people to sort out, go to the tip and clean. Or help with garage cleaning, I know lots of people (some elderly) who would like to have help with that. Especially taking things to the tip and carry heavy stuff.

Prolific is a survey website. It doesn’t pay much but it’s a little extra than can easily be done around other things.

Babysitting or taskrabbit (doing odd jobs like taking in dry cleaning etc)

One nightshift a week will bring around £100 easily
