What is wrong with me

I'm in so much pain I can barely move, had constant stomach/lower back pains since Tuesday. Thought it was a tummy bug due to nature of the pain but had no vomiting or diarrhoea, just non stop nausea. My entire body aches and I'm exhausted but nothing.l seems to be helping 😭

Was at out of hours last night where they did a pregnancy test and test on my kidneys and all came back ok, just some protein in my urine, and it was ruled as stomach bug but Ihave never been so unwell with a bug before.

Getting myself in a state as over the past few months I've had issues with my stools (blood streaks, pain, blood in the toilet) but I haven't told anyone because my GP surgery is impossible to get through to on the phone and I didn't say to the hospital last night because I was too concerned about the back pain and possible kidney issues (this is what they were focusing on too)

I'm supposed to be back at work tomorrow and I'm in so much pain and feel constantly sick and I just want to know what is wrong and how to make it better 😭

Call 111 back again (or go to A&E if it's that bad)

If you do wait until tomorrow you call GP and say you need an urgent appointment

Personally I don't think you have anything to lose by going to a&e. Don't be a martyr.

TaraR2020 · 03/10/2021 20:35

And this time, tell them everything

You're obviously not going to work tomorrow Flowers

TheVolturi · 03/10/2021 20:36

OK. You need to ring the Dr in the morning. You will probably only get a phone appointment, but they should arrange for you to have some stool samples. I had this recently and they come back within the week usually. That can rule a lot of serious stuff out.
I understand that you're worried, it's awful isn't it? But, honestly you will make yourself poorly with worry. And definitely don't Google things!

Sounds awful, poor you :(

It does sound like either a tummy bug or a UTI. Did they give you anything to treat it?

Once the current infection passes it would be a good idea to fight your way through to the GP (I know it's hard!) to talk about the stool issues.

babachic · 03/10/2021 20:40

thank you all so much for the kind replies, i feel like everyone is just getting fed up with me at this point 😭

I’m so sorry you have been in so much pain Babachic. This sounds like something that really needs following up. Can you call 111 & try & get an out of hours appointment? They can usually book you in with someone.
I don’t want to worry you but I was having excruciating stomach pains & I ended up being diagnosed with bowel cancer. The pain came in waves & was due to an obstruction in my bowel. It came as a massive shock. But abdominal pain can have many causes so it is extremely unlikely to be cancer.
Your GP should do a blood test & stool test (to check for blood) & the next step is a colonoscopy to see what’s going on. I really hope you get some answers soon but if I was you I wouldn’t struggle in to work tomorrow.

babachic · 03/10/2021 20:42

@tobypercy the doctor gave me buscopan and an antisickness prescription which isn't ready for me to pick up yet but hoping it'll help with the nausea when I can get it. At this point I'd take anything to stop feeling so awful and in pain

TheVolturi · 03/10/2021 20:44

Hope you're ok op and @Bluekangaroo123

RandomMess · 03/10/2021 21:00

A bit random but could it be referred pain from gall bladder stones? A friend went through a couple of years of presumed gynae issues and it was her gall bladder all along.

Had to have bowel cancer tests and all sorts.

BonneMaman15 · 03/10/2021 21:01

You need a blood test, ultrasound scan and stool test

babachic · 03/10/2021 21:17

Thank you everyone, I've told my partner about this and hes said we'll go to the GP surgery first thing if i can't get through on the phone (they keep cutting me off when i call) so hopefully can get to talk to someone tomorrow

Hi
Have you done a covid test ? I had terrible lower back ache when I had covid ,it felt like my kidneys were inflamed .also felt very nauseous but that may have been due to loss if smell. Was the blood in your stools fresh bright red blood? That may be something as harmless as piles. Hope you feel better soon

babachic · 03/10/2021 21:22

@Nimle that sounds horrible. i did a PCR test on Friday and it was negative but i was thinking it might've been that as when i had covid in May i had awful nausea and exhaustion too

It is sometimes bright red yes, sometimes there's greeny mucus type stuff too Confused

@Bluekangaroo123 that sounds really scary, i hope you're doing okay Thanks

Bluekangaroo123 · 03/10/2021 22:01

Thanks @TheVolturi and @babachic. I think the issue with Covid has made it harder to see anyone face to face which I would have found reassuring. You feel as though you are banging your head against a brick wall between calling the GP & 111. That sounds like a good plan for tomorrow @babachic & I hope you get seen & get some answers.

TinselTitsAndGlitteryBits · 03/10/2021 22:06

It could be anything..

Do you take regular NSAIDs? Stomach Ulcer maybe?
Appendicitis?
Gallstones/kidney stones

Have you got a temperature? I'd potentially go to A&E with those symptoms: only because I had them once and my appendix had burst and I had developed sepsis. They caught it just in time.

Don't want to scare you but if your heartbeat/breathing become fast, you develop a temperature, struggle to keep your eyes open... go straight to A&E.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

greyinganddecaying · 03/10/2021 22:09

You definitely need to get the blood in stools issue investigated, regardless of anything else.

It's a good plan to go in tomorrow, although I'd be ringing 111 tonight.

TaraR2020 · 03/10/2021 22:36

Good. Sometimes you need to kick up a fuss and this is one of those times. If it gets worse overnight, don't wait.
SmellyOldOwls · 03/10/2021 22:40

You're in so much pain you can hardly move - YWNBU to go to A&E or at least call 111.

babachic · 04/10/2021 17:24

Hi everyone,
good and bad news Confused

Managed to get an emergency GP appointment this afternoon where i was examined and then given a sick note for the rest of the week (although now i feel guilty being off)

good news is that there's no fissures or haemorrhoids which is what the doctor said it would likely be, bad news is that they now aren't sure what it could be without further tests so i have samples to send away, blood tests booked and being referred to hospital for a colonoscopy.

Bit scary but glad to have this week to rest, to add to all of this i'm getting married next week!

thank you again for all of the kind messages last night Thanks

RandomMess · 04/10/2021 17:29

Thank goodness you are on track to get it investigated Thanks

TaraR2020 · 04/10/2021 17:32

Oh good, I'm glad you've been seen and a colonoscopy is the right forward I think.

Are the meds helping at all?

Many congratulations for your wedding day :)

spiderlight · 04/10/2021 17:35

I hope you get some answers soon. The blood/mucus and nausea sounds like exactly what happens to me during an ulcerative colitis flare. I was terrified when I was first diagnosed, but have it very well managed with a small dose of daily medication now, so don't panic if your colonoscopy does show up something like that.

babachic · 04/10/2021 19:12

@TaraR2020 not really, I was given buscopan and an antisickness tablet but it hasn't helped the pain much yet. Doc said to try another couple days then call back for co-codamol if it's still painful

OP posts:
babachic · 04/10/2021 19:14

@spiderlight thank you, that's reassuring to know that it could be something managed well enough. fingers crossed!

I hope you're doing okay
