When do you put your central heating on?

If you have it that is. I'm curious whether people wait for a certain date or just see how cold it gets?

It was 5 degrees here yesterday - and we lit a fire, but didn't put central heating on. I don't think it's been on since March.

This year is the first year we've not had it on at all during September, either manually or from the thermostat. Global warming maybe, but I've also now got an electric clothes airer which has stopped me switching it on when it's a raining day "to help dry the washing". I've currently got Hive set up for 18 degrees mornings and evenings when I'd like it to be warmer, and 16 degrees the rest of the time. This won't last, we'll up it gets colder and wetter.

Bulb has just uppped our direct debit by £40. Angry

Are electric oil filled radiators worth it? Thinking of getting one for the home office as it’s the coldest in the house.

End of August as I start getting chilly in the evenings

I love mine Thigh, must be five years old now. I bought Delonghi after my parents bought an unbranded one that developed a leak all over their conservatory floor.

I only have a 500w one in my office - called Bambino from memory.

They are good as extra heating in cold spots but they do use a lot of electricity, the one we have uses 1 to 3 kWh, we have it in the kitchen when it is very cold as it is a long galley and only room for a small central heating radiator at one end, if the room is quite small, a 1kw thermostated one should be enough

Ours is Delongi, I agree that is a good make.
