Are there any songs/pieces of music that give you the creeps?

The War of The Worlds soundtrack scares the hell out of me. The Red Weed from that was used during my music exam in High School and I came close to having a panic attack as it had such an effect upon me.

Likewise I had no idea that Forever Autumn was used in WOTW but the first time I heard it, it really spooked me.

Another song that makes me feel strange is Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummies. I don't know why but there's something sinister about it.

Does anyone else experience this effect with certain songs?

@Dadvdtret

Not creepy as such, but "Creep" by Radiohead makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Such raw and honest lyrics.
The whole album 'Creep' is on is not a feel good album at all. I find the last track... 'Blow Out' to be so depressing.
@OuiOuiBonjour oh gosh no your gorgeous was one I hated. Wasn’t he convicted for a sex crime or something? I remember something sinister there
I don’t particularly like classical music but my Mom listens to Classic FM and there’s a piece that always seems to be on when I’m there. It’s quite beautiful but it fills me with a real sense of sadness and dread. It’s called The Waves I think and I believe it’s by an Italian composer???

Whiter Shade of Pale
it was being played a lot during a v difficult time of my life.
ever since, like pavlov's dogs, i almost cower when i hear the first bars, rush to turn it off/cover my ears and hurry away.

Anything by the Lighthouse Family. But especially “Lifted”. His voice makes me feel sicky and I don’t know why

Lizzy1980 · 26/09/2021 01:36

Yes, thank you.
I love it and hate it at the same time. I suppose melancholy is the word I’d use to describe it

Peter and the wolf. I had a Cd with intro with David Bowie as a child and whenever that tune starts up I feel freaked out.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 26/09/2021 02:24

Wind Of Change by the Scorpions - was my nans favourite song and played at her funeral, I get too emotional listening to it now.

Song to the siren by This Mortal Coil, first time hearing it on the Lovely Bones movie, it's both harrowing and sad.

I lost a baby several years ago and I couldn't switch off the thoughts/flashbacks for days. One day we went to the beach and I had a tune that I couldn't name going round and round in my head instead . I told my husband I was glad. to get a break from the thoughts and instantly recognised the tune as Bye Bye Baby. It made me laugh that my unconscious had come up with that as a defence mechanism....but what an inane bloody song to drag up

Summer the First Time, She's Sixteen , Young Girl and all the other adults wanting a sexual experience with young teens type songs

There must be an angel - The Eurythmics.

DF was a firefighter and I remember the fire station playing this on a loop during one of their family fun days as a child. The mix of the 'angels' singing, linked to a fire station that's used to experiencing death and the juxtaposition of a hot summer's day was enough for me to feel creeped out and I still can't listen to it.

notelegant · 26/09/2021 08:02

Come As You Are - Nirvana - especially the guitar intro.

notelegant · 26/09/2021 08:04

Tonight's The Night - Rod Stewart. Vile dirty old man taking advantage of a "virgin child"

notelegant · 26/09/2021 08:13

Women - Def Leppard - creepy, rapey lyrics.

notelegant · 26/09/2021 08:15

Girls Girls Girls - Motley Crue - creepy, women hating lyrics and video.

I came to say the song I personally call 'the stalker's song' AKA every breath you take but I see I am late to the party.

I had a conversation with my carer a couple of weeks ago, he had no idea 'I don't like Mondays' was about a school shooting. I still like the song, he's less keen now.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/09/2021 08:20

Another stalkerish one: If You're Not the One by Daniel Bedingfield.

NorthernLion · 26/09/2021 08:30

MM MM MM by the Crash Test Dummies.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 26/09/2021 09:02

Whattheduck · 26/09/2021 09:50

I remember a song that was on an album my mum played when I was small by Cream called Mother’s Lament about a child slipping down the plug hole in the bath.Still can’t bear it now

MrsBobBlackadder · 26/09/2021 09:56

Video Games by Lana del Ray. It's an amazing song and I love it, but it always makes me feel that something terrible is about to happen Confused
