Just done mine and came out as INTP.

I read a blog post afterwards that described what it might look like as a lived experience and it was spot on!

Can't help but think it's a bit like reading your horoscope. What do others think?

There is no evidence to support MB but mine is incredibly accurate.

Canii · 25/09/2021 14:37

I’m an INTJ and I find it scarily accurate.
I’m even a perfectionist and a scientist.

Spindrifting · 25/09/2021 16:13

It’s a nonsensical ‘test’ based on simplifications of unevidenced and long-discredited theories, and any perceived resemblance to an individual’s personality is due to the Barnum effect.

Resilience · 25/09/2021 16:15

Mine changes every time I do it, so... Confused

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 25/09/2021 16:19

I agree it's a bit like a horoscope. I've taken various versions at various times and always get IN-- but beyond that, various results!

Snowdropsandbluebells · 25/09/2021 16:21

I've done it and I think it us accurate

Bathshebahardy · 25/09/2021 16:24

I find it accurate and nothing like horoscopes.

FedNlanders · 25/09/2021 16:25

INFP

ForkedIt · 25/09/2021 16:26

I can’t remember what mine was but it was the same as Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa …. allegedly.
I hate confrontation so don’t think I’d do anything that would be landing me on Robben Island; and I like my creature comforts far too much to choose a life of poverty in the hopes of canonization.

ChikiTIKI · 25/09/2021 16:28

I am am INTJ. Married to an INTP. Its a handy tool to understand others and how they like to do things. I worked for a company that liked to do these kinds of tests on us...

Flufferty · 25/09/2021 16:30

It's a load of b*llocks

DaftVader42 · 25/09/2021 16:31

If you like it , do the buzz quiz with your kids. It’s MB for kids, gives them animal types instead of 4 letter codes (but does give you the code too).

Glwysen · 25/09/2021 16:33

I think it is like horoscopes. HR where i used to work used to make a big thing of it but I don’t think it went any deeper in the end than people are different and think differently to you! I can remember my debrief when they used me as an example and said that from my profile they could tell that I wouldn’t like open plan working - didn’t change the fact that we had to work in in open plan office!

SwedishEdith · 25/09/2021 16:33

Of course it's "accurate". You're telling it who you think you are.

Driftingblue · 25/09/2021 16:35

I think it’s useful for a persons reflection perspective. Take the test, read the descriptions and think about how those categories do and don’t describe you.

My XH and I found it useful as a construct for discussing our conflict at the end of our unsuccessful marriage.

DD’s school does a year 7 course focused on recently on personal growth and self reflection and it was one of the few things in the course that she really connected with. Discussing her type helped her understand herself a bit better, especially since she is one of the rarer ones, especially among girls.

It shouldn’t be used to evaluate job candidates.

ThePotatoCroquette · 25/09/2021 16:54

INFP-T it's spookily accurate actually

bruffin · 25/09/2021 16:55

Dont know what ds and dh did at work and it was very accurate

PermanentTemporary · 25/09/2021 16:58

I can't take it seriously but I know some people with much better jobs than me that do, so it clearly works for them.

About 30 years ago a friend read my Tarot cards and that was just as helpful as MB has ever been, ie it was nice to chat to a friend about myself.

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 25/09/2021 17:08

You're literally answering classification questions as you do the test, of course it's going to get it right unless you lie on it.

DrDilligaf · 25/09/2021 17:15

I’m an INTJ through and through, also a scientist and a perfectionist - [waves at canii]. I’ve taken the MB test multiple times and it’s always the same. I think they’re really interesting and have much more substance than horoscopes. It explains why I find social interaction difficult and I also understand why I don’t find any value in 95% of the conversations / interactions I have with people as they are just inane nonsense.

ftw163532 · 25/09/2021 17:19

Can't help but think it's a bit like reading your horoscope.

In that it's unscientific bullshit? Yes.

TheMarzipanDildo · 25/09/2021 17:21

It’s accurate in that you tell it what you’re like and then it tells you what you’re like. And you go “yes, I am like that!”

ReallyRatherBlonde · 25/09/2021 17:32

I'm INTJ and it explains a lot. Scientific or not, I think it's always going to accurate as you are essentially telling it what you are, but I think the value is in understanding yourself in certain situations. Hindsight and all that. For me it helped me understand/appreciate why my teen years were the way they were. And rightly or wrongly kind of made me own the way I am.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 25/09/2021 17:34

It's YOU answering a questionnaire about how YOU see YOU.
If it wasn't accurate in your perception, that's the time to worry.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 21/02/2022 21:00

I did mine at university, and I re-did it last year after 20 years and I am still the same, ESFJ. It's really quite accurate, except I have ADHD and I struggle with working in a large staff room with lots of people chatting and distractions.
