Rubbish punishment for luring Olly Stephens to his death.

All three should receive the same punishment.

Three years is disgusting as she was the one that lured him knowing that he would be attacked.

Hard labour for twenty years in Siberia would be a more fitting punishment for the three of them.

It is an absolute travesty.
Rip Olly Stephens, such a sad case.

Three years is appalling but no surprise because females always get off lightly.

Those were my thoughts exactly!

AnyFucker · 24/09/2021 18:05

Sickening. Truly.

FleasInMyKnees · 24/09/2021 18:06

Maybe there will be an sentencing appeal. 3 years is nothing.

Absolutely hope so, can an appeal not be requested immediately?
MrsBungle · 24/09/2021 18:14

Just an awful case. His poor family.

Clymene · 24/09/2021 18:16

Plea bargain? The boys who killed Olly also got done for perverting the course of justice.

Sick. I hope their lives are miserable. I don't think I could ever look at my child again if they did something like this.

ohfourfoxache · 24/09/2021 18:16

Just read about his parent’s recollections of the day it happened. It’s made me feel physically sick

That poor family Sad

ChocolateRiver · 24/09/2021 18:21

This is just so sad. 3 years is nothing. Absolutely disgusting that she got such a light sentence. She knew full well what she was doing and her actions ultimately led to his death. His poor family, can’t begin to imagine what they’re going through Sad

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/09/2021 18:21

A horrible, horrible case. The thing that got me is that apparently they killed him for sticking up for another child they had been bullying. Not that he would have 'deserved' it if it had been something different, obviously, but he did the decent thing and they murdered him for it.

secular39 · 24/09/2021 18:23

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the boys get 12-13 years? Such a sad case

CoraPirbright · 24/09/2021 18:24

Just hideous in every way. And they are all so young!! My brain goes addled just trying to consider the out and out evil perpetrated by children. I am absolutely sickened. That poor poor boy and his poor family.

HeartsAndClubs · 24/09/2021 18:31

Could the fact she is so young be part of the reason for the lenient sentence?

I’m not condoning it BTW, but at 18 she would transfer from a youth correction facility into the adult prison system, and there is significant evidence that this has an impact on potential rehabilitation. it’s one of the reasons why the bulger killers were also only sentenced to 8 years because once they were 18 they didn’t want them to go into the adult prison system.

At 14 the boys actively murdered him and it was premeditated, so there’s no way they could have been given such a lenient sentence.

Winecurestiredness · 24/09/2021 18:57

What about the parents of those evil girls and boys. The girls and boys are just children. But a responsible adult is behind despicable behaviour like that. You would think that teenagers like that (the perpetraitors) have had at least 1 social worker involved in their lives at some point. One of the parents could be charged with neglect potentially, and they deserve as harsh a sentence as their kids.

The boys were the same age and got 'life" sentences of 13 years. There must be a maximum tariff for what she did considering her age though.
Samcro · 24/09/2021 19:00

Feel so sorry for his family. Life sentences should not mean 13 years. And to give the girl only 3 is awful.

Pumperthepumper · 24/09/2021 19:04

Her sentence is less than theirs because she didn’t stab him, it’s not because she’s female.

Mombie2021 · 24/09/2021 19:08

She didn’t take part in the act so can’t be charged with more than what they charged her with, but the sentence and the fact that they all have anonymity is fucking appalling. It should not be be allowed with crimes this serious.

HeartsAndClubs · 24/09/2021 19:09

@ Winecurestiredness we know nothing about the parents. While it might be argued that the children’s home lives might have had SS involvement, this is pure speculation.

Maybe there were issues there, but we can’t automatically assume that there were and make the parents guilty by association.

For all we know the parents themselves are devastated at what their children have done. If there are investigations to be done then that is down to the uthorities to do, not the general public to speculate on people we know nothing about.

HeartsAndClubs · 24/09/2021 19:13

@ Mombie2021 they’re under 18. Aside from which, the kind of society we live in will be a huge part of the reason why they must be given anonymity. Otherwise they run the risk of becoming victims of vigilante justice when they’re released, or alternatively the state will have to pay for them to receive new identities.

There is nothing to be achieved by knowing who they are now. They’re not going to be out in society right now, but their families, who are quite likely innocent are, and will be targeted if the local mob find out who they are.

Mariell · 24/09/2021 19:13

In America they have felony murder in some states where they can be convicted of a murder even if they weren’t the direct killer.

Shame we don’t have that here.

Mombie2021 · 24/09/2021 19:15

@HeartsAndClubs I dunno, Jamie Bulgers killers seem to have done quite well for themselves.

mbosnz · 24/09/2021 19:15

These children lived in a fairly affluent area. I know a child that witnessed the murder.

Their actions were their own. I don't know how old your kids are, but if they are around these ages, you'll know that they are 10 foot tall, and bullet proof. With very little understanding of actions, and consequences. Dammit.
